I got a last minute deal so it was alot cheaper than the usual price. I don't think I would be prepared to pay more for the same cabbin nice as it was. There wasn't much to do in the area.
Date of stay: 29th January 2018
Fantastic time. Just a couple recommendations - a cafe would be nice and accomodation could do with a little updating.

Date of stay: 11th December 2017
Cabin was lovely I did have to clean the kitchen floor, nothing at all to clean with so had to go straight to the shop to buy things like washing liquid, towel and hand soap. Most places weve been too offer either a hamper with the things you need for £10 these however didnt. The shop is abit pricey tbh. No where to eat onsite so had to drive to places.
Janice, Ipswich
Date of stay: 4th December 2017
Lovely peaceful place to stay and very affordable, will definitely return.
Gerard, Liverpool
Date of stay: 1st December 2017

Emily, Essex
Date of stay: 26th November 2017
The lodge was lovely. Very clean on arrival, abit cold despite a memeber of staff puttig on one of the heaters for us before we arrived but then thats the time of year that we went. Once we had logs for the log burner it was alot warmer. Had we prepaid for logs when we booked we wouldnt have been quite so cold on the first night. Thats not a criticism of the accomodation more our poor planning. I would definitely come back again to this lodge.
Hamza, Leicester
Date of stay: 20th November 2017

Elizabeth, Kent
Date of stay: 3rd November 2017
Great holiday, love the surroundings and the fact that it's quiet. Harmony was a bit small, would have liked a little hallway into the bedrooms instead of the bedrooms being just off the front room.
Barbara, Rufford, Lancashire
Date of stay: 3rd November 2017
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the chalet - good facilities, nice bedrooms and full of electrical equipment. Everything was there - even a corkscrew!!
Paul, Brighouse
Date of stay: 9th October 2017
Had a great long weekend break away. Lodge was cosy and clean well appointed gorgeous surroundings in the woodlands. Recommend the nearby Rufford Abbey Country Park. Only thing we would of liked is a shower instead of a bath.

Very clean, friendly staff, peaceful surroundings and loads to do. Most activities are free! But even the ones we paid for were very reasonable and the instructor was very good with the children.

Lovely lodge in woodland setting, very peaceful and felt like we were a million miles away, the pool area is small but good for small children, the staff were very helpful. Would have been good if there was more of an indoor play area incase of bad weather. But if the weather is good no problems.

David, Stoke On Trent
Date of stay: 26th May 2017
Cabin was everything we expected it to be, and we had no fault in the cabin.
The only thing that let it down, was that the dishes, cutlery were looking old and worn, in our cabin. Believe that self catering cabins, should have a better standard, the cabin was updated in 2016, then it looks like old dishes put back in, all should have been changed at the same time.
Alex, Birmingham
Date of stay: 26th May 2017
Felt like home from home except we left our busy schedule at home, we enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and going out anytime to explore we felt very safe and happy. The staff and other visitors were very friendly. It was clean and tidy. Nothing negative to say.
Charlotte, Nottingham

Great accommodation, clean and comfortable.
Helen, Preston
Date of stay: 24th March 2017
Disappointed that swimming pool was not available for public swimming if it had not had a private booking made. Seems silly having pool empty when guests would have liked to use the facility but didn't think the size of the pool was worth the private hire charge.
Date of stay: 10th March 2017
the forester lodge was wonderful...All in all a very confortable stay in an exceptionally clean lodge..
Date of stay: 24th February 2017
Small but comfortable

Clean property apart from spaghetti left in the bottom of the dishwasher.
Ian, Selby
Date of stay: 30th January 2017
Our cabin the the spa bath didn't work or even have any wiring/plumbing to make it work. The gas safety certificate was a week out of date. The docking station was no use to us as we didn't bring a hdmi lead as we didn't think we needed to for a docking station. Other than that we booked here for a family break and thats what we got. Everything on hand with enough to entertain the teenagers. Shame there isn't a small bar or restaurant on site as had let leave everyday to eat. Staff was fun and helpful credit to them.
Date of stay: 27th January 2017
excellent accomodation
Jenna, Worcester

