Visitor Reviews of Salterns Village

Emily, Stroud
Date of stay: 10th February 2025
Honestly, having to park at the entrance and walk along that gravel path was quite the hassle. The noise from cars and people crunching on the gravel, especially at night, really got on our nerves. Its a bit inconvenient and spoiled the experience a little.

Really enjoyed our stay, such a charming and comfortable little cottage, felt like home.

Date of stay: 23rd December 2024
We had a lovely stay at this cosy little cottage near the nature reserve. The place was spotless and kept in great condition, perfect for exploring the area. The only thing missing was a dustpan and brush in the kitchen, which wouldve been handy. The beds were a bit firm, but overall, wed definitely recommend it for a nice break!

We really appreciated how well everything was organised and the place itself was just lovely. The hosts were genuinely warm and super helpful. Its honestly been a fantastic trip and were already planning to return soon!

The isl and was beautiful and perfect for a relaxing break, though we wish wed had more time to explore everything. Sadly, Osborne House was only open to the gardens, which was a bit of a letdown. Still, we really enjoyed the Monkey Haven and the overall vibe of the place!

The owners are genuinely lovely and super helpful, especially when the storm knocked out the power. The cottage is spotless, well-equipped and really cosy. Our dog loved the enclosed yard and we enjoyed the hot tub too!

The place was spotless and well-equipped, which we really appreciated. The only downside was the pillows-they were way too soft and didnt offer much support. Otherwise, it was a really good stay!

We had a really lovely stay! The cottage was spotless and had everything we could possibly need, plus some nice little touches. Highly recommend!

Date of stay: 5th August 2024
Overall, we found the cottage to be decent and tidy, though its clear its seen better days and could do with a thorough clean. The decking was very slippery when wet, so wed advise caution, especially for anyone a bit unsteady on their feet. Not bad, but could be improved!

We had an amazing time! The location is absolutely stunning and wed definitely come back if we visit the Isle of Wight again.

We had a lovely stay overall, but a couple of things could be better. The fridge was a bit on the tiny side, which was a pain. Also, there wasnt much for a 9-month-old to do. Still, it was a great break and well return once the babys a bit older!

We loved staying at this charming cottage - its perfectly tucked away yet close enough to everything we needed. The hot tub and underfloor heating in the bathroom were real highlights. Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel so welcome. Cant wait to return for a longer stay!

We had a lovely stay! The owners were genuinely warm and thoughtful, making us feel really welcome. The cottage itself is adorable, with that charming half-timbered look and a lovely, strong shower. The bed was comfy and the cosy lounge and kitchen made it feel like a home away from home. Parking right next to the property was super convenient. Plus, the area offers great walks to Thaxted and easy trips to see the windmill and village charm. Definitely recommend!

The cottage was spotless and I genuinely felt reassured that everything was thoroughly sanitised during these COVID times. Its a shame the cafe was shut because it wouldve been perfect to sit outside and enjoy some company while maintaining social distancing. Hope it reopens soon!

Seaview was lovely, super clean and peaceful. Not much for kids on-site, but perfect for biking and long beach strolls. We really enjoyed it!

Date of stay: 4th June 2023
We had a really lovely stay at Goddard's Mead. The owners, Rob & Sharon, put a lot of care into transforming this historic building and it shows. They were so welcoming from the moment we arrived, along with Bonnie, of course. The place offers everything you need for a comfy, relaxing break. Plus, the location is perfect for exploring Essex - we spent ages wandering around Thaxted and nearby villages, soaking up the history and charming buildings. Would definitely recommend!
Emma, Hove, East Sussex
Date of stay: 27th July 2020
We had a lovely, relaxing stay! The isl and has so much to offer, but a week isnt enough to see it all. We specifically wanted to visit Osborne House, but only the gardens were open, which was a real letdown. Still, everything else was pretty nice and we really enjoyed Monkey Haven too.
Emma, Rutland
Date of stay: 14th October 2019
The cottage was okay, quite tidy but clearly showing some wear and tear. It could do with a proper clean. The deckings pretty slippy when wet, so folks who arent steady on their feet should be careful-especially in rainy weather. Not perfect, but decent enough!
James, Hindhead
Date of stay: 21st September 2019
Great holiday, would definitely come back again!

We had a fantastic time in this stunning place! If we visit the Isle of Wight again, staying here is a no-brainer.
