Visitor Reviews of Thanet Well Lodge Retreat

Mr Swindlehurst
One of the best accommodations I have ever stayed in, the grounds were lovely, the views were great and not to far from the lakes. It is a great please to stop at and to use as your base for exploring the Lake District or just to use as a retreat to get away from it all and just kick off your shoes & relax.

Great lodge but the hot tub not working on all the jets, the electric fire needs the fire effect looking at, besides that a well presented and perfectly located. Thank you.

Was disappointing for a Premier Holiday LodgeWhen I questioned the word Premier, I was just told that that means it has a hot tub. Very misleading

The lodge was not very clean. Had to wipe down everything when we arrived as there was noticeable dirt that has been missed, as well as we had to clean cutlery and crockery before use. The floor had not seemed to have been cleaned, and their was no mob for use to clean the floor with. We had lukewarm water the full stay. The showers were in need of an update as one was not fit for purpose or adjustable. Definitely in need of an update and a deep deep clean. Staff lovely and friendly. The little shop in reception was very handy and well stocked with the essential and then more. If the cabins were updated we would definitely stay again.

Great lodge, modern and spacious with amazing wide-screen views of Blencathra. Shower was excellent, pressure really good. Hot tub was good, not too hot like some we have been to.Our only issues were that the floor needs a good steam clean as walking around barefoot and your soles turn black. We were only supplied with one dishwasher tablet which was disappointing. Also, WiFi was non existent but as our phones were working fine it was ok.Overall, fully recommend!

Although our stay was comfortable there was a lingering smell of dampness particularly in the main bedroom. Also a drain smell around sink and washer. Otherwise good and a hot water problem we had was instantly cared for. None of these particularly spoiled our stay.

The lodge is spacious, it is a shame that the blinds were broken and some dirty, the main bedroom window broken and unable to open. Facilities were fine. The entrance was full of webs that the cleaners did not clean, while in the country, the webs were old, full of dirt .

The only thing we needed was a reclining chair as my disabled husband really struggled to get on and off the settee, also getting around to the patio was not possible as could not get past the table and chairs

Moved from before arrival form lodge 15 to an owners lodge no 4 as hot tub broken for three weeks . Lodge 4 is stunning and in a great location and was very comfy but has maintenance issues and needs high level dusting in places .En-suite shower valve is faulty and dangerous can only have a safe shower turning water temp down on boiler .Drain for on en-suite sink loose and not screw connected so leaked on floor until pushed back in .Fridge defrost drain blocked and floods base of chiller cabinet .Shelves in fridge door broken and stuck with tape and too weak to hold items Steps need stonework repairing as loose and dangerous trip hazard.Ceiling lights in lounge and tall lampIn dining area need a good forms and dust as like feltIron washing had to for an to use and boiler cupboard needs a deep clean Smoke detector looks older then the 10Years they recommend and was weak so borrowed from reception may need replacing. Needs proper wifi , owner should provide a dongle or full broadband and not say go to reception its a luxury lodge and should have wifi.Reported all Issues to reception but no direct contact with owner so unsure how often they check it over Loved the lodge but missed out on being 10/10 or excellent due to above

Our third stay as a group at Thanet Well lodges. Weve stayed in a different lodge each time but all have been great for our stay: clean, relatively well equipped and spacious. We had a few hiccups around missing dining room furniture (only 4 chairs in a 6 person lodge), tripped fuses (pesky toaster) and a surprise drained hot tub (oops) but nothing was too much hassle for the team who were happy to help and get everything sorted for us. The photos on the website dont quite translate to the lodge you stay in - so manage your own expectation when you walk through the door. Its never been an issue because the lodge has been suited for us but there are certainly differences. We love this site, we love the view, the location is ideal and we will absolutely be back again. Weve recommended to friends and will continue to do so - thank you!

We have stayed at Thanet Well previously with no issues however this time not so great - we were given Lodge 27 - Great location and amazing views. Issues with Lodge were endless - Boiler everyday tripped out on pressure (luckily i know how to top up), Beds very uncomfortable the single ones feel like you are sleeping on cardboard. General wear and tear of the lodge it needs some serious TLC. NO Wifi it states Wifi is limited but this lodge had NONE. Window in main bedroom cannot open as broken so stuff with Paper Towels (if windy) very noisy and cold. Black mould in the shower in the main bathroom (poor cleaning as i managed to remove with a good harsh wipe down) other bathroom not quite as bad but could do with some improvements to make shower better etc. Outside the hot tub was good however the decking needed a good clean which i feel would then make it less slippy! I do love this site it such a great spot and quiet but this visit really did disappoint and I didn't book at the last minute

We recently stayed at Thanet Lodge Well Retreat and honestly, it was a lovely escape. The views are breathtaking, with fields and mountains all around, making it super peaceful and scenic. The lodges are spotless, modern and well-equipped - everything we needed was there, from comfy beds to warm showers. Heating was straightforward to control, which is a plus. They even provide dishwasher tablets, sponges and dish soap, so no fuss there, though we did bring some antibacterial wipes just in case. The hot tub was a highlight - always clean, checked daily and perfect temperature, with stunning vistas to enjoy. Location-wise, its good, with some nice pubs nearby like Odd Fellows Arms. All in all, a really pleasant few days away in a lovely place.

The cabin was pretty well kitted out and spotless, though a bit dated. Still, we loved it! The hot tub was absolutely fantastic! Definitely recommend it.

We had a great 4-night stay, honestly felt just like being at home. There were a couple of maintenance hiccups, but when I called reception, the plumber arrived almost immediately, which was handy. Apart from that, we all really enjoyed ourselves. Definitely planning to book again soon and already recommending it to family and friends!

The lodge was lovely and really well equipped, perfect for a relaxing stay. Despite some signs of previous guests, it was spotless and comfortable. The dog-friendly aspect was a big plus and everything was thoughtfully laid out. Wed definitely come back!