Date of stay: 28th October 2016
Great space to just hang out. Good sized table and plenty of seating; with a really well equipped kitchen. Maybe would have preferred the dishwasher to the washing machine but then again it did mean we went home without a pile of washing! Only thing we would have appreciated was a mop. Thank you
John, Leicester
Date of stay: 17th October 2016
Big cabin, modern, clean, had everything.
Date of stay: 7th October 2016

Date of stay: 19th September 2016
Lovely family weekend
Ellie, Swadlincote
Date of stay: 19th September 2016

Michelle, Essex
Date of stay: 16th September 2016
The Sylvan lodge was lovely, very comfortable and in a great location. The only problem we had was that the floor was dirty. You couldn't see the dirt but our baby crawled on the floor and his hands and knees were very dirty. We cleaned it ourselves and told reception who were apologetic and let us play crazy golf for free.
Billy, Harrogate
Date of stay: 12th September 2016
Excellent break, thoroughly enjoyed it. Would definitely go back
Date of stay: 9th September 2016
Loved the accommodation . Beds were really comfy . Only negative was we had to move the mattresses so my daughter could stay in our room . When we did this we notice a slat was missing from the one single bed . Definitely the bed accommodation there
Ali, Norwich
Date of stay: 2nd September 2016
The lodge was good. Due to the location in the trees, it felt a bit cold in there when we 1st arrived. We even had to use the heating, despite the temperatures outside being in the 20's. The floor had been left soaking wet by the cleaning staff (we had waited over half an hour for the lodge to be ready about 4.40pm) There were also quite a few spider webs around.

Also, probably due to the location, it had several 'pet' slugs. We would wake every morning to little trails across the kitchen and lounge floor. My husband found 2 in the middle of Wednesday night, which we put outside, but there were still trails on Thursday and Friday morning.

The shower head constantly dripped, unless you turned it off REALLY tight. Plus there was a small puddle in the corner, near the shower tray. We reported this on the Wednesday afternoon, but no sign of anyone looking at when we got home Thursday. We reported it again when we left on Friday.
Scott, Whitley Bay
Date of stay: 26th August 2016
Cabin cleaning can be better also furniture needs upgraded but great size for a large family
Karen, Meriden
Date of stay: 5th August 2016
The rooms were well furnished and the beds very comfortable.
Plenty of kitchen ware available.
Bathrooms could do with re-grouting and sealing but in the busy season, that can be expected.
Sofas really comfortable and with the added bonus of the tv and dvd, meant the boys could have movie nights.
Great value for money.
Christopher, Carmarthen
Date of stay: 5th August 2016
Perfectly happy with the cabin, it had everything we needed. A shower would have been nice but did not detract from our enjoyment.

Great clean spacious comfortable cabin, fit 2 adults and 4 children adequately, lovely big kitchen and large veranda to sit on an evening. Very comfortable beds!

Date of stay: 18th July 2016
Only observation I would make is that the beds are a bit soft and perhaps could do with new mattress's
Jane, West Dunbartonshire

Date of stay: 11th July 2016
Lovely accommodation real home from home. Comfortable, cosy and we'll equipped. I particularly liked the docking station.
Date of stay: 8th July 2016
The shop is really a gift shop and doesn't have many amenities. Understandable when there are large supermarkets not too far away.

Swimming pool is privately hired in the morning. Everyone can use this in the afternoon - although it is small.

Cabin was very spacious with en-suite shower-room off one bedroom and a family bathroom.

Kitchen had a dish-washer, full size under counter freezer and fridge. Lots of dishes to cook. Table and dinning chairs were large and comfortable.

The only fault my children had with this holiday was no Wi-Fi. We still enjoyed ourselves as we had playing cards and board games.

Really happy time was had by all.

