Castle Menzies is a sixteenth-century Z-plan castle at Weem, near Aberfeldy. It was the seat of the chiefs of Clan Menzies for over 500 years and shows the shift from rugged Highland fortress to more comfortable mansion house. Bonnie Prince Charlie rested here on his way to Culloden, and Duleep Singh, last maharajah of the Sikh Empire, lived here in the 1850s.
Tip: There are steep stone steps, spiral staircases and uneven floors, so wear sensible shoes. The ground-floor film shows the upper floors if stairs are difficult.

Dewar's Aberfeldy Distillery stands on the eastern edge of Aberfeldy, on the southern bank of the River Tay. It is the only distillery built by the Dewar family, and it makes Aberfeldy Single Malt, the largest malt component in Dewar's blended Scotch. The water comes from the Pitilie Burn, which runs alongside the site.

Blair Castle, near Blair Atholl, has been the home of the Atholl family for centuries. We had such a lovely stay at this cosy little cottage! Honestly, we didnt need to pack much because the place is so well equipped. The welcome pack was really handy, packed with all the info and menus - you can tell the owners put a lot of thought into it. Our dogs loved the enclosed garden and the hot tub was just perfect after a long day. Sharon and Robe were super quick to reply if we had questions. Thanks for a great break - well definitely be back!

We spent a week here in mid-July with our two mini dachshunds and it was really lovely. The cottage itself is charming and comfortably furnished, with the hot tub being a real highlight-especially during those scorching days when the cooled water felt so refreshing. The hosts were genuinely welcoming and it was nice to see their dogs taken out to the fields daily. Being close to Stansteds flight path meant we could enjoy watching the planes land, which added a bit of fun to our stay. Wed definitely recommend it!

We had such a lovely weekend here, it really ticked all the boxes for us. The place was perfect and were already planning to return. Our dogs had a blast too - they adored the underfloor heating and the garden. Luna was wagging her tail so much she strained it, but it just shows how much fun they had! Definitely recommend.

The owners, Robert and Sharon, are just lovely people. The place itself is really spacious with well-equipped kitchen and bathroom. The bed was super comfy and the garden, which is dog-proof and beautifully furnished, was just right for relaxing. There are plenty of walks nearby and Thaxted has some nice restaurants like The Star and The Maypole - definitely worth a visit. Wed definitely recommend it!
