If you like to get away on the spur of the moment, there are some great late breaks around right now. Our last minute lodge bargains cover everything from lakeside retreats in Cumbria to beachside getaways in Devon, sorted by start date so the soonest arrivals come first.
Picture it. You finish work on Thursday, throw a bag in the car, and by Friday teatime you’re on the decking of a woodland lodge with the hot tub bubbling and nothing planned for three whole days. That’s what last minute lodge breaks are all about: no flights and no months of planning, just a spontaneous escape to the countryside or the coast. You book a few days or a couple of weeks ahead and go.
From peaceful rural hideaways to lively resorts with a swimming pool and kids’ clubs, there’s a huge range of lodges free at short notice, including plenty of lodges with hot tubs.
How do late lodge deals work?
Parks set their prices months ahead, then cut them on any dates still unsold as arrival day gets closer. An empty lodge earns nothing, so a discounted stay beats no stay at all.
Hoseasons, who supply many of the lodges on our site, say they regularly run late discounts of up to 30%, though the size of any last minute deal depends on the park and how near the date is.
What counts as last minute?
Most operators count anything within about two weeks of arrival as a last minute UK holiday. Some go much later than that. Hoseasons say same-day arrival is possible at many of their parks, with check-in usually from early afternoon, so a lodge found over breakfast can be yours by teatime!
What you trade for the saving
- Less choice, as the most popular parks and biggest lodges go first.
- Fixed dates, often a Friday or Monday arrival.
- Paying in full when you book.
- Few discounts in school holidays or on bank holiday weekends.
Finding late UK breaks: our step by step
Searching for late breaks UK-wide is easy once you know where the deals hide.
- Start with the offers search. Our late deals search only shows discounted dates, soonest first.
- Be flexible on the region. If Windermere is full, the North Yorkshire coast or Northumberland may have a similar lodge for less.
- Pick a short break. Three nights from Friday or four nights from Monday are the usual patterns, and midweek is often cheaper than a weekend break.
- Check 7 nights too. With a discount on, 7 nights can cost little more than three or four.
- Filter for what matters. Tick hot tub or pets first, then sort by price.
- Read the small print. See what’s included, the pet rules and the parking before you pay.

Where to go for a last minute getaway
Every corner of the UK has lodges that come free late, and these are the areas we’d look at first.
- The Lake District: log cabins and lodge retreats around Windermere, Keswick and Ullswater, many with lake views and a village pub nearby.
- Devon and Cornwall: coastal parks close to surf beaches and the South West Coast Path.
- Dorset: lodges near the Jurassic Coast, with sandy beaches and clifftop walks.
- Yorkshire: lodges close to York, the Dales and the North York Moors.
- Northumberland: forest lodges around Kielder, with some of the darkest skies in England.
- Wales: lakeside parks near Tenby on the west Wales coast.
- Scotland: Highland lodges with mountain and loch views, and a national park on the doorstep.
Forest Holidays also run their own late deals on log cabins deep in the woods, if you fancy a forest escape away from the bigger resorts. Whichever you pick, you’ll have the countryside to explore from the door.
When are the best last minute holiday breaks in the UK?
The quieter the month, the deeper the cut tends to be. Here’s how the year usually looks for holiday park bargains, rated for value rather than weather.
Last minute October breaks
October is a month of two halves. Half term week is busy, yet the weeks around it are quiet, the forest turns copper and gold, and it’s dark early enough to make the hot tub feel like a proper treat. Look for a midweek stay just before or after half term.
Bargain bank holiday breaks
Bank holiday weekends are the hardest dates to get cheap, as everyone has the same days off. Your best chance is a late cancellation, or a region further from the big cities. Here are the next dates from GOV.UK, with half terms for England added:
| Date | What’s on | Late deal chances |
|---|---|---|
| 26 to 30 October 2026 | October half term (most of England) | Low. Try the weeks either side |
| 30 November 2026 | St Andrew’s Day (Scottish bank holiday) | Good. Quiet everywhere else |
| 25 and 28 December 2026 | Christmas Day and Boxing Day (substitute) | Very low |
| 1 January 2027 | New Year’s Day | Low, then high from the next week |
| 15 to 19 February 2027 | February half term (most of England) | Low for family parks |
| 26 and 29 March 2027 | Good Friday and Easter Monday | Low. Midweek after Easter is better |
| 3 May and 31 May 2027 | Early May and spring bank holidays | Good midweek between them |
| 2 August (Scotland) and 30 August 2027 | Summer bank holidays | Very low |
School dates vary by council and academy, so check yours.
A last minute holiday in January
Once the decorations are down, prices really drop. Frosty mornings, empty footpaths and a log burner in the evening make a lovely reset after the festive rush.
Scotland has an extra bank holiday on 4 January 2027.

Last minute lodges with hot tubs, dogs and room for everyone
Hot tub lodges go first, so tick that box before anything else. Most parks have pet-friendly lodges too, and North Devon around Ilfracombe is a favourite for beach walks. Add your dog when you book so the park gives you the right lodge.
Going as a group? A three-bedroom lodge retreat shared between friends often works out cheaper per head than a hotel.

UK lodges last minute FAQs
What counts as a last minute lodge holiday?
Usually anything booked within about two weeks of arrival. Some parks take bookings on the day, with check-in from early afternoon.
How much can I save on a late lodge deal?
It depends on the park and the dates. Hoseasons regularly offer late discounts of up to 30%, with the biggest cuts on quiet midweek dates.
When are last minute cheap breaks in the UK easiest to find?
January, September and November are usually best. Stays starting on a Monday are often cheaper than a Friday arrival.
Can I find late deals in the school holidays?
It’s harder. Try a quieter region, a smaller park or a one-bedroom lodge for two.
Do I pay in full for a late booking?
Usually, yes. The balance is due a set time before arrival, so a late booking is normally paid in full. Check the booking conditions first.
Is 7 nights worth it over a short break?
Sometimes. Once a discount is on, 7 nights can cost not much more than a short break, so compare both.