If you book you will need to hope for good weather. Very little to do if it rains.
Dorothy, Linlithgow

Little lodges are beautiful. With everything you need. Bed wasn't very comfortable and outside of lodge could do with a jet wash but still a lovely lodge
Michelle, Wisbech
Date of stay: 24th June 2016
Cabin was excellent. Only negative was their website had conflicting information.. On the main site it said that the Robin Hood cabin DID include electricity but then further down the booking at payment stage it said it DIDNT. I queried at checking in the receptionist was adamant the site didn't say it did. I didn't want to argue so I left it and it was cheap electric anyway so didn't matter but I checked there site again and it definitely says it includes it. I screen shot the page and emailed them! They still have corrected this.
Holiday was great though well worth a visit lots to do in area

The website said newly refurbished and it was. Had features not expected like a readily accessible HDMI port for TV, a dishwasher and it felt cosy homely and clean.
Joan, Nottingham
Date of stay: 23rd May 2016
We had a brilliant time. One older member of the family suggested that a non-slip mat in the bath would have made her feel more secure, but everyone else seemed very satisfied with the accommodation.
Jody, Sheringham
Date of stay: 20th May 2016
Lovely little lodge. A bit draughty. Had a dishwasher which I wasn't expecting. And an extra tv in the master bedroom. But could do with a few more plug sockets. And would be nice if towels were provided. But excellent for the money. Very comfortable and had fully equipped kitchen.
Linda, Wakefield

Date of stay: 16th May 2016
Loved the lodge, we did have ants on the kitchen work tops as soon as we arrived but we didn't let it stop us enjoying ourselves and we reported it to a man in the castle (reception desk)
The en suite shower leaked after my daughter used it but I think that's down to the age of the unit.
The beds and open wardrobes were lovely and we all slept well.
Alison, Staffs

Great accommodation, could not ask for anymore.
Andrew, Leyland
Date of stay: 6th May 2016
The bed was comfortable , which after a day cycling through Sherwood or Clumber was needed. The lodge had everything I needed even dish washer. Let's face it who wants to go on holiday and end up elbows deep washing up. I think the Sylvan is great for 2 adults and kids, if 4 adults went I think it could feel a little claustrophobic. Each lodge has its own picnic table, which was great to sit out having breakfast listening to the birds.
Alan, Bolton

Date of stay: 29th February 2016
Don't worry about this cabin...it is well up to scratch.
Highly recommended.
Very helpful staff.
We stayed in 6 birth Loxley cabin 33.
It was centrally heated with microwave, dishwasher and flat screen tv.
Bedding was fresh and beds perfect.
The cabin was modern, clean and well equipped.
We are quite fussy and I have to say we were very pleasantly surprised with the cabin and the site in general.
The cabins had been refurbished this year and so the test will be for how long they remain in such excellent condition.
Tennis court, badminton, swimming pool and pool table were just the job.
I for see a problem in the activity center during busy periods.
I think this park will get better as they continue to keep making improvements.

Date of stay: 19th October 2015
and nice place to go and relax. The lady in check in was polite and helpful in directing us to the lodge.

When booking I was worried about all the bad reviews but still thought for that price why not it was only a short weekend break.

We stayed in lodge 19 valentino. It was spotless when we arrived and even got to check in early. The lodge had a spa bath and central heating which was handy as was chilly most evenings. The views were beautiful and was so nice to get away to the quiteness.

A 5 minute walk from the lodge was rufford Abbey & country park. Definatly worth a visit if in the area. Not too far was a local town which had a tesco and takeaway shops and other facilities. We did a day out to Creswell crags which we had a cave tour, look it up if your going to be there for a few days.

I would only say that the spa bath was rather noisy and would probably benefit having a shower put in. We forgot to take simple things like tea towel and sponge but we had a dishwasher which I didn't expect.

I would definatly recommend to family and friends for a quiet break and would visit again in the summer months.
Date of stay: 16th October 2015
excellent value for money. Bathroom very dated. suggest having a shower attachment and only 1 sink to allow for extra room. Kitchen lovely and practical for what we wanted.

Bedrooms had a very 'distinct' smell. could be from the carpet and curtains as they were stained. Would benefit from a carpet clean, as this lodge allows dogs.

