Date of stay: 18th June 2018
Great place. Could do with a good clean every once in a while as there were quite alot of cobwebs around the windows and it was generally dusty in places. Outside is not as good as the others i saw which had a nice decked seating area, sycamore only had a table and 4 fold up chairs on a slope where you park your car. Overall though it is still a place i would hire again and again.

The only downside was the shower. The hot/cold was very intermittent and the power of the shower wasn't great. Everything else was great and we would still come back again. It was a really cosy lodge, perfect for a few days.

A brilliant, we'll stocked and pretty log cabin.
The on site Restaurant wasn't - a half hour walk across the golf course.
If you haven't got a torch you'd not find your way back.
The Restaurant menu was samey & portions were mammoth size...I ordered scampi & had about 2 whole bags without the chips....too big!
Date of stay: 17th September 2017
The lodge has everything you would need, they have welcome items too, tea milk and biscuits. And the views are beautiful.

Date of stay: 13th February 2017
We had a great time. The lodge suited our large family perfectly. This is our second time to the Murray lodge and we love the space it gives our family. This is a great location if you like playing golf and need just somewhere spacious to stay. The only fault I could give is a small one and that's if there could be a better dog exercise area, to let dogs off lead that would be most appreciated.
N, London
Date of stay: 11th February 2017
Loved the look of the Alpine Lodge, so comfortable for a few days stay! The dog loved it too!

Date of stay: 24th September 2016
A tiny niggle about little log - the light switches are in inconvenient places....... apart from that its a lovely little lodge and we really enjoyed our stay
John, Northwood
Date of stay: 17th September 2016
We were pleasantly surprised. The lodge is situated on an elevated position with views across the valley & golf course. It was comfortably furnished without being too intimidating as we had our 2 dogs with us. They loved their long walks around the complex and along the canal that runs through it. (A torch could be useful if venturing out after dark). We enjoyed feeding the birds on the veranda - the nuthatches (normally shy birds) became increasingly bold together with numerous tits, chaffinches, robins and a cheeky squirrel. (Take a bag of seed with you or buy one from reception). The complex was well looked after and the staff were friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Andrew, Blackburn
Date of stay: 10th September 2016

Date of stay: 4th March 2016
Pleasantly surprised as we opened the door as lodge much bigger than we were expecting. All furnishings very comfortable. Had everything we could have wished for.
Paul, Stoke On Trent
Date of stay: 27th February 2016
I do think Little Lodge would benefit from having a broom and a mop and bucket in there, it would have made it easier for us to clean up muddy paws off the kitchen floor.

And just a small moan but the widows needed a clean, I wiped them over but the inside had cobwebs and smeared but we didn't have a key to open them.
Kathryn, Llandudno
Date of stay: 19th February 2016
The cabin was quaint with well stocked cupboards of crockery, utensils and cutlery. Plenty of space for all (2 double bed rooms and 1 twin bed room). Main window and views are stunning!
Henriette, Wootton
Date of stay: 18th February 2016
Fabulous location. Lovely lake and river - and animal pen. A handy guide on the dinning table with things to see - although it would be nice to have post codes added so my Sat-Nav could easily find them. Lovely lodge. Nice and clean. Nice and warm even with minus temperatures outside. Would definitely go again.
Laura, St Helens
Date of stay: 17th February 2016
The Larches was spacious and very well equipped. The only downside were the showers. the overhead shower in the main bathroom had a kink in the tubing so wouldn't work, however this was fixed with a new tube the next day. Unfortunately we still could't use both showers at the same time even through one was electric you couldn't regulate the temperature in either when used together. this was the only downside to a wonderful holiday and we will definitely be back.
Kevin, Griffithstown
Date of stay: 12th January 2016
The Toft has a bath and is quite big. It doesn't have a veranda like the majority of the other lodges. This can lead to less easy to see nature. I personally preferred the Pines but would love a bath in there. Everything else about the Toft is brill.
Lynda, Wirral
Date of stay: 26th November 2015
The only down side, was the lack of pots and pans for cooking meals. I seem to recall the last time we had stayed in this particular cabin, there was plenty of pans, but this time there was just the bare minimum......(do you know how difficult it is to cook a full roast dinner with all the trimings using just 3 pans?!)
Wayne, Redditch
Date of stay: 9th November 2015
Spacious, cosy and extremely pleasant cabin best of the three I have stayed in since I started coming three years ago
Lynne, Kettering
Date of stay: 11th September 2015

