Visitor Reviews of Thorness Bay

Ella, Tilbury
Date of stay: 8th May 2025
Wow, we had such a great stay! The lodge was even better than we thought - honestly, it exceeded our expectations. The walk-in wardrobes in both rooms were a real treat and having TVs in all the bedrooms was such a nice touch. The loft space was a bonus too! The only thing was the double bed mattress was a bit smaller than the frame, but it didn't ruin our trip at all. Weve definitely been spoiled now and will be booking lodges more often!

The caravan was nice overall, but we only had one bread knife, so we had to pick up a small one ourselves.

Honestly, this place worked pretty well for us. Were not drivers, so maybe its not ideal if youre planning to stay in all day, but for exploring the isl and, its spot on. The rooms were spacious enough, though a bit dated, but still comfy. We did have a door that wouldnt quite close and a shower head that kept falling, but luckily we had some tools and sorted it ourselves. The place was pretty clean overall, except for the windows, which needed a proper scrub. The cutlery, glasses and pans were a bit grubby, so we just gave them a quick wash. We also ran out of bedding for the fifth person, but that wasnt a big issue since we had some extras. Honestly, these are really minor things. The seating was comfy and the beds were nice. Its a good base to start from and had everything we needed to enjoy our trip. Not perfect, but definitely decent!

We stayed at a lovely place-really modern and spotless! The only hiccup was the towel warmer, which was hanging a bit loose. Definitely something to sort out for safetys sake.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The lodge itself was stunning and perfect for a relaxing getaway. Some small issues, like finding dirty dishes in the dishwasher and a slightly untidy floor, were a bit disappointing but didnt ruin it. The outside couldve been a bit cleaner too, with cobwebs here and there. On the bright side, having two bedrooms with full double beds was a real bonus. Would definitely go back!

We were honestly really pleased with the caravans. They felt surprisingly spacious and comfy, which was a nice surprise. The pet-friendly ones veranda was a proper bonus-plenty of room to sit out. Everything was well stocked and the hot water was plentiful. No complaints at all!

We recently stayed at Thorness Bay and honestly, it was a lovely break for us. The location is pretty straightforward to find since the signs are clear, which was a relief. We got there a bit earlier than check-in and took a chance on our caravan being ready - and luckily, it was! The staff couldnt have been more friendly and welcoming, which made the whole process smooth and hassle-free. We booked the Nautical Caravan, which Id say is mid-range based on the pictures online. I even considered upgrading the day before, but Im really glad I didnt because the caravan we ended up with was great. It had two bedrooms, a nice bathroom and a combined kitchen-living area, all spotlessly clean. My five-year-olds reaction on stepping inside was adorable-she said, Mummy, theres a table! Isnt that great? Shes seen tables before but was amazed there were two. There were two comfy sofa chairs and a sofa, with plenty of space to move around. I loved the French doors that opened up to let in the sunshine. Our spot was in Solent Breeze, at the top end of the park, away from the main entertainment area. Honestly, it was perfect for us. The spacing between caravans was just right and the view over the bay made the walk worth it. Its a short stroll to the complex, especially once you find the right cut-throughs. The entertainment team was lovely-so friendly and engaging. Our daughter loved the kids activities and we enjoyed the party dances ourselves. The pool was quite busy at times, but there was still plenty of room to splash around. The slide was a hit for all ages-so much fun! We didnt try the restaurant or chippy, so cant comment on those. All in all, were already looking forward to our next visit to Thorness Bay. It really was a great holiday for us!

Date of stay: 11th April 2024
We had a lovely break here, even though caravans aren't usually our thing and we prefer overseas holidays. As just the two of us, it was perfect as a base, but I can totally see why families love it. Great value too!
