Where's High Lodge?
Leanne Read
We spent a very nice weekend at High Lodge and came home feeling very relaxed. The site is small and peaceful and at times we felt like the only ones there. Our lodge was really stylish with a nice balcony area where we could sit out and enjoy the views. My husband enjoyed the golf course too.

If you are paying for the whole Lodge for a family it works out quite expensive.

Works out more reasonable to travelling as a group of friend when only paying per couple.

Stayed in a 3 bedroomed lodge, which would have been a squeeze if 6 adults (2 x 2 seater sofas & 1 armchair) 3rd bedroom only had 1 full size bed, other smaller in length.

Very comfortable and relaxing place , a little noisy on Wednesday evening from the shooting ,will return again as especially relaxing as no signal on our phones.

Date of stay: 29th December 2017
We have stayed here in total three times and we love it, however we had a few issues. Majority of these were rectified whilst we were there, however I feel these should have been checked thoroughly before any clients arrived as it did marr our visit somewhat. The staff were very attentive and helpful and very friendly so it would not stop us from staying at High Lodge again, although I would rather stay in a
different lodge.

Lovely lodge. All we needed. Hot tub excellent.
Carole, West Midlands
Date of stay: 25th November 2017
No privacy as lodges are close together , plant high shrubs?
However lattice fence in front of hot tub would be better in order to see lake, it is very "fenced " in.
Hot tub instructions needed, we were unable to ensure stayed heated and how to work the light

Lovely cabin. Clean and comfortable. Only comment I would make is lack of sponge/scourer (very petty I know) but don't see the point of using a dishwasher when there is only two of you. Usually bring that sort of thing myself but forgot this time.

With a beautiful view the Lodge was an excellent place for relaxing.

Unfortunately, we were plagued with flies, which appeared resistant to the Fly spray!!!

However, after purchasing a fly squatter we became adept at reducing their number!

really nice lodge, spacious, after the first 10mins of arriving i walked in to the lodge and opened up the doors to look at the lake, the fell down the stairs, after close inspection the top step it protrudes to far and makes you first step down short,<try it>which is why i fell,
i haven't got any other problems other wise a great weekend

Date of stay: 14th April 2017
The lodge was immaculate and easy to keep that way. The setting was lovely. The sun comes in the bedroom in the morning and sets over the pond at night. The ducks wander up and down the verandah. I did not use any equipment much except the toaster, hair dryer, kettle and fridge as I was there for some silence so can't comment further on TVs etc except that there was one in the bedroom and the lounge which looked a cut above the average. There was a helpful member of staff there who I really appreciated who was assigned to look after the lodges. Very happy with the lodge in particular.

Very nice lodge well fitted (no shampoo or shower gel was the only thing missing). The hot tub was very enjoyable but it was quite difficult to remove and replace the cover if you lacked strength.

Date of stay: 28th March 2016
What a lovely suprise! We stayed in Robin lodge which really was like a home from home.
We had our 83 year old father with us and would certainly recommend these lodges for elderly or disabled people due to the large bright rooms and accesible facilities.
It was lovely to sit and watch the activity on the lake, either fishermen or the very friendly ducks!
Everything was spotless and the heating is brilliant, particularly on what proved to be a cold, windy and very wet weekend.
We find High Lodge to be great value for money due to the quality of the accomodation and outside facilities on offer. Certainly one to be recommended.

Beautiful lodge with picturesque surroundings and ducks outside the patio doors every morning.
The whole place was very clean and had everything you need.
It was our first family getaway and is one we will never forget.
Staff were really helpful and made us feel very welcome and made a fuss of our 7 month old little girl which was really nice.
Breakfast in the cafe was brilliant too, fresh and extremely tasty.
The only little thing Is the 2 sofas were quite small, so getting comfy on an evening wasn't easy.

Date of stay: 10th April 2015
The lodge was beautiful and plenty big enough for the 5 of us. If I was being really picky, the valances on the beds needed pressing, it spoilt the overall effect of the bedrooms. There was plenty of storage, but the bathrooms lacked it, with nowhere to put your bathroom bits! The hot tub was the winner of the week, it lost it's heat quite quickly, but was fab to relax and enjoy the stars after lots of busy days.
Kirsty, Hertfordshire
Date of stay: 6th April 2015
We loved the lodge, we found the whole holiday very relaxing we stayed over the Easter weekend with our 3 children, even though its not aimed at children we found no problems and the kids loved the lodge and the outside space, they enjoyed feeding the ducks and even the fish would come up to the surface. theres nothing but country side from every view which was lovely, we all enjoyed the hot tub that made it perfect, the kids were in and out day and night, when we did leave to visit nearby Southwolds the roads pass pig farms and fields full of baby lambs and cattle lovely for families with young children. the Southwolds was beautiful and unspoilt, it has two small supermarkets so you can pick up some supplies to take back for dinner, it has some resturants, a fish and chips and cafes, all you need, we will returning!
Hugh, Leek

This is our 2nd trip to High Lodge and we absolutely love it. Date of stay: 14th March 2015
There are a few things I would improve upon for my own circumstances but nothing that spoilt the holiday. I would love to have had a gate on the terrace so we could have spent more time outside with my 2 year old without worrying about him running off, and it would have been handy to have a fixing to hold the shower head in the bathroom for the shower above the bath as we used this bathroom and my in laws used the en-suite. The lodge itself was comfortable, clean and everything was provided that you might need - bedding, towels, pots pans etc, even a cheese grater! The lodge was very spacious and was like a home from home.

