Where's Penvale Lakes Lodges?
Oliver Stewart
This was our first holiday to Wales and we enjoyed it very much. The scenery is out of this world. We love outdoor sports and enjoyed cycling and some great walks while we were there. Our lodge was one of the smaller ones on the site but it was lovely and had everything we could need. We will probably opt for one of the lodges with hot tubs next time though.

Wow is all I can say. Stayed for 3 nights 4 adults 4 children. Had such an amazing time. Everything we needed was available in our lodge and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. So clean bed linen smelt gorgeous. Fully equipped kitchen and even a washing machine ironing board hair dryer toaster microwave etc literally everything you need is here. The views are amazing and the town is so beautiful. The surroundings are just beautiful. Indoor pool which the children loved. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to come to Wales and would certainly come again in the near future. Next time we would go for the hot tub too! Thanks again

Date of stay: 27th October 2017
Fabulous Lodge. We were in number 12 which was on one edge of park and felt very private. After 10 years of annual lodge holidays, we all thought this was probably the best lodge we'd stayed in. Loads of space for 4 adults and 2 children. Very comfortable furnishings and of a high standard. Wood burner was an added bonus.

The only thing that could be improved on was more storage in kitchen (1 tiny cupboard for all our food) and grip rail & antislip surface for bath (very difficult for older people or less mobile to get in/out of shower/bath) .
Connie
Date of stay: 27th October 2017
Brilliant holiday and very pleased with the whole experience. I only marked down the comfort and facilities because the electric meter was very loud and interrupted our sleep slightly.
Natasha, Stafford

Date of stay: 20th October 2017
There were 4 of us staying in a lodge at Penvale Lakes (Birches lodge VIP) in October 2017 for a week (Mon-Fri). The lodge was modern and very spacious, and the open plan living/dining/kitchen area made it great for us to all socialize. We loved having the log burner, and the hot tub was amazing (we used it every day).

The site is located in beautiful surroundings and the lodges are situated around a number of small lakes. It was very peaceful and the lodges were spread out enough that it felt very private when in your own accommodation.

The facilities on site included a gym, and an indoor heated pool which was a descent size.
The staff were very friendly and good at recommending activities/places to visit locally.
We would recommend this site to anybody 100%, whether in a small group, or a large family. We will definitely be returning!!
Dionne

Interior of the lodge is high spec with a nice modern equipment, plenty of storage space and a utility room, hot tub is checked daily and management was very pleasent.
The windows make it very light and views are lovely.
Also nice that we could have a grocery delivery to our lodge to.

Date of stay: 20th March 2017
Couldnot fault anything just perfect
Gavin, Skelmersdale
Date of stay: 13th March 2017
Bunk beds could do with the screws tightening but that's being a little picky - the beds where all comfortable and bed lining nice and clean as where the towels.

The suite in the living room not the most comfortable but again being a little picky and maybe a bigger TV for the big living room.

Not enough to deter me from returning though :).
Melanie, Derby
Date of stay: 13th March 2017
Just fantastic
Eileen, Liverpool
Date of stay: 24th February 2017
A lovely lodge. Quite and fully equip.... so much so we didn't leave it for 2 full days. Loved the fact it had 2 fridges and a nice, big freezer.
Keith
Date of stay: 10th February 2017
A wonderful few days were had, the hot tub was brilliant and so was the lodge it's self. A couple of things were that we had a broken sofa, which was a bit of a pain but didn't cause us any issues and I think the cupboard doors where the plates/glasses were kept was broken as well as the doors just wouldn't stay up - which sometimes was dangerous when trying to get something from the top shelf out by yourself.
On the whole a great place to stay and well worth the money. We will be returning. :)
Anna, Wrexham
Date of stay: 30th January 2017
I was surprised that it was refurbished it looked pretty good 2 years ago didn't think it needed it.
Helen
Date of stay: 27th January 2017
No complaints fab
Jan
Date of stay: 23rd January 2017
Lodges themselves are lovely. We had two for our group but would say the comparison of hot tub left one lacking. This was in lodge 3 when compared to the same size lodge was a lot older and a lot smaller than lodge 6. We paid the same for both lodges.
Mandy
Date of stay: 23rd January 2017
Fantastic site and very inviting lodge. Clean and friendly with lots of space. Would definitely stay here again. No complaints at all.

