Folly Farm began as a dairy farm and has grown into an award-winning family attraction with four areas: a farmyard, a zoo, an undercover vintage funfair with a Wurlitzer organ, and play areas. The zoo has over 200 species, including African lions, Humboldt and Macaroni penguins, and critically endangered eastern black rhinos in Kifaru Reserve.
Tip: Pre-booking a date isn't required, and online tickets save 5%. A free return visit within seven days is offered if you can't see everything in one day, but get the ticket validated before you leave.

Cardigan Castle overlooks the River Teifi in the town of Cardigan. The site dates back to the late 11th century and was rebuilt in 1244. Rhys ap Gruffydd rebuilt it in stone, and in 1176 the first recorded eisteddfod was held here. After years of decay, it was restored and opened to the public.
Tip: There is no on-site parking for day visitors, so use the car park at the bottom of Quay Street, a minute's walk away.

Step into the clifftop Laugharne home where Dylan Thomas lived and wrote during his last four years.
The Boathouse in Laugharne is where Dylan Thomas lived with his family between 1949 and 1953. Set in a cliff overlooking the Tâf estuary, it is now a museum run by Carmarthenshire County Council. The interior has been returned to its 1950s appearance, with a recording of Thomas's voice playing in the background, and it holds memorabilia and some original furniture, including his father's desk.
Tip: Visit the writing shed close to the main house, where Thomas did most of his writing, and look across the estuary that inspired "Over Sir John's Hill".

Carew Castle stands on a limestone bluff overlooking the Carew inlet, part of the Milford Haven Waterway. It began as a Norman stone keep around 1100 and was rebuilt and extended over the centuries, so you can see several architectural styles in one place.
Tip: Look for the Tudor range on the north side, and find the tidal mill, the only restored one in Wales.

Pembroke Castle sits on a rocky promontory beside the Milford Haven Waterway, in the centre of Pembroke. It was the original family seat of the Earldom of Pembroke and is Grade I listed. William Marshal rebuilt it in stone after 1189, creating most of the structure that remains today.

Carmarthen Castle is a ruined medieval fortress in the county town of Carmarthen, on a high terrace overlooking the tidal River Towy. It began as an early 1100s timber motte and bailey, was rebuilt in stone and was captured, destroyed and rebuilt many times. Owain Glyndŵr took it in 1405, and Henry VII's father, Edmund Tudor, died here as a prisoner in 1456.

We have had the most wonderful week staying at the Llwyngwair Manor Holiday Park and using it as the base to explore the beautiful countryside and coast of Pembrokeshire. We stayed in Lodge 11, a two bedroomed Sunseeker Sensation which certainly live up to its name. The Lodge was very clean on arrival and well equipped and we were more than happy with its location. The grounds of the site are beautiful and large and we spent several evening taking a stroll around them. The staff member we met at the Manor was very helpful and friendly and the tourist information leaflet available were well stocked. The location of the site was perfect for all the places we wanted to visit and we cannot rate th as a place to stay more highly. So far this is by far the best Hoseasons resort and location we have stayed at. Thank you to everyone at Llwyngwair Manor Holiday Park for a wonderful stay.

The Pine Lodge felt quite homey despite being a bit tired looking. Everything was in working order, which was great. A small tip: when lighting the oven, turn the knob to your desired temperature and hold it in until it ignites-gas flames can be a bit tricky!

We really enjoyed exploring the area, despite the weather not being perfect. The countryside is absolutely stunning, with charming villages and coastal spots. Driving was smooth on the quiet roads, though those narrow country lanes can be a bit tricky at times, so do watch out!

We really enjoyed the peaceful vibe of this park. The surrounding walks are perfect for a relaxing day out. The staff were super friendly, which made it even better. No pool, but that wasn't a problem for us at all. Lovely spot!
We just got back from a lovely week at Goddards Mead. The cottage is super well-equipped, with everything you could think of. The hosts are genuinely warm and welcoming. Even though its on a working farm, it feels like a peaceful little retreat. We loved it!
We had such a great weekend here, it really ticked all the boxes for us. The place was perfect and our pups couldnt get enough of the garden and underfloor heating-it kept them super happy. Luna was wagging her tail so much she ended up with a strained one, but shes fine now. Well definitely be coming back, no doubt about it!

We had a lovely stay at Pinelodge! The place was super comfy and everything we needed was there. The park was spotless, well-organised and looked great. The food menu was a bit small, but everything was tasty. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Well be back!

We stayed at this lovely cottage on a working farm and honestly, it was really peaceful and private. Robert and Sharon are such warm, friendly hosts-they made us feel welcome without being overbearing. The place itself is super spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen and comfy bed that we didnt want to leave! The garden is perfect for dogs, totally secluded and nicely furnished. We enjoyed exploring the nearby walks and had great meals at The Star and The Maypole in Thaxted. Definitely recommend!
We had a lovely stay overall. The lodge was really nice and perfect for Izzys first holiday - she loved running around on the enclosed decking. Its great that dogs are allowed in some rooms in the main hotel, even though we didnt use that option. The only hiccup was the advertised DVD player that was missing, but the staff kindly sorted it out quickly. Weve already booked again for New Year, so were excited to go back!
We needed a proper escape for a dog walk and this place really delivered. Lovely comfy place, with pubs and eateries nearby and endless fields for off-road adventures. The dog didnt want to leave either!

We really enjoyed our stay here, especially during the pandemic when a little escape was much needed. The view was stunning and just what we wanted. The park had loads of fun activities, like crazy golf, which kept everyone entertained. Definitely a great spot for dog owners and families alike. Wed happily recommend it to friends! Cheers :)
Honestly, the photos dont quite capture how lovely the lodge is. Its super peaceful and perfect for unwinding. The kitchen had everything we needed and those views? Absolutely breathtaking. Well definitely be coming back soon!

We stayed at Goddard's Mead recently and honestly, Rob & Sharon did a lovely job transforming this historic place. They were super welcoming and Bonnie was adorable! The house has a cosy, relaxing vibe and everything you could need for a comfy stay. The location is perfect too - plenty of charming villages nearby to explore and soak up the history. Definitely worth a visit if you're after a peaceful getaway in Essex. Highly recommend!
We really enjoyed our stay; the lodge's location was perfect with breathtaking views. It was super cosy and had pretty much everything we needed for self-catering. The only downsides were the absence of a mirror in the main bedroom, which made styling tricky and no socket near the second bedroom mirror-bit of a pain, honestly.
We had a fantastic four-day break, exploring sections of the coastal path and taking in some stunning views. Visiting Solva, Newgale Sands and St. Davids really made the trip special. Would definitely recommend it!
We went there 3 times last year and going again later in the year, think this speaks for itself.

Very nice select location. Lodge was really nice. Think it was a bit expensive towards the cost of a dog but it wouldn’t stop us booking again.

Really enjoyed our stay at Pine Lodge. The grounds are well kept and we enjoyed walking around them in an evening. There are facilities at the Manor but we didn’t need them.

Set in a lovely part of Wales, within an hour’s walk of the beach (up hill and down dale to reach this, so not for everyone). The park is very pretty, and the mini golf is good family entertainment.