Great position for many interesting sites - as retirees, we did not wish to take part in all the activities on site, but they would be great for families.
If you go planning to cook for more than 2, it might be an idea to take a big saucepan!
Karen, Chelmsford

For what we paid it was good, i would have been disappointed if we had paid the full price.
Accommodation is nice if a bit dated but the setting is lovely.
The pool is very much on the small side, but we hired it out so had sole use of it.
Having a Tesco just round the corner was really helpful as the shop on site is very limited

April, Blackpool
Date of stay: 7th August 2015
Our lodge was ideal for what we needed however I would say that if you book a spa bath there is no shower head attachment which would make it better for all family use and due to being in the woods you didn't want to leave doors open and at the end of the week it does have that smell that it could do with a food airing. But as you wouldn't be going to spend all your time there it doesn't really bother too much
Philippa, Peterborough
Date of stay: 7th August 2015
Nice lodge, beds were pretty comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed and more!! Nice and clean however I did feel the shower cubicle needed slight improvement, would stay again
Diane, Essex
Date of stay: 24th July 2015
I did leave a short list of items missing or did not work.
There was no scissors, only 1 large saucepan and 1 small saucepan. Tin opener did not work. 1 chair missing? The lodge was for 8 but only 7 chairs around the table. Also not enough pillows, when I asked at the reception there were no more left. I will take my own next time. When we left the receptionist did apologise. I did say it was to make sure the next people had the items. But we did enjoy our stay.
We did feel the animal corner could have done with some care. We felt they were not looked after we'll enough. So some care could be taken there.
Date of stay: 24th July 2015
Very spacious and clean. I have paid more and stayed in a lot worse. Full sized fridge freezer was a godsend.

I booked a weekend away for myself, hubby and our two children aged 4 and 8yrs. The lodge was lovely very cosy, the outdoor activities could do with some tlc and the place is dated but the kids loved it and we would go back again.
Natalie, Southport
Date of stay: 24th April 2015
It was a good size for 2 adults and 2 children. It could of done with having a washer instead of a dishwasher though especially with it being a family holiday! A shower would have been useful even just a fixture over the bath.

Wendy, Brighouse
Date of stay: 13th April 2015
As we got a great deal we were more than happy, its not luxury but its well equipped and plenty of room. we loved this little cabin and so did my 7 year old boy. We had a lovely weekend playing in the surrounding woods, building dens and playing Robin hood. But I do feel at full price it is over priced.
Heather, Newark
Date of stay: 13th April 2015
We had a great time at Sherwood Castle. The lodge was lovely (sylvan) and my three children thought if was a big adventure. Activities were all very reasonably priced but book early. Only one small down side is that the swimming pool is tiny although it was nice to have a pool available at all. In summary, a very enjoyable weekend in a lovely setting.

A little dated but spotlessly clean. Very cosy and the fire was fab. A fantastic break.
Date of stay: 13th March 2015
The lodge was lovely, but kept being woken up by creatures scurrying around on the roof. It's a shame the roof wasn't more sound proof.
Rebecca, Southampton
Date of stay: 13th March 2015

Date of stay: 13th February 2015
Lovely and clean, only one very small toilet roll for us all though so had to buy more, also the picture on the oven dials had worn off so took a little working out how to get the oven to work. Overall really nice cabin, lovely and cosy with the heating on.
Hilary, Eastbourne
Date of stay: 13th February 2015
Only problem we had was having to wait for cleaners to vacate cabin before we could get in, well after the time we should have.
Micah, York
Date of stay: 13th February 2015
The lodge we stayed in was wonderful and it was very well prepared. Loved the log burner and the price was not to steep for wood etc The amenities such as TV and dvd/blueray player and eveything in the kitchenette were above the standard of what we expected. Only issues was the toilet flush was a little dodgy and you had to be careful how you flushed it for fear of it breaking and then you being charged and the dishwasher did smell very unpleasant when you opened it even though it looked clean.
Paula, Wigan
Date of stay: 8th February 2015
The accommodation had a wonderful four poster bed and solid bunk beds however the living area furniture was worn and tired looking. This did not spoil our break in any way as we spent a lot of time outdoors.
Susan, North Wales
Date of stay: 26th January 2015

