Caravan smelt stale

Handles in lodge sharp and ruined items of clothing. Rooms tiny and not much storage. Shower not clean and leaked through the screen. Oven filthy! Even when I asked for them to clean it it wasnt clean. Outside of windows covered in bird poo and our lodge overlooked some gas canisters.

Weve been staying at Ruda for many years and have noticed, following our most recent visit, a massive decline in the Park. I understand John Fowler has taken over from Parkdean and we can only hope that investment is ploughed into the site to bring it back up to a satisfactory standard. The caravan we stayed in was billed as luxury however it was far from luxury. The cupboard doors were broken and had chipped paint, the shower cubicle needed replacing, the cooker and microwave were broken and did not function properly, the double glazing had blown and was full of water, the patio door lock did not secure the door properly, the toilets smelt, weeds blocked the gutter and down pipe, the sofa was the most uncomfortable seat I have ever sat on. The caravan next to us was being cleaned by 2 possibly Eastern European gentleman who was coughing up and spitting out the bedroom window! Not what you want when sitting on your veranda having a meal. Overall we were very disappointed by the standard of the caravan which is such a shame as we have spent many happy holidays here.

Had a lovely weekend, caravan clean and not far to all the amenities.Probably best to book swimming if you arriving early as your caravan will not be ready till 4pm.Toilets need looking at, not clean, doors don't lock. Also waited a long time at the bar for drinks, then was approached by one member of staff who said 'what do you want' not good manners at all.

We loved this cosy little cottage! Perfectly tucked away for peace but still near shops and local spots. The hot tub was a real treat and the underfloor heating kept everything super warm. Rob and Sharon are fantastic hosts and Bonnies adorable too. Cant wait to return!

We had such a lovely weekend here! Everything we hoped for and more. The underfloor heating was a hit with our dogs and they had a blast playing outside in the garden. Luna was wagging her tail so much she strained it, but shes fine now, according to the vet. Definitely planning to return soon - it was perfect for us and the pups!

We were a bit annoyed that the en-suite we booked wasnt available, but didnt want to cause a fuss since everyone said spares were scarce. The shower issue was sorted quickly, which was great. Overall, the caravan suited our family perfectly and we had a nice stay despite that small hiccup. Would recommend for a family trip!

From the moment we arrived, Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel so welcome in this beautifully converted historic building. We really appreciated their effort to keep the character while offering all the comforts you could want for a relaxing stay. The location is perfect for exploring Essex, especially if you enjoy wandering through charming villages like Thaxted. Wed definitely recommend taking the time to discover the area's rich history and stunning architecture. Will be back!

We had a really lovely time at this cottage. Its set on a working farm but feels surprisingly private, which was great. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are genuinely lovely folks. The place itself is super spacious, with well-equipped kitchen and bathroom - we lacked nothing. The bed was so comfy we didnt want to get up! The gardens tucked away, dog-proof and nicely furnished. Plenty of walks nearby and we enjoyed visiting Thaxteds restaurants like The Star and The Maypole. Wed definitely recommend it!
