Visitor Reviews of Newquay Bay Resort

Date of stay: 22nd March 2024
I stayed with my son in March. Upon arrival, the receptionist was very friendly and told us where our caravan was. The instructions were brief, and we had some trouble finding the caravan as we couldnt park next to it. One of my pet hates is carrying all our stuff out on multiple trips from the car to the caravan. The Onsite shop was closed, there were a lot of workmen living on site obviously because theyre working in the area, and they didnt adhere to the speed limit on site. Someone in a red transit can hurtling through past me and my son as we were leaving Wednesday morning. He was obviously late for work! Our caravan was spotless thanks to Michelle. It was a cheap caravan but it was still very comfortable with good bedding and most of all it was immaculate. Remember when its off season, the pool is only open Thur/Fri/Sat/Sun which I was aware of. However the pool was closed Sunday due to staff sickness which was disappointing. The bar and arcade was only open Mon/Tue/wed/Thur. The whole place is rough round the edges (possibly because its off season at the mo). What won it for me was the location. Just a 2 min drive from Porth Beach which is so stunning! Also the cliffs are absolutely beautiful. Id say you could easily stay here without a vehicle in the summer as everything is within walking distance (but hilly). Personally I wouldnt stay here again because activities were a bit unreliable, and you cant park outside your caravan. But thats my personal preference. Im sure in the summer the site performs much better! I would have given 2 stars but Im going to give an extra one because of the pure silence at night! This is something that I love. No late night talking, absolute peace!

Stayed for 1 week in December, lovely caravan. Comfortable and had everything you need. Close to Porth beach and some lovely walks. Easy drive to Newquay and you can get a train from there if you want to get around very cheaply, or just drive. Didn't use any onsite facilities so can't comment on those.

Absolutely loved our caravan and the holiday park we stayed in for May bank holiday weekend. Modern, Well equipped and clean, definitely would recommend. Also I can say extremely comfortable mattresses, better than the one I have at home!

No Wi-Fi or service at the caravan! Have to pay to hire towels. The oven takes about 2 hours plus just to cook standard food.Parking gets full quickly.

very modern caravans, probably the best I have ever stayed in

Nice, clean and tidy caravan. Ideal for family of 4
Phillip, Watford
Caravan was nice
Seating in lounge was uncomfortable
Bedrooms a tad small
Shower was a bit on small side as well
David, Telford
Excellent, very clean and well maintained accommodation. Cant fault anything
Joanne, Newton Abbot Devon
Caravan was beautifully cleaned, gleaming and well maintained. Whole site was well looked after, nice pools, great clubhouse and very friendly staff. The outside of the windows needs a clean as theres lots of seagull poo otherwise it was great. I would highly recommend this site and look forward to coming again.

Wonderful views Cornwall is amazing will definitely come back in summer time
William, Wakefield
Caravan well prepared, clean and comfortable only down side which I find with all caravans is the provided mattresses which tend to be bouncy, the welcome packs were a nice touch also
Sheelagh, Cirencester
Fantastic location and caravan with incredibly clean and comfortable. We loved the little touches like providing a dish washing pack and shower/bathroom pack. Staff at reception were so lovely and helpful too
Christopher
Brilliant & cosy cottage far enough out the way to be secluded but close enough to local amenities. Amazing hotub & bathroom with underfloor heating throughout tops it off. The owners, Rob & Sharon are wonderful! (And of course Bonnie) Will definitely be coming back again for longer ASAP!!
Emma
Beautiful cottage with hot tub and log burner. lovely hosts, peaceful, perfect for our mini break. Hope to return for longer soon!
Phoebe
Really well equipped house, lovely and warm too which was so nice on a rainy December day! Bath was just lovely and a nice big shower! The property is under a flight path - this did not disturb us at all! Dont be put off! A great location for dogs who hate fireworks as it's in the middle of nowhere. Really beautiful, well converted property. Thank you!
Andrew
It was everything we wanted for our weekend away and we loved staying here. We'll definitely be back! Our pups absolutely loved the underfloor heating and had so much fun in the garden. In fact Luna came home with a strained tail and according to the vet it was because she was wagging it so much over the weekend!! Very happy pups and hoomans!
Simon
Lovely cottage. Great location for us. Away from the hustle and bustle. Great hot tub . Lovely helpful non intrusive owners. They have it just right!
Brooke
Absolutely loved how well maintained and equipped this cottage is. Plenty of dog walks right on the doorstep. Very friendly host, they were so efficient and communication was excellent. We enjoyed meeting the animals on the farm and the very curious pig penelope. Perfect escape for us and the doggos. Will definitely be back, brilliant value!! Highly recommend.
Libby
Beautiful property, spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable, had a fabulous break, hot tub amazing x
James
Very kind and considerate owners. Couldnt be better. Enormously helpful and extremely pleasant. Charming half-timbered cottage with a great strong shower, cosy kitchen & living room combination and very comfortable bed. Fantastic parking directly next to the rented cottage. Well heated and very charming, and spotlessly clean. Great walks across the fields to the local village of Thaxted and of course within easy travelling distance of the village, replete with half-timbered houses and windmill.
Annemieke
We had a wonderful time in Goddard Mead. The cottage was very complete and there were walks on the doorstep. The welcome and stay was very warm. The owners are lovely people.
Carol
The owners Rob & Sharon, have gone to a great deal of work to sympathetically convert this historic building & we couldn't have had a warmer greeting from them both & of course Bonnie. Goddard's Mead has everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The location is in a great area of Essex and would recommend taking the time to wander around Thaxted and other villages/towns nearby to discover it's fascinating history & buildings.
Inderjit
Such a lovely place to stay in a really beautiful, private location. The owners were really friendly and helpful, nearby if needed but without breaking that sense of privacy. The hot tub was perfect after a day of cycling! One thing to be aware of, the cottage is right under Stansted's flight path, and so there's a lot of aircraft noise. It only took us a couple of hours to get used to it and it didn't spoil our holiday at all, but something to be aware of if you're sensitive to noise.
Richard
The lovely cottage is situated on a working farm, but is very private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are delightful. The cottage is very spacious with good equipment in the kitchen and the bathroom. The bed is really comfortable. The garden is secluded; dog proof and with good furniture. There are numerous walks around. Thaxted has good restaurants. We liked The Star and The Maypole. The Swan and the Indian are not bad either. We thoroughly recommend this place.
Denise
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Sharon and Robert were great hosts and made us feel very welcome. The accommodation had everything we needed and was clean, comfortable and secure for our dog Archie. The location was ideal too with plenty of walks to find and Thaxted and surrounding villages are lovely places to visit. We felt our batteries had certainly been recharged during our week and we enjoyed our relaxing break!
