Visitor Reviews of Thanet Well Lodge Retreat

Mr Swindlehurst
One of the best accommodations I have ever stayed in, the grounds were lovely, the views were great and not to far from the lakes. It is a great please to stop at and to use as your base for exploring the Lake District or just to use as a retreat to get away from it all and just kick off your shoes & relax.

We recently stayed at Thanet Lodge Well Retreat and honestly, it was a lovely escape. The views are breathtaking, with fields and mountains all around, making it super peaceful and scenic. The lodges are spotless, modern and well-equipped - everything we needed was there, from comfy beds to warm showers. Heating was straightforward to control, which is a plus. They even provide dishwasher tablets, sponges and dish soap, so no fuss there, though we did bring some antibacterial wipes just in case. The hot tub was a highlight - always clean, checked daily and perfect temperature, with stunning vistas to enjoy. Location-wise, its good, with some nice pubs nearby like Odd Fellows Arms. All in all, a really pleasant few days away in a lovely place.

The cabin was pretty well kitted out and spotless, though a bit dated. Still, we loved it! The hot tub was absolutely fantastic! Definitely recommend it.

We had a great 4-night stay, honestly felt just like being at home. There were a couple of maintenance hiccups, but when I called reception, the plumber arrived almost immediately, which was handy. Apart from that, we all really enjoyed ourselves. Definitely planning to book again soon and already recommending it to family and friends!

Really cosy and spotless place, we loved how comfy it was. Shame about the WiFi though - streaming on the Smart TV was a bit of a pain.

We recently stayed at Thanet Well Lodge Retreat for a little weekend getaway with friends and overall, it was quite an experience. The staff were really helpful when it came to suggesting activities and things to do around the area, which was appreciated. However, there were a few surprises during our stay that werent exactly pleasant. The moment we stepped into the lodge, we noticed the heating was set to a chilly 12C, which isnt the most inviting, especially on a cold, rainy evening. It turned out that the heating was on a timer, so it kept turning off just as it was starting to feel a bit warmer. It took ages for the place to warm up properly and by then, we were all bundled up in extra duvets - we even kept our thermals on the whole time! The facilities inside the lodge worked fine, but a little niggle was the drawer handles kept falling off, which got pretty frustrating after a while. Plus, the paint on the cupboards was peeling, making the place look a bit shabby.Another thing that dampened the experience was the lack of daily housekeeping. No one came in to make beds, change towels, or even top up the toilet roll. Were five ladies sharing just two rolls and when we asked for more, we were told wed have to pay extra for that. Its a shame, because the overall vibe was good, but the accommodation definitely didnt match the standards of our previous visit two years ago. Still, it was a weekend to remember, even if for the wrong reasons!

We stayed with a group of six ladies and really enjoyed our time. The place was super clean and tidy and the rooms were quite spacious. The kitchen had everything we needed and the towels and bedding were fresh. Only small gripe was the radiator dust, which could do with a quick clean. When it snowed, it looked stunning, but the high winds blew the hot tub cover off. We reported it but it wasnt fixed, so we only used it on the first night.

Honestly, we were really disappointed with how Hoseasons handled our booking. They just changed the lodge without telling us and didnt communicate at all. We only found out when we reached out to Thenet Well Retreat about decorations for our anniversary. Its just poor service, especially when its a special occasion. Quite frustrating!
Jessica
Date of stay: 27th November 2024
Honestly, the lodge was quite disappointing. The facilities felt pretty basic and the kitchen seemed cheaply fitted. The main bedroom window had a gap at the top, so the wind whistled all night and the fridge kept bleeping because the door kept dropping. Not what we expected.
Sarah Bennett
Date of stay: 27th November 2024
The lodge was fantastic, really spacious for our hyper cocker spaniel puppy to zoom around. The decking was secure and the hot tub was perfectly positioned, so it didnt spoil the view. Very clean and well-stocked with towels too.

The furniture was decent, though we had six people but only five seats, which was a bit of a pain. Overall, the lodge was nicely presented and beds were comfy.
Emily
Date of stay: 10th November 2024
We stayed in this lovely lodge with three bedrooms, all super comfy beds which made for a great sleep. The ensuites shower was really good and the main bathroom had a nice bath with an over-the-bath shower, perfect for relaxing. The walls are standard lodge thin, so you do hear the boiler kicking in at night, but if youre a heavy sleeper, you probably wont notice. The TV had Freeview, DVDs and games, which kept us entertained. The kitchen was fully equipped and spacious enough for our family of four plus the dog. The hot tub was an absolute highlight - so relaxing with stunning mountain views! The lodge felt very private and not overlooked at all. Honestly, wed definitely recommend it for a getaway, it was just perfect!

We loved the peaceful vibe here. The lodge was really nice and comfy and the other lodges looked pretty good too. The mini shop had the essentials, which was handy. Honestly, youll need a car since its quite remote; the pubs about 4 miles away. Plenty of walks to enjoy and the sound of sheep bleating in the distance made it so relaxing. It was such a lovely, tranquil break for us. Were definitely coming back!

Really disappointed with our stay. The facilities didn't meet expectations and the smell and stains on the bedding were off-putting. Won't be back.

Date of stay: 18th October 2024
The lodge was spacious, plenty of room for everyone and the kitchen was lovely for cooking. The view was absolutely stunning too! We loved it.
Rachel Turner
Date of stay: 17th October 2024
We had a lovely stay at the lodge, it was really clean and the views were stunning, which we loved. However, the onsite staff, especially the maintenance guy, left quite a bad impression. From the moment we arrived, he was rude and unprofessional, approaching us on the first night with no hint of friendliness or proper manners. It was clear he lacked any customer service skills. Things didnt improve much after that; one morning when he came to check the hot tub chemicals, we could hear him swearing and shouting outside, which was pretty intimidating. The hot tubs are quite exposed, so passersby could easily see you and we often caught him staring at us for no reason as he walked past. Honestly, it made us feel like we were being watched the entire time and we felt we couldnt really relax outside without feeling uncomfortable. Overall, unless youre okay with rude staff and feeling watched, I wouldnt recommend this place. Such a shame because the lodge itself was lovely.