Date of stay: 7th September 2015
Excellent place to stay with beautiful views. It was extremely quiet and relaxing. Everything you need is there for you (even things you might not remember). Brilliant weekend, I would definitely recommend and we will be going back again.
Anne-marie, Lowton Near Warrington
Date of stay: 22nd August 2015
Lovely lodge. Right at the back of the park, so nice + quiet. Stairs down to door a bit steep so be aware. Would have liked a bit cleaner, but surrounded by trees so don't know how much could be done about that! Would definitely return. Xx
Gary, Plymouth
Date of stay: 22nd August 2015
Very spacious Lodge, amazing scenery and extremely peaceful.
Angela, Manchester
Date of stay: 17th August 2015
Excellent lodge, lovely views. Golf club house was ideal for meals (although you need to book in advance) and relaxing after busy day sight seeing, lovely atmosphere, very chilled. One thing that would have been useful is a washing machine, after a day of quad biking left us all a bit muddied!
Jenella, Dudley
Date of stay: 15th August 2015
Was brilliant
Malcolm, Bewdley
Date of stay: 7th August 2015
Perfect location, very helpful staff, amazing cabins.....
The only downside is that they advertise for a great fishing break, i fished a few days on the site pool and tried carp rigs, pole, all various bate and i dougbt the pool is stocked very well at all which was confirmed by talking to anoather angler.
If you want a beautiful break this is the place but not as a fishing break as you would have to go to a local river....
Georgina, Stoke-on-trent

Wonderful spacious lodge fully fitted new kitchen and 3 large bedrooms with plenty of storage space. On suite had an electric shower. Towels were provided and constant hot water if required. WiFi signal also available. Modern t.v. in the corner of the living room with a d.v.d player beneath should the kids need entertaining before bedtime. Overall great value for money for the facilities provided.

Date of stay: 18th July 2015
We could not have asked for anything more
Date of stay: 31st May 2015
Penllwyn hawthorn was a beautiful lodge in a quiet location at the back. It was sufficient, extremely clean, quiet and everything required for a good self catering weekend was in the cabin ready for use. The heating was put on for us prior to our visit which made the lodge feel cosy and welcoming on arrival. I recommend penllwyn hawthorn for a quiet relaxing weekend.
Debra, Bolton
Date of stay: 29th May 2015
The Crows Nest is at the top of the site, with the front of the property being on stilts, with lovely views. We found the balcony which surrounds the property on three sides unsuitable for young children unless closely supervised, due to the potential drop.
The lodge was spotlessly cleans and well equipped. The lounge and beds / bedrooms were comfortable, with plenty of hot water, towels etc.
The decor, linen etc. is dated; the wood panelling is dark, especially in the bedrooms down stairs. The lodge would benefit from modernisation but this is possibly reflected in the very reasonable pricing.
Sarah, Glusburn
Date of stay: 29th May 2015
There was a few cob webs and dust about the lodge that we cleaned ourselves but this didnt spoil our stay.
Sophie, Chesterfield

Date of stay: 3rd April 2015
Great cabin. This cabin seemed more on it's own than the others & was not overlooked at all. The cabin had 2 bathrooms, which we hadn't realised when booking & was certainly a plus. The 2 children's bedrooms where on the ground floor (1 twin, 1 bunk), with a family bathroom. The lounge/diner/kitchen was very spacious with plenty of comfy sofas & a large dining table. From the lounge was a balcony area, with seating to overlook the golf course. Stairs led from the lounge to the 1st floor where there was 2 double en-suite bedrooms (1 with balcony). Both upstairs bedrooms were very large with walk in wardrobes.
Should we get the opportunity to return we would love to return to this cabin.
Date of stay: 30th March 2015
Great. All you need
Date of stay: 16th March 2015
The lodge was warm for when we arrived and was very clean. the lodge had everything you would need. Inside the lodge was very cosy and homelike. There was enough setting for all of us in the sitting room and at the table we did have to pull the table out because on the shape of the lodge roof but that wasn't a problem.
Emma, Mold
Date of stay: 9th March 2015
We stayed in The Oaks lodge for a weekend with our dog and it was fantastic. We wanted to go away and just relax and go for walks with the dog. We walked one way along the canal towards Berriew on the Saturday and on the Sunday we walked the other direction along the canal. It was a lovely walk and the canal runs through between the lodges and the reception so it was nice not to have to get in the car to drive somewhere to go for a walk.

