Cardigan Castle overlooks the River Teifi in the town of Cardigan. The site dates back to the late 11th century and was rebuilt in 1244. Rhys ap Gruffydd rebuilt it in stone, and in 1176 the first recorded eisteddfod was held here. After years of decay, it was restored and opened to the public.
Tip: There is no on-site parking for day visitors, so use the car park at the bottom of Quay Street, a minute's walk away.

Step into the clifftop Laugharne home where Dylan Thomas lived and wrote during his last four years.
The Boathouse in Laugharne is where Dylan Thomas lived with his family between 1949 and 1953. Set in a cliff overlooking the Tâf estuary, it is now a museum run by Carmarthenshire County Council. The interior has been returned to its 1950s appearance, with a recording of Thomas's voice playing in the background, and it holds memorabilia and some original furniture, including his father's desk.
Tip: Visit the writing shed close to the main house, where Thomas did most of his writing, and look across the estuary that inspired "Over Sir John's Hill".

A Grade I listed Welsh castle ruin with Tudor links, standing above the River Towy in Carmarthen.
Carmarthen Castle is a ruined medieval fortress in the county town of Carmarthen, on a high terrace overlooking the tidal River Towy. It began as an early 1100s timber motte and bailey, was rebuilt in stone and was captured, destroyed and rebuilt many times. Owain Glyndŵr took it in 1405, and Henry VII's father, Edmund Tudor, died here as a prisoner in 1456.

Carew Castle stands on a limestone bluff overlooking the Carew inlet, part of the Milford Haven Waterway. It began as a Norman stone keep around 1100 and was rebuilt and extended over the centuries, so you can see several architectural styles in one place.
Tip: Look for the Tudor range on the north side, and find the tidal mill, the only restored one in Wales.

Really enjoyed our stay, the place had everything needed.
We spent a week here from July 15th to 22nd with our two mini daschunds and they absolutely loved it! They made loads of new friends in the charming village of Thaxted. The cottage itself is really lovely and the hot tub was a real treat - especially during the hot weather, it was perfect once cooled down. The hosts are super friendly and welcoming; it was nice to see their horses being taken out to the fields each day. Being so close to Stansteds flight path was actually pretty interesting, watching the planes come in. Wed definitely recommend it!
We just got back from a week at Goddards Mead and honestly, it was lovely. The cottage has everything you could need and despite being on a working farm, it felt super peaceful. The hosts were really friendly too. Definitely recommend!

We had a lovely stay at this cosy cottage tucked away on a working farm, yet it feels really private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are genuinely lovely and friendly. The place is surprisingly spacious, with well-equipped kitchen and bathroom. The bed was super comfy, which was a bonus. The garden is perfect for dogs-completely secluded and nicely furnished. There are loads of walks nearby and Thaxteds restaurants, especially The Star and The Maypole, are worth a visit. Wed definitely recommend it!

We recently spent four lovely nights at this cottage and honestly, it was brilliant. The owners are really friendly but not clingy, just there if you need them. The fenced garden was perfect for our dog to run around safely. The place had everything we could ask for, including a great hot tub! We even used the BBQ one evening. Definitely planning to come back and already recommended it to friends. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

The host was super friendly and quick to respond and meeting the farm animals, especially Penelope the pig, was a real treat. Definitely coming back, great value and highly recommended!