Date of stay: 3rd January 2015
Value for money is marked down slightly due to the fact we paid a lot more over NYE
The cabin itself was perfect!! Bedrooms were a good size, the oil filled heaters warmed them up quickly and well. Kitchen, bathroom and living area is compact but has enough room and has everything you could need in there. We will definitely be going back as soon as we can!!
Only 1 gripe from us tbh. The gas and electricity charge! We left £15 deposit for these, baring in mind our cabin had no gas... and gas was the most expensive per unit so we thought we would get some of our money back..... I had to pay an extra £6+! I know its not a lot of money but i'm sure its just a way to rake in some more money from us!!
Date of stay: 3rd January 2015
Well worth it as we are coming back this year

Date of stay: 15th December 2014
The lodge was toasty considering it was -3 the first morning we were there. A curtain was missing behind the main, glass door into the lodge which made it feel a little exposed at night and cool around it. Plenty of space though and comfortable. Happy with the price for this accommodation.

Fantastic base for exploring the local area, we were expecting to go on a few long drives while we were there but there is so much really close by we never managed it and this was in autumn. Cabin was outstanding, nice and quiet. Was dark nights when we were there and to get to a pub you really need to drive so think they would do well from having a bar on site. Would benefit from having a shower.
Rachael, Lichfield

Date of stay: 24th October 2014
Bed and mattress a bit lived in but the overall lodge was great, the kitchen was second to none including a dishwasher, which we didn't use but families would. There was everything we needed in the lodge and it was perfect value for money.
Nicola, Market Harborough Leicestershire

The only downfall was that the oven had no shelves to put cooking trays on,there was only a grill tray to put smaller trays in so trying to cook for a family of 4 was a bit tedious.

The only problem we have gad with any accommodation we have stayed in. is the mattress on the double bed. It curves in the middle and you feel like your falling off it in the night

Carole, Southport
Date of stay: 5th September 2014
Furniture ie sofa and dining table could have done with renewing,I`m sure they were the same as when we stayed here in the same lodge 6 years ago.Cooker and shower were efficient though shower base needed a thorough clean. The lodge is advertised as having a second shower over the bath, but this had disappeared.
Cindy, Eye

The bed in main bedroom was falling apart, was scared to sit on it, my husband had to get his screwdrivers out car and tighten it up,

The site requires a shop with produce you actually require bread, milk, paper etc or even delivery/pre order?
We paid our deposit of £10 for gas and electric but was shocked to be told we owed them 0.20p as it was August

Date of stay: 11th July 2014
The lodge was very comfortable but as a 6 bed lodge the living room area was small and would not seat 6 people at one time.
Joan, Dunfermline
Date of stay: 11th July 2014
Maid Marion was comfortable, clean and had everything we required, was a log burner which we didn't use as it was warm enough with the heaters in each room provided, paid 10 pound at start for electric and got over 5 pound change at end of the week.

Date of stay: 9th May 2014
Really lovely time. Cosy accommodation which was clean and the kitchen was well stocked with all the appliances you would need (glasses, plates, cutlery, dishes, bottle opener etc!) Was lovely and quiet and being in the !middle of the Forrest was quite magical for our 3 year old. Pool was a little cold, activities were not available for our family due to age and the play area was not fantastic but there are all the necessary facilities near by, tesco, bike hire, a lovely gruffalo trail with a great climbing/play area, small theme park for young children, farm and I'm sure plenty more that we didn't get to!
Patricia, South Yorkshire
Date of stay: 5th May 2014
A light is needed over the sink.
A separate toilet would be better with 6 people in the lodge

Date of stay: 31st January 2014
It was the perfect break, would highly recommend.
Been here twice now and love it, only problem is microwave to small for steriliser for newborn bottles.
The place was great, however the booking experience was a bit overwhelming. I would prefer this to be booked solely via booking.com and not having to liaise on with 2 different parties.
A lovely family break and very nice place.
We went away to relax with no children although there isn't a lot there we enjoyed chilling in the evening and out and about in the day we were lucky to have good weather may of been a different story if weather had been poor
We only stayed for 2 nights and we didn’t want to leave. It was beautiful and relaxing! The staff were very helpful and the family enjoyed the fencing!
