???? Peaceful Setting, Some Practical HiccupsWe arrived at the cottage and were pleased to find it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location was lovelyquiet, scenic, and ideal for a relaxing break.Unfortunately, our first evening was disrupted when we discovered the oven had no power just as we were about to heat our homemade lasagna. After isolating the affected sockets, we contacted the managing company. The initial response was less than helpful, and it took some persistence to get someone sent out. Although we were told help would arrive in 20 minutes, it took closer to 50. That said, the person who came was extremely helpful and managed to restore power, despite not being an electrician. We also asked about heating, as the cottage felt chilly at times. We were told it was warm enough and that the heating would come on via the thermostatbut this never happened during our stay.A few small touches could make a big differenceperhaps some welcoming items or a guide to help guests settle in more smoothly. Despite the hiccups, the cottage itself has great potential and we did enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Wren cottage is perfect for 2 large bedroom and bathroom, stunning view from lounge window, could do with a few more knives and cooking equipment but was adequate.

I never write bad reviews but this was unbelievably disappointing for how much was paid. It was close to newborough forest which is why we visited. No information on check in or check out other than times, I contacted the place advising I was arriving and all they said was to go to reception which they dont have. It was advertised to have a hot tub, it didnt. I was booked in blackbird cottage which on arrival found out didnt exist so I asume I was put up in Goldfinch cottage as a last minute accommodation. It was advertised as having WiFi , it didnt. The place was dirty, dead flowers in the windowsill, dirty mugs, everywhere was dusty. There was no barbecue which was also advertised. A man shown up unexpectedly to install WiFi on our last evening with no warning from staff, its a good thing we were in the accommodation at that point. We all only had 1 towel each, they only gave two toilet rolls and two bin bags, there was a small amount of shampoo and shower gel, all of which was meant to last 4 grown adults. I paid £400 for 2 nights and Im sure there is stuff Im mising but this was 100% not worth the money.

We just got back from a really nice four-night stay at this cottage. The owners were super friendly and helpful, but they didnt bother us at all, which was perfect. The big fenced garden was great for our dog to run around freely. The place had everything we needed, including a fully equipped kitchen and a BBQ for one evening. The hot tub was definitely a highlight! Were already telling friends to check it out and would love to come back. Thanks for a lovely break!

The owners were super friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. Definitely worth recommending for a quiet getaway!

Brilliant Accommodation for a quite break to switch off from the stress's of life! Facilities were brilliant & we cooked most days found everything that we needed available. The driveway to the cottage is deffo not as bad as previous reviews.Wi-fi was really weak but this didn't hinder our stay - bare this in mind if this is something that would make a difference to your holiday as we mostly had no signal for our whole duration! Bed a little uncomfortable. Overall a lovely break & we would 100% return. Thank you!

We had a fantastic time staying here! Sharon and Robert made us feel really at home, which was lovely. The place had everything we needed-super clean, comfy and safe for Archie, our dog. The location was spot on, with loads of lovely walks and charming villages like Thaxted nearby. Honestly, we left feeling totally recharged and relaxed-definitely a break to remember!

I dont often leave bad reviews but feel if this gets seen by the right people it might improve the experience for another family...The place was clean and tidy but a few changes would have made such a difference. We booked for 2 nights. When we checked in we couldnt get the wifi to work on any devices and the phone signal here isnt great. We emailed the email addres on the welcome pack and still havent received a response. The next day we phoned the mobile number provided - call failed. So we then called the emergency number. The lady was helpful and said they would contact the owner directly to try and get this resolved we heard nothing back after that. Quite disappointing. The sofa was the most uncomfortable Ive ever sat on. You could feel the timber frame underneath. The pendant lights in the living room were way too bright and no lamps available to soften the lighting. The shower plug kept backing up quickly so probably needs to be emptied. I could go on

We had such a great weekend here! The place was just perfect for what we needed and were already planning to return. Our dogs absolutely adored the underfloor heating, especially Luna who couldnt stop wagging her tail - she even strained it! The garden was a hit and everyone left happy. Definitely recommend for a cosy getaway with pets!

