We had a lovely stay at this cosy cottage, tucked away on a working farm but still feeling quite private. Robert and Sharon are such warm hosts, making us feel really welcome. The place itself is surprisingly spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen and a comfy bed-definitely a plus after a day of exploring. The garden is perfect for dogs, totally secluded and furnished nicely. There are plenty of walks nearby and Thaxteds restaurants, especially The Star and The Maypole, are worth a visit. Wed happily recommend it!

We had an amazing stay at Kingfisher Lodge! From the moment we arrived, it was clear how much effort has gone into making everything perfect - the welcome basket and pre-made fire were such thoughtful touches. The view of the river is stunning and super peaceful. The hot tub felt private enough to really unwind. Beds were cosy, lodge was spotless. Definitely coming back and recommending to friends!

We had a fantastic family getaway! The grounds are absolutely stunning and the lodges with log fires made it really cosy. The welcome basket was a lovely touch and the kitchen was well-stocked with bread, butter and eggs-so handy with little ones. A big thanks to Ian for being so friendly and welcoming. Were already planning to come back in the summer, cant wait! Such a lovely place.

We had a really lovely stay at this cosy spot tucked away in such a peaceful, private setting. The owners are genuinely warm and approachable, always ready to help without intruding. The hot tub was a real treat after cycling around all day, honestly! A slight thing to note is that the cottage is directly under the flight path, so you do get quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didnt bother us much once we got used to it, but if youre sensitive to noise, its something to keep in mind. Overall, a great place to unwind!

We booked a week at the Apple Lodge over Christmas and honestly, theres quite a bit to love about the place, but a few things did mar the experience a bit. First off, the lodge itself is really charming. Its cosy, immaculately clean and has a lovely design that makes you feel right at home the moment you step in. The Christmas welcome hamper was a lovely surprise - with Prosecco, Quality Street and Mince Pies, it really set the festive tone. Plus, the lodge was decorated with a Christmas tree, which was a nice touch. They also left a general welcome hamper with tea, coffee, bread, butter, biscuits and milk in the fridge, so we didnt have to rush out first thing. The outside wood storage was well-stocked with kindling, which was perfect for keeping the log burner going, creating that warm, cosy atmosphere we love. The bed was super comfy and the blackout blinds in the bedroom meant we slept in late without any hassle. We also appreciated the helpful welcome pack explaining local bits and bobs - good communication overall. Now, onto some of the downsides. The Wi-Fi was pretty much unusable most of the time, which was a real pain. We had to leave early on one day because we couldnt get any work done remotely. We did mention this to Karen, who came by to check it out. Her solution was showing us she could stream iPlayer on her phone and she mentioned no other guests had issues. But the next day, we spoke to a guest in the cabin next door who said the same thing - the internet is just rubbish. So, clearly, its not just us. Most days, unless we sat right by the front door, we couldnt connect or check emails. On Christmas Day, we managed a flaky FaceTime call by sitting outside near the front door, but even that wasnt reliable. Its a shame because in this day and age, decent internet is pretty much a must-have.Another thing that felt a bit lacking was the hot tub situation. No dressing gowns were provided for it, which might seem trivial, but for the price we paid, wed expect some. The hot tub itself is exposed and overlooks the car park, Gadgirth office and next doors cabin and their hot tub. Privacy would have been appreciated here, especially when youre trying to relax, not feeling like youre on display the whole time. Also, there was no toilet brush, which is a bit gross - its such a small thing but makes a difference. We also found there were no hooks for coats or towels, which was annoying. The wardrobe only had four hangers for two of us for a whole week - definitely not enough. The fridge had some missing or broken shelving, which made storing our food tricky after a few days. Parking was another minor gripe; while theres space for about 8 cars, its not well marked and people tend to park far apart, making it a bit of a nightmare to get a space. Some painted lines or designated spots would help a lot.In terms of the lodges interior, it was pretty well stocked, but a few more hooks, a toilet brush and extra hangers would have made our stay even better. The overall vibe was lovely, but these small things add up. We stayed in the Apple Lodge with another couple and for the most part, we had a relaxing time. The lodges cosy design, the Christmas touches and the welcoming hampers really made it feel special. However, the internet issue was a biggie for us, especially since we were working remotely for part of the stay. We get that its a rural location and the welcome pack does mention that Wi-Fi and signals might not be great, encouraging a bit of a tech detox. But honestly, thats not what we signed up for during Christmas, when we wanted to stay connected with family and friends. It was frustrating and we think they should be more upfront about the Wi-Fi limitations before booking. To be fair, once we spent New Year in the Arctic Circle (where the Wi-Fi was perfect, by the way), it was clear that rural location isnt a good enough excuse anymore. If the internet had been better, this stay would have been nearly perfect. Still, despite the hiccups, the positives outweigh the negatives and wed maybe consider returning if they improved the connectivity. All in all, its a lovely spot with a cosy feel, just a few practical things could be sorted to make it even better!

We had a fantastic stay! The house was super well equipped and kept us really warm, which was just what we needed on a rainy December day. The bath was perfect and the shower was big and powerful. Being near a flight path didnt bother us at all and its a dream if youve got dogs that dislike fireworks - so peaceful out here. Beautifully converted property, really. Thanks a lot!

Overall, the place was pretty clean, though the kitchen couldve done with a wipe or two - the worktops had crumbs and food smudges. Nothing major, but worth a quick check next time. We also ran out of bin bags quickly, accidentally using the ones for the bedding and the recycling bin was full, so we had to leave our recycling on the floor beside it. Still, not too bad!

We recently spent a week at Herons Rest Lodge for our honeymoon and honestly, it was fantastic. The lodge itself was just what we needed-cosy and peaceful, perfect for unwinding. Yes, it could use a bit of TLC here and there, but honestly, it didnt spoil anything for us. Mornings waking up with the view and evenings unwinding in the hot tub were pure bliss. Everything we needed was there, from towels to a welcome hamper with milk and bread, plus a well-equipped kitchen. Were already planning to come back someday!

We had such a lovely stay at this cosy cottage! Honestly, we didnt need to bring anything because everything was provided - we even overloaded the car just to get all our stuff in. The welcome pack was a nice touch, with clear info about the place and local menus. The little extras for our dogs and us made it feel extra special. Sharon and Rob were quick to respond if we had questions, which was great. The enclosed garden was perfect for the dogs and the hot tub was just what we needed for a relaxing break. Definitely recommend!