We were not expecting much from the lodge because it allows dogs but it was very clean and tidy. The lounge is located upstairs and it has three double sofas and the TV was a good sized one with all the channels we required to watch TV in the evenings. We also took some DVDs because there is a DVD player. The lodge had everything by way of kitchen facilities.

We cant wait to go back and we have already recommended it to friends.
Date of stay: 8th March 2015
Spacious and beautiful lodge although it's for 6 persons and has only one toilet

Little Lodge was fantastic, very cosy, very clean. Had everything you need including a few little extra touches such as dishcloths, tea towels and bin bags which you always tend to forget! I knocked a point off only because the shower was more of a trickle but there was a bath so no major issue.
Date of stay: 22nd February 2015
the only reason ive give a 6 on furniture & fittings is because the bedroom door fell off as my daughter opened it on the last night.

Date of stay: 20th January 2015
The aspect and privacy of the lodge was wonderful, it was very, very clean but furnishings and carpets a little tired. I would be happy to pay more for this cabin if it were to have a little more luxury the views were stunning.

The 3 day, risky, late booking made it very good vfm. A faulty fridge was efficiently changed and adequately compensated for loss of some food. Although it was near freezing outside, inside was very cosy with plenty of hot water, once the switch had been found behind the microwave. The bathroom extractor fan was ornamental.

there was no washing machine, if you are staying a week or more, would be useful to get washing machine or bring more clothes :)

Loved the Captain's Cabin.

The downstairs bedrooms are ideal if there are folks in your party that can't manage the stairs.

The upstairs main bedrooms are roomy and the on-suite showers, while not the biggest I've seen in a lodge, has enough room to turn around and doesn't feel like a coffin. Suitable for rugby player sized blokes. The showers really kicks out the water like a household power shower.

Watching the golfers from the balcony was fun. If only they knew we could hear every word they said on the one green due to how the acoustics worked. The site is very quiet but the golf course maintenance was noticeable If you like 'the sound of lawn mowers on a Sunday afternoon' then it shouldn't be a problem. The wife and her mum grumbled a bit but I hadn't noticed until I it was pointed out and then it wasn't a problem to me.

There was very limited Television channels
The hot water tap in the kitchen leaked badly when turned on
There was no Wi Fi
The furnishing was pretty dated as was the general decor
We still enjoyed the holiday resort

The lodge was surprisingly big and had every facility we needed. The only annoyance was the electric shower was temperamental, it didn't always heat up, and the fridge door would come open by itself sometimes.

Lovely lodge - Previously stayed in The Larches (2002/2003) and The Mountain lodge (2008). All we could need is there and better in most recent years as electricity is built into the cost of hire rather than pay by meter (no need to take bags of, and worry about not having £1 coins to hand).

Lovely, peaceful place to stay. Will definiteIy be coming back. I have read previous reviews that have commented on outdated furniture, just because it looks old doesn't mean it isn't very very comfortable!! My only problem was the small bed but being used to a king size its no surprise I almost fell out!!

Excellent break. Wish I stayed longer

We had great time we are going back as soon as possible good walks 👍
Excellent holiday specially to switch=off self and rest while enjoying the wonderful surroundings.
These are lovely lodges looked after by lovely. The location will speak for itself.
Love this place. Need hot tubs in the bigger lodges though! More facilities on site would be good too. Pub/food, bigger park.
Lovely lodge, great view and nice walks. Would love to go again.
We originally booked the Hawthorns spa but due to the bad weather and snow the pipes had frozen, the owners were really helpful and were able to relocate us to the Stablings Cottage. It was perfect.
Stunning location! Stayed in Captains lodge. Made us say WOW when we walked in! Plenty of room for our group of 4 adults and 4 kids. Great location for some good old fashioned outdoor fun with the kids (rolling in the leaves, climbing hills and just generally getting dirty!) Friendly and informative welcome on arrival. Had an amazing weekend. One thing I would recommend might be hot tub in the bigger lodges. Would be a great end to the day! Will definately be returning in the near future. Thank you!
Gorgeous place, some lodges don't get WiFi, excellent facilities, great location. Will return
