Ennerdale was a lovely lodge and was very clean on arrival. The hot tub was a lovely addition and was very quiet

My first time staying at Wastwater lodge. Although it was in a Beautiful location. I was a little disappointed with the accommodation. The rules that they take £150 deposit for damages, I understand...but, if they are gonna do this, then they should make sure the property is 100% spotlessly clean. Sadly, it had dirty fingerprints on the oven front, dirty crockery, glassware , front door mat falling to bits and stains on all the sofas. Under furniture wasn't cleaned, with other occupants items still left there. It is a shame, as the lodge is set in a quiet, beautiful location. My advice get new cleaners.

Positives and negatives to the stay but overall would not stay again.Positives The surroundings and location were amazing The view onto the sheep fields from the back of the lodge were a lovely surpise. The lodge itself looked nice, stylish and modern. The decor looked like it had been thought about.NegativesOutside on the decking could have done with a clean, there were cobwebs everywhere. The velux windows were nice to let light in but need blinds as the room wasn't very dark at night. The large shower head was unusable as it wasn't even attached to the shower unit. Bath tap leaked over the floor when it was put on. WiFi was also down for almsot 2 days, this in itself wasn't so bad as these things happen but the customer service I received in trying to get this rectified was non-existant. I text both numbers provided, 1 eventually got back to me several hours later with where the router was and how to reset it, told us to let them know if it didn't work after that, which it didn't. Text them back to let them know, no response received, also contacted them the following day and again no response whatsoever. This was a frustrating experience. Also, outside the lodge smelt of drains, I assume due to the hot weather prior to it raining, again I could have dealt with this however the shower in the lodge absolutely stunk for a day and rendered it unusable. I would not return which is disappointing as we absolutely loved the location and the park itself is very peaceful.

The accommodation was very clean and comfortable and nicely positioned with views to side of Skiddaw and straight ahead you could just see Bassenthwaite lake through the trees if it was a bright day. The hot tub and large decking area were lovely too.

A lovely comfortable lodge. Nice large bed, a few too many cushions I found. It was nice to have a choice of shower or bath with lovely large towels.

The lodge its self was stunning however not clean. There were cobwebs all over the ceiling and the hot tap in the water wouldnt run overly hot. The shower also wasnt connected properly and you could only use the shower head

We had a fantastic weekend stay and really enjoyed our time here. The place was just what we needed and were already planning to return. Our dogs had a blast with the underfloor heating and the garden - Luna even wagged her tail so much she strained it! Definitely a win for both pups and humans alike. Can't wait to come back!

We stayed at Goddard's Mead and honestly, Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel so welcome. The buildings been beautifully converted, preserving its historic charm but still feeling cosy and modern inside. The locations perfect for exploring Essex, especially Thaxted and the surrounding villages - so worth wandering around! Its a peaceful spot, great for relaxing and we really appreciated the warm greeting. Definitely recommend for a laid-back getaway!

We stayed at a lovely, well-equipped house that was super cosy, especially on that rainy December day! The bath was fantastic and the shower was big enough for a proper rinse. The place is right under a flight path, but honestly, it didnt bother us at all. Perfect for dogs scared of fireworks since it's in the middle of nowhere. Really beautiful conversion, thanks a lot!

We had a really lovely week at Hawkshead Lodge, especially enjoying the hot tub after a day out. The lodge itself was spotless and had everything we needed - its clear they put effort into making it comfortable. Wed definitely come back out of season, no question. One thing to note is that the lodge isnt quite as private as the website makes out; more lodges have popped up around, so the secluded vibe is a bit less than expected. Still, the view of Scaffell was absolutely breathtaking, with those changing colours always a treat to watch. A small thing that would help is better signage for the reception, which is tucked inside Herdwicks Bistro - we had a bit of a struggle finding it at first. Also, itd be great if there was a folder or some info on local walks and hikes, as the chat at the bar wasnt particularly helpful, despite him living locally for years. Overall, a lovely last-minute getaway in a very comfy lodge!

We had a lovely escape with our partner and there's plenty of space for the kids if we decide to bring them next time. Definitely a versatile spot for everyone!

Lovely weeks stay in Hawkshead Lodge with hot tub. Lodge was spotlessly clean and well equipped to meet our needs and we would definatly return out of season again.Hoseasons website advertise this lodge as having a private corner position, this however is not the case. There appears to have been additional lodges added to the area therefore not as private as advertised This did not impact upon the stunning view of Scaffel with its ever-changing colours which was stunning. Also, it would be beneficial for the site to have signage of reception area ( l8cated in Herdwick *****'s Bistro) . I would also suggest for the site to have a folder / information of walking / hiking routes of the local area, when we enquired in the bistro the individual in the bar area was not helpful at all despite informing us he had lived there for a few years . Overall a lovely last minute week away in a very comfortable lodge.

When we first arrived at the lodge, it looked alright, but sadly, the cleanliness was disappointing. The sofas were heavily stained and in need of a proper clean and the carpets looked like they hadnt been cleaned in ages with multiple spillage marks. The oven was filthy, clearly needing a deep scrub and the fridge had this strange smell that was pretty off-putting. WiFi was a bit hit-and-miss, so we couldnt always stream Netflix, which was a shame. The hot tub was another let-down; it kept losing heat and there was no way to adjust the temperature, so we didnt get to enjoy it for long. On Saturday, we had a boiler problem, but getting hold of someone was a nightmare - phone calls kept going to answerphone until 10:20am when I finally spoke to someone at the bar. The location was nice, not overlooked, but overall, we wont be coming back.

When we entered the lodge everything seemed okay, but sadly the cleanliness let the lodge down alot. The sofas were very stained and need a good clean, the carpets were full of spillage stains. The oven was very dirty and also needed a deep clean, the fridge had a funny smell. The WiFi was not always working, so we couldn't use our Netflix. The hot tub doesn't stay hot and there was no way to control the temperature, so we couldn't stay in it for long. We had a problem with the boiler on the Saturday, so we tried to call the warden at 8am and the phone kept going to answer phone. I finally got through to someone at the bar at 10:20am. The location is good and your not overlooked. But sadly we won't be returning.

We had a lovely stay! The lodge was spotless and had a really cosy feel inside. The beds in both rooms were super comfy, which made a big difference. We stayed in the Loweswater and loved how private it was, especially with the hot tub, which was always clean and checked daily. The views are stunning, facing south and perfect for relaxing after walks. There are so many great trails nearby, were definitely coming back!

Lodge was spotlessly clean amd really nice comfy decor inside. Comfy large beds in both rooms. We stayed in the loweswater which was lovely amd private, hottub was clean and chexked daily and emptied when leaving which i think is important, it was hot and in a private garden area at the side with stunning south facing views. Will be returning as lots of great walks from the lodge. The area is beautiful.

We had such a lovely stay! The owners are genuinely warm and thoughtful, making everything feel so welcoming. The cottage itself is adorable, with its charming timber framing and a really good shower thats perfect after a day out. The bed was super comfy and the cosy kitchen/living area was perfect for relaxing. Parking right next to the cottage was a real bonus and the place was spotless and well-heated. Lovely walks nearby, especially towards Thaxted with its beautiful half-timbered houses and windmill. Wed definitely come back!

Date of stay: 12th February 2025
We stayed in a big, comfy lodge with a private hot tub, which was lovely. But honestly, some small things could be improved - cobwebs on the light fixtures and the large shower head wasnt even connected! The free-standing bath had pretty poor hot water, often needing a kettle and the gas cooker wasnt great either. No microwave, which was a bit of a pain since the Bistro was closed most of our stay.