We had such a lovely stay at this cottage! The owners were genuinely friendly and went out of their way to help us with everything. The place itself is adorable, with that charming half-timbered style and a really good shower. The cosy kitchen and comfy bed made us feel right at home. Parking right outside was super convenient and the place was spotless and nicely heated. Perfect base for exploring Thaxted and the beautiful surrounding walks!

Bed wasn't very comfortable at all but sofa was nice. Did have a few issues with the shower setting off the fire alarm as if the window was open anyone could see in! Lots of dust everywhere including on ceilings etc which although isn't the end of the world, did leave me wondering about the rest of the areas cleanliness (which did turn out to be fine) Welcome pack needs an update though as it said there was a gym and spa area however when we went to look at these (at around 5pm) they were locked and there was no code. I may have been being blind but couldn't see opening and closing times for this area like I could with the laundry area

When we first arrived, the cottage was freezing and felt quite sparse - no curtains, just blinds, which was a bit surprising. The bathroom looked a bit tired, with exposed pipes and some holes in the walls, so not quite what we expected. The kitchen was pretty poorly stocked for a cottage meant for four; there was only one spoon, a few tired teaspoons and mismatched wine glasses. No table mats or can opener either, which was a bit disappointing. On the plus side, its really peaceful and perfect for a quiet retreat. The WiFi was solid and there was a decent selection of TV channels. Once we turned on the heating, it warmed up quickly and stayed cosy. Loved the high ceilings and exposed beams - really charming touches!

The cottage was very cold when we arrived and furnishings were sparse (no curtains only blinds. The bathroom looked tired, with exposed pipes and a couple of holes in the walls. The kitchen was very poorly stocked, not what we have experienced from Hoseason properties previously. An example being in a cottage for 4 there was 1 spoon, 3 tired looking teaspoons, 2 mismatched wine glasses, no table mats and no can opener - all fairly basic homely expectations.Positives:Its lovely and quiet, it really is a retreat. Good wifi signal and selection of TV options. Once the heating was on, the cottage warmed up quickly and was easy to keep warm. The cottage has lovely high ceilings and exposed beams, the furnishing were tastefully done.

We had a fantastic stay at this cosy cottage! The place is super well kept and had everything we needed. Our dog loved the nearby walks and the host was lovely-really quick to reply and friendly. Meeting the farm animals, especially Penelope the pig, was a real highlight. Definitely coming back, such good value! Highly recommend.

We stayed at this place and honestly, it was lovely. The house is super well equipped and kept us warm during that rainy December weather. The bath was perfect and the shower was big enough for a proper rinse! The location is ideal, especially if your dog hates fireworks-it's super quiet and in the middle of nowhere. Don't let the flight path put you off, we barely noticed. Thanks a lot!

We had a lovely stay at Goddard's Mead! Rob and Sharon really put a lot of effort into beautifully restoring this historic building and it shows. They made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived, along with Bonnie, of course. The location is perfect for exploring Essex - we enjoyed wandering around Thaxted and the nearby villages, soaking up the charm and history. Definitely a place we'd recommend for a relaxing break!

We had such a lovely stay in this peaceful spot, tucked away in a really private area. The hosts were super friendly and always on hand if we needed anything, but we still felt totally secluded. The hot tub was just what we needed after a long day of cycling - absolute bliss! The only thing to note is that the cottage is right under the flight path at Stansted, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It took us a couple of hours to get used to it, but honestly, it didnt ruin our trip at all. Wed definitely go back!

We had such a lovely stay! The owners are genuinely kind and really went out of their way to help us. The charming cottage, with its traditional half-timbered look, felt warm and inviting, especially with the well-heated rooms and spotless cleanliness. The shower was fantastic and the cosy living and kitchen area made it perfect for relaxing. Plus, having parking right next to the cottage was a real bonus. Great walks nearby and easy trips to Thaxted. Wed definitely come back!
