Visitor Reviews of Woodside Bay Lodge Retreat

Laura, Gb
Date of stay: 29th July 2019
The lodge itself was clean and comfortable but the weeds around the outside did spoil the lodge.
Sophia, Gb
Date of stay: 26th July 2019
The lodge was lovely. Stylish and very comfortable and we had a lovely holiday.

My only constructive criticism is that general maintenance of the lodge has been ignored eg. overflowing guttering on rainy days, broken curtain rails so curtains hanging off/not closing properly, there was a broom for sweeping up but no dustpan and the velux window control didn't work.
Kellie, Sutton
Date of stay: 26th July 2019
Lodge was really lovely and clean and well maintained. Just a couple of little niggly things - main en-suite door didnt lock.
Really pleased with linen, towels and robes! Plus the little extras such as tea, coffee and a dishwasher :)

Date of stay: 1st July 2019
Great lodge. Spacious, clean and would highly recommend. Loved the decor. 3 bathrooms for 4 bedrooms. Fully equipped kitchen. Would be good if there were 4 dishwasher tablets, a sponge and washing up liquid as we ate in most evenings. Beds were very comfortable. in the summer fans would be a great extra in the bedrooms.

Wonderful lodge. Very comfortable. We were lucky enough to visit on a warm weekend. Unfortunately we were unable to open the roof windows. Instructions would have been appreciated, though that did not effect our enjoyment.

Date of stay: 28th June 2019
Very good lodge, spoilt by some lack of cleaning, ie unemptied bin and dirty shower drain so it didn't drain away properly

Lovely break..loved all natural fauna.and wildlife...within distance of all lovely places to visit.Sun lounges on decking to relax on would have been nice

Date of stay: 28th June 2019
This was our third visit, as usual staff were helpful. Still think the restaurant is not quite there on menu and service. Customers need to be aware of the need to pre book or they will be disappointed. Site is what we require peaceful and relaxing. Three years on the television service does not work correctly, but this is our only gripe. Lodge was spotless and well furnished.

The lodge is the best one we've ever stayed in, spacious, light and airy it is comfortable and a treat to stay in. The only negative for us is the cutlery and glasses were in short supply. But it wasn't a big deal nor did it detract from what was a wonderful stay and we'd love to visit again.

Apart from stained carpets .and wine stains up walls ,it was lovely .

Date of stay: 24th June 2019
Large open plan living area, bedrooms a little on the small side. Family bathroom was great for children. LED floor lighting in the bedroom corridor. Kitchen was very well equipped. The enclosed decking was great for a 2 year old not being able to escape if we left the doors open.
Vikas, London

Excellent stay, would like to come back
Dawn, Doncaster
Date of stay: 22nd June 2019
The lodge was very comfortable. The only problem was the TVs kept turning off
Helen, Tonypandy
Date of stay: 22nd June 2019
Excellent location. Plenty of space in the lodge. Some outside maintenance wouldn't go a miss to deal with guttering but understandable given the surrounding trees
Rosalind, Wrexham
Date of stay: 22nd June 2019
A lovely Park, Lodge almost !00% perfect, great for relaxing.
I am a sun worshiper! although I loved the natural setting of the plants and shrubs surrounding the lodge, including the wildlife, the decking itself was almost completely under the shadow of the trees. At 6.30 - 7.00 am the sun shone through a tiny gap onto the decking but very little any other time of the day. Looking around the Park some Lodges clearly received day-time sun (when out!). Would it be at all possible to indicate whether a Lodge was wholly in the trees or not?

I've said all I needed to say in previous sections.

Still want compensation for television not working
Steven, Gb
Date of stay: 21st June 2019
Being a regular usually happy customer, these are observations of my latest stay only, Poorly prepared lodge, lots of essentials missing, no TV signal, wifi was intermittent, no cleaning kit, milk, dressing gowns, poor hot tub only two seats working, slippers nothing essential just annoyance, would of been reported on site but in work all opening hours, its a shame because the staff are excellent in my experience.
Warren, Herefordshire
Date of stay: 21st June 2019
Our own fault for not speaking out but our lodge had a terrible stench coming from the second bathroom.. I used 2 bottles of bleach over the week and scrubbed everything but it still came back... Had we not of arrived late at night I probably would of got someone straight in but we thought initially it was from being closed up... The hot tub was not the cleanest I spoke to one of the staff who were checking the chemicals etc and he said that the grime I pointed out would come off with a wet cloth.... I cleaned some and then the following day it looked like someone had either cleaned it or upd the chemicals. The floors through out were filthy which we found out after one of our party were ill with a bug and I went to purchase a mop and bucket and floor cleaner.. Let's just say once it had a mop through was lovely... The sheet on the king bed had a dirty mark on it. All the cutlery and crockery were not clean some plates even had dried food on them.Just glad we had booked while there was a slight price reduction... Don't get me wrong with the allocated times the staff get to clean these lodges ready for the next booking it must be a rush. We didn't let it spoil our break... And I did ask that they sort out the stench before someone else had to put up with it as it was rather bad.
We have stayed in a Darwin lodge elsewhere before and it was spotless which is why we chose a Darwin one again...

We had a great time in the Isle of Wight and picked a great holiday site!
Virginia, Lewes
Date of stay: 21st June 2019
The lodge was lovely - really clean and spacious. The beds only had a sheet on the mattress so would have benefitted from an undersheet to make them more comfortable.
The receptionists and staff were polite but most of the time the restaurant was closed and their were no spa treatments available as it was also closed.
We went the week of the Festival and were very disappointed that there was no transport available to the Festival. It is a good 20 mins from the main road at Wootton so not a good venue if you don't have a car.
Shirley, Kidderminster

Would recommend this park. Lovely surroundings and close to the beach.

Anne
Excellent accommodation and very helpful staff. Its a beautiful clean and tidy site right on the water so excellent for taking walks with the dog and for children. The accommodation was 5 star and we will defiantly be visiting again
Marcus
Excellent holiday and good base for exploring the island. Very good woodland location especially if you want to see red squirrels which are non existent in most of the mainland
Robert
Excellent holiday, spotlessly clean spacious comfy lodge, wonderful decking and hot tub. Beautiful location . We went with our 10 month old and still managed to have a peaceful relaxing holiday. 10/10
Chris
Amazing relaxing weekend away. Peaceful location, accommodation was beyond what expected! Perfect base to explore the Isle of Wight.
Amy
Perfect location nice and relaxed and quite. Just a stone's throw to the beach. The lodge was very nice and spacious.
Lisa
This was our 2nd visit to Woodside Bay Lodge Retreat & we loved it just as much as the first time!!
Dianne
We were very pleased with the lodge, the way it was fitted out and the hot tub. Would not hesitate to return sometime. We were also very lucky to have some excellent weather during our stay.
Stephen
Wonderfully equipped and comfortable cabin in superb location, with coastal or woodland walks close by. Helpful and friendly staff . All round excellent experience
George
Brilliant lodges 2nd visit to Woodside and plan to return again. Also booked a week at the park near Bath in September
Terri
Our 3rd stay at Darwin Escape property and 2nd at Woodside. Lodge is well equipped but could do with more storage in bedrooms. A little disappointed with cleanliness this time around, floors and skirting dusty, but in no way did this spoil our stay. Peaceful location and very convenient for ferry, pub is about 20 minutes walk away. Tesco Express is 5 minute drive, but the Tesco Extra in Ryde offer delivery or click and collect. We'll return for our annual "doggie" holiday next year.