Lodges are great with everything you need and spotlessly clean. Just rather expensive
Trudy, London
Date of stay: 9th August 2014
A lovely clean lodge but I have stayed in many lodges and this one seemed expensive for what you got. There was no washing machine, no line to hang out swimming costumes, the minimum amount of cutlery and crockery, no shelves in the main bedroom and a whole host more small things. A really lovely place that just needs a little more thought to make it perfect.

More geared up for adults than children who you would need to occupy to save annoying other guests to maintain the tranquility of the park.

I would love to live here. The lodge itself is perfect. It was perfectly laid out in such a peaceful location (except from the shooting range noise) and we didn't want for anything. Everything we needed was supplied. There was however one issue: we couldn't extend our stay!

We were in Nightingale (Waters Edge 2), with a hot tub right on the edge of the small lake. The accommodation was spotless, the interior decoration was lovely and the additional features like 2 sinks, double shower and bath made the lodge feel luxurious and very spacious.
Maureen, Colchester
Date of stay: 27th December 2013
Lovely lodge. Lovely surroundings.
Very peaceful and relaxing
Lodge was very pleasant and spacious. Excellent view onto fishing lake. Some noise from the clay pigeon shooting but otherwise quite peaceful. Excellent centre for cycling to Dunwich, Walberswick etc by quiet country lanes and bridleways.
A really lovely site with excellent lodges.
Amazing location for total relaxation and chill time. The lakeside setting and abundance of birds and wildlife make this place an escape from city life. The lodges are very good quality with all usual mod cons. The hot tub is heated to a perfect 38 all the time and was fresh and clean to use. On site there is activities including fishing, foot golf, golf and clay pigeon shooting. Great fun. Also good for seeing the coastal town southwold
Lovely relaxing break enjoyed the lake view and ducks also seeing hares and grouse and pheasants. The lodge was very warm and comfortable. We enjoyed
Really lovely settings, very quiet and easy to get to popular places will definitely go back
A really enjoyable holiday, lodge and fishing first class, would recommend the Sunday lunch great value for money, lots to see and do, a great place for a holiday, hope to return later this year.
The lodge/hot tub was lovely and peaceful, unfortunately due to the weather the golf course was waterlogged but we fished instead. location is very much out the way this time in the year when the club house shuts so early so if you want a nice evening meal out it's a little drive away.
Great break, helpful staff, great lodge only down side is you can only use one rod per lodge which was disappointing as the standard is two but overall 9/10
Just brilliant, could not fault it apart from leaving a day early due to the 'Beast from the East'. Everything provided, even down to dishwasher tablets, amazed. Lovely place, most helpful staff and geographically nicely situated for visiting Suffolk and Norfolk. Certainly would revisit in better weather. Shooting, fishing, golf, it's all there for the enthusiast. Meals most reasonable as well. Nice wedding venue also, which started our seven night visit. In a nutshell could not fault it. Weather was out of their hands!
First class holiday great accommodation beautiful surroundings loads of activities on site will definitely be back.

Africa Alive is one of Suffolk's largest attractions and one of the most popular in the whole of the UK.  The Africa themed park is very unique and gives visitors the chance to see some amazing creatures in a habitat which is as close to nature as possible. The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.

This amazing owl sanctuary located in the Stowmarket area of Suffolk should be high on your list of places to visit in the area.  The attraction is also a registered charity and carries out important work in the care & rehabilitation of owls from the region.  The sanctuary also raises awareness of owl conservation throughout the UK.  Between April and the end of September there are two superb flying displays each day so you should try and make your visit coincide with one of these displays if you can.

Bewilderwood is a fun day out for the whole family located in the Wroxham area of Norfolk.  This imaginative adventure park has won awards and we think kids especially will love the characters and the magical tree houses. You can even book your ticket online and beat the queues by visiting their website where you can also view video clips of the park. This place is also the setting for the book 'A Boggle at BeWILDerwood', by local children's author Tom Blofeld.  Parents are not left out either as you're encouraged to take part and play alongside your children.

We love this attraction in Scoulton, Norfolk with a great collection of animals.  Children and adults alike have the chance to get hands on with the animals in the special handling areas.  On rainy days there is always the indoor play area for the little ones and when it's time for a bite to eat the cafe on the farm is open all day selling drinks and snacks.  Hot food is available over lunch times.

This fun family day out has been well planned and we think is certainly worth a visit.  New for 2010 is the PrimEvil at Dinosaur Adventure.  Other fun activities include the Dinosaur Trail, Arachnophobia, the Raptor Races and the adventure play area.  The secret animal garden is also popular.  You can play a role in wildlife conservation and sponsor an animal if you wish.  At the moment if you sign up for their newsletter there is a chance to win a family ticket.
