Situated close to a Blue Flag Beach, those who enjoy the seaside should pack their bucket and spade.

Beautiful rolling surf and gorgeous Essex sunshine are the norm so be sure to apply the sun cream in advance.

There’s plenty to keep families and couples content on the park with a fantastic brand new indoor heated swimming pool, adventure golf and an adventure playground to keep the kids busy, an all-weather sports court, and a small shop for those extra supplies.

On top of these fantastic facilities, there is an indoor soft play area and our newly refurbished clubhouse, featuring a stunning entertainment venue and restaurant, plus an outdoor terraced area out with the latest showbiz technology, and a high-tech lighting and sound system, the clubhouse stages amazing live shows through the holiday season.

Along with a new arcade, there’s also a funky bar with super-size TV screens, a restaurant, a mini-supermarket, and more.

There will be plenty of reasons to get out and explore the county too.

Take a stroll around the nearby town of Harwich; as well as featuring one of the country’s oldest cinemas - The Electric Palace, it’s also the location of the Redoubt Fortress, which offers glorious panoramic views of the entire area.

Sightseers can also visit the Lifeboat Museum, the Halfpenny Pier, The Radio Museum, Angel Gate and the Old Treadmill Crane.

The area of Dovercourt is renowned for its civil war history, but you don’t have to be a historical boffin to enjoy a fantastic holiday break at this Essex park.

Slightly further afield we have Walton-on-the-Naze, Clacton-On-Sea, Colchester, and bustling Ipswich, all waiting to be discovered by you and your family.

Plus we’re not too far from Constable County - the scenic home of John Constable and the inspiration for his many stunning paintings.

Dovercourt Holiday Park has so much to offer – so make the Essex Sunshine Coast your destination for an amazing holiday this year!.

Visitor Reviews of Dovercourt Holiday Park

Date of stay: 14th April 2024
We stayed at the park recently and honestly, it was a bit of a mixed bag. The caravan wasnt quite up to our usual standards, mainly because weve got a dog now and tend to prefer more space. Still, it was decent enough - plenty of room, with 3 bedrooms and 2 toilets, which was handy. Heating and a Freeview TV came as standard, so no complaints there. The park itself is massive, with direct access to the beach, which was lovely, even if the weather wasnt perfect at first. We arrived around 3:30 pm and found our caravan wasnt ready yet. We were asked to come back at 4, which was fine, but then the queue was quite long, as expected on arrival day. Honestly, after lots of stays at different parks and especially post-Covid, Ive never seen anything quite like that. It felt a bit outdated, but at least our caravan was ready, unlike some others who had to wait outside. Inside, we noticed the toilet seat wasnt attached, so I messaged customer service. They added it to a WhatsApp group and an engineer arrived within an hour to fix it. Really good service there. The kids were pretty bummed that Pop wasnt on the Freeview guide and no matter how much we retuned the TV, it just wouldnt pick it up. We managed to buy Wi-Fi for four devices, which worked okay, so they could still message and play games on their phones. The indoor pool was a real highlight - well managed, with a fantastic slide and the water temperature was perfect. Booking a slot was a bit different; you had to call or pop into reception, but it all ran smoothly and the pool was never overcrowded, which was nice. Gotta say, Covid probably helped keep it more controlled. Theres also a lively entertainment venue with a bar and live sports, plus an arcade inside. We grabbed a reasonably priced takeaway there too and the food was pretty tasty. The staff member on duty was very professional, especially when dealing with some unruly teenagers inside during our second visit. Overall, we had a good stay and the kids are already talking about returning. Well done to the team!

Overall, our stay was decent, but the toilet issues were a bit frustrating. The staff responded quickly and fixed it, though it didnt hold long. Apart from that, we enjoyed our holiday. Would probably go back, but hope the plumbings sorted next time!

Really enjoyed our stay! The place is generally fantastic, though its a bit less spotless because its pet-friendly. The cleaning team do a brilliant job, so no complaints there at all.

