Cistercian abbey remains turned into a 17th century mansion, set in a country park in Nottinghamshire.
Rufford Abbey is a former Cistercian abbey near Ollerton in Nottinghamshire, founded in 1147. English Heritage looks after the remains, which include the best-preserved west cloister range of a Cistercian abbey in England, dating mainly from around 1170. After the dissolution it was converted into a country house, and the abbey remains are built into part of a 17th century and later mansion.
Tip: Check the English Heritage and Rufford Abbey Country Park websites before you go, as access to the inside of the ruins can change and the car park is run separately from English Heritage. Dogs on leads are welcome.

Lime waterside pet was very clean and has what you need for a short break. It has doors facing the pond which some lodges waterside didnt have. Small deck, shame it had no gate for dogs access though. Lovely short walk opposite lodge for dogs to roam. Hot tub was a good temp and it stayed warm when using it unlike others we have had. It would be better if there was a view from the hot tub. Lodge 70 would have had a nice view onto a small field and woods but theres a row of cars allowed to park there.

The kids really enjoyed the room, it was definitely their favourite part! However, the toadstools had sharp points underneath the fabric that cut their feet when they stood on them, which was a bit of a shock.

We just got back from a fantastic four-night stay at this cottage. The owners were really friendly and helpful, but they kept a good distance, which we appreciated. The big fenced garden was perfect for our dog to run around freely. The cottage had everything we needed - the fully equipped kitchen was handy and the hot tub was absolutely brilliant! We stayed at this place recently and honestly, its more of a caravan with some wood cladding rather than a proper lodge, but the photos do give that away so we knew what we were getting. The kitchen was okay, not huge and the oven was a bit on the small side-plus, the baking trays were pretty limited. But there was enough cutlery and basic kitchen stuff for us. The welcome pack was handy, though it didnt have much washing up liquid, just a couple of dishwasher tabs, so Id recommend bringing extra if youre a bigger group or staying longer. The place was spotless, really comfortable and the central heating kept us cosy. The beds are typical caravan beds-some might find them a bit firm, but they suited us fine. The hot tub was a real highlight-big, quality and well-maintained. Overall, we had a lovely stay and would come back!

We stayed at this place recently and honestly, its a good place. The house is super well equipped and kept us warm during a chilly December. The bath was fantastic and the shower was a decent size-perfect after a long walk. Its right on a flight path, but we barely noticed. Great spot for dogs who arent fans of fireworks, miles from everything. Thanks so much!
We had a great time at Clumber Park. The accommodation was amazing, we staying in a pet friendly lodge and it was super clean and lovely. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location and lots to explore. Cleanliness was great, staff attended to check the hot tub multiple times a day. Recommendation - as we came with two young children, would be great to have a play ground but they loved it nonetheless.

The location is great, with sunlight pouring in all day long, which made everything feel bright and welcoming. The kitchen was well-stocked and easy to use and the bedrooms, though cosy, were super warm during late March. Would definitely stay again!

We had such a lovely stay! The cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed, plus loads of dog-friendly walks just outside. The host was really friendly and quick to reply, which we appreciated. Meeting the farm animals, especially Penelope the pig, was a highlight. Definitely coming back again, great value for money! Highly recommend.

We stayed at Goddard's Mead recently and it was quite lovely. Rob and Sharon really put a lot of effort into converting this historic building and their warm welcome made us feel right at home-plus Bonnie was adorable! The place has everything you need for a chilled-out stay. Its situated in a great spot in Essex, perfect for exploring Thaxted and the surrounding villages. Definitely worth a visit if youre into history and pretty scenery!

Found Clumber Park Lodges by chance, on a last minute deal, and we could not have been happier! the site is new, modern and well maintained. The lodges are clean, large and well equipped and the staff are very welcoming and helpful throughout the whole stay. The fact that the entire site is dog friendly everywhere is great and the surrounding areas are beautiful. We will definitely be going back!