We found this holiday park quite decent for what it costs. Its pretty basic, with only a few facilities, so dont expect to spend all day chilling onsite. The location is great for coastal walks, which we really enjoyed. Our caravan was modern, roomy and had everything we needed, though we did notice some of the other caravans looked a bit worn and grubby - probably the owners ones. Honestly, its perfect if youre after a short break or a base to explore the area. Its what it is and thats fine by us!

We had a really lovely stay at the caravan site. The accommodation was way better than we thought, especially with our pet in tow - so much space and a super comfy bed. The site itself was great and the staff were really friendly. The arcade guy was a star, the kids adored him! Only thing was, some of the other children were a bit aggressive, which spoiled things a little and upset our son. Maybe parents should keep a closer eye on their kids. Still, overall, a fantastic break for us.

We really enjoyed our stay! The caravan was spotless and comfy, which made it feel like a home away from home. We loved exploring new spots nearby - the park was a perfect starting point for our adventures. Definitely recommend for a relaxing break.

The caravan was really lovely and the WiFi worked perfectly, which was a bonus. The only tiny issue was it sometimes felt a bit too warm in the bathroom. Overall, we enjoyed it!

We just had a lovely long weekend here and honestly, the staff at Dovercourt were fantastic - so friendly and welcoming, nothing was ever too much trouble. The site really caters well for families, especially those with little ones and the team are great with kids too. The local area isnt exactly picturesque, being a bit industrial, but if youre up for a short drive, theres plenty to do nearby. Were definitely planning to bring the grandchildren next time - we think theyd love it! Definitely recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay! The park was spotless and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The on-site shop was a bit disappointing, but the nearby supermarket made up for it easily. Great week overall!

We got upgraded to silver and honestly, the scoring matches the silver level pretty well.

We had a decent stay overall. The caravan was spotless, well looked after and came with useful extras like gas heating, which was handy. The sites still in the middle of some upgrades, so there was some noise and traffic from the work-mainly road tarmac being laid-so it wasnt completely peaceful. The main disappointment was the beach access being closed off; we thought that would be a highlight, but unfortunately, it was barriered. The club was fine, nothing special but adequate and there seemed to be plenty for kids to do, which was good. The chip shop is still being set up, so its not quite there yet, but it looks promising. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional, which we appreciated. If the beach access and ongoing work had been sorted, it wouldve been a perfect 10 out of 10!
Oliver, Welling, Kent
Really enjoyed our stay, the park was lovely and the caravans felt spacious and comfortable too.
Emily Carter, London
We had a fantastic stay in this caravan; it really exceeded our expectations, especially since we brought our dog along. The space was perfect for our family and the bed was incredibly comfy-definitely one of our best holidays ever! The site itself was lovely and the staff were super friendly. The arcade manager was a star, the kids adored him. Only downside was some of the other children were a bit rough, which led to a nasty incident that upset our son. Maybe parents should be more vigilant. Still, overall, a great experience!
Emma, Ashford
Great stay, would recommend
James, Doncaster
Good experience overall
Alex, Aylesbury
We stayed here for a quick getaway and honestly, its a bit of a mixed bag. The park is budget-friendly but still quite cheerful, which was nice. Its pretty basic with just a few facilities, so dont expect to spend all day on-site. The location is great for coastal walks, which we really enjoyed. Our caravan was modern, spacious and had all we needed, though we did notice some older, slightly battered units around - probably owner caravans. Perfect for a short break or as a base to explore the area, its exactly what it says on the tin!
Alex, Sunderland
Really enjoyed the experience overall
Emma, Rugby
Had a few bites, probably from previous guests with pets, but overall, wed come back again.
Sam, Coventry
Really enjoyed the spontaneous getaway, though it felt way too short. Can't wait to come back!
George, Utrecht
Honestly, we probably won't come back to this holiday park. The caravan was lovely, but the toilet got a bit too warm sometimes. WiFi was really good though, so thats a plus!