Venessa, Bedford
Date of stay: 23rd December 2016
We had a great time and the surrounding area was beautiful. The only thing that would have made it better would have been the log burner we expected in the property as all the photos we looked at had shown one.
Claire, Beccles
Date of stay: 13th August 2016
Just a few more hooks in bathroom to hang towels and a few more hangers in wardrobe and hook in kitchen for teatowel. Very minor adjustments.
Sally, Cheshire
Date of stay: 11th July 2016
Amazing cottage!! Fully refurbished and upgraded w hot tub that's very private (not overlooked). Change the photos on the website-you're not advertising the new cottage or doing it justice! We would definitely go again and definitely recommend to others.
Jeanette, Newcastle Under Lyme
Date of stay: 23rd May 2016

Date of stay: 9th May 2016
On arrival to the saltspring lodge vip 9, it was spotless and well equipped. The lodge was much bigger than expected. The hot tub was very clean and look near enough brand new, it was big enough for us all to be in at once. The grounds are stunning and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and are already looking for an excuse to return as soon as possible.
Carol, Wigan
Date of stay: 2nd May 2016
Lovely lodge in beautiful surroundings. Made good use of hot tub. Lovely walk into Llangollen, along the canal. Lots to do in town centre.

Date of stay: 16th April 2016
Birches lodge VIP is spacious and comfortable. We stayed with four adults and three children and no one got under anyone's feet! BBQ and hot tub were much used!
Sheron, Scholes/cleckheaton
Date of stay: 8th April 2016
Very spacious and comfortable with every amenity. We stayed with our 2 children and my mum and the lodge catered for all our needs and tastes.
Kitchen is well equipped and the re is a lovely open plan lounge and dinning area. Also a separate washing/drying and airing room.
Marie, Rotherham
Date of stay: 4th December 2015
This lodge is facing the wrong way and does not enjoy the views of the park that the other lodges have. I had expected a log burner as it was described as a 'VIP' lodge, I checked when we got home and noticed the web sites description was much more informative now than when I booked a year ago. There are many comments in the visitors book about loosing the frosted glass on the patio doors to benefit the view and I think the owners should take note. The cabin lacks a little homeliness but it was exceptionally clean and comfortable and everything in good working order.
The hot tub is a little on the small side if 3 couples were staying at this lodge, and in our rainy weather a shelter is always a plus then hot tubs can be enjoyed in any weather.
Location absolutely fabulous Llagollen and surrounding areas a treat.
Lindsay, Stoke On Trent
Date of stay: 20th November 2015

A fabulous lodge - spacious and comfortable. Warm and cosy. Just perfect.
Amanda, Heywood Lancs
Date of stay: 12th October 2015
Lodge was comfortable spacious furniture could do with replacing that's the only thing that let it down
Mel, Chester
Date of stay: 5th October 2015
Lovely lodge and setting! Furniture in living area could do with updating, all worn on arms of settees! Hot tubs in lodges are quite small only seat three/ four yet lodges sleep8! The cottage has a larger hot tub for larger parties, as family stayed in that! Everything else was lovely though .
G
Date of stay: 15th August 2015
If I had any critism it would only be a small one that the quality of the crockery and cutlery supplied and furnishings in the lodge did not match up with the quality of the lodges but that is a very small small fact and did not spoil our holiday at all.
Thanks
Claire, Bexhill
Date of stay: 8th August 2015
Lovely setting, kids loved the swimming pool and play area. Not far from the town, a great base to explore from!
Linda, Fakenham
Date of stay: 1st August 2015
Lovely, well-equipped lodge. Great views and felt very spacious.
Neil, Malvern
Date of stay: 24th July 2015
Beautiful spacious lodge. Note it is 3 doubles and one bunk - we hadn't read it properly and assumed it would be two doubles two twin.

Date of stay: 27th April 2015
A lovely lodge in the ideal spot although some of the furniture and fixtures and fittings are looking a little tired.however this did not detract from an excellent weekend break.
Elizabeth
Date of stay: 17th April 2015
Unfortunately, the settees are slightly worn though comfy, and could do with replacing.

The rest of the lodge is lovely, with everything you need, and a fantastic hot tub.

Fab holiday in a beautiful location. Great for the children to safely play and run around. Lodge was very spacious and had everything you need, could just do with some drawers in the bedrooms and the sofas had seen better days. Reception staff were very helpful.

Lots to do in the surrounding area, we could have easily stayed another week!
Robert, Liverpool
Date of stay: 6th April 2015
Very clean and tidy. Lovely lodge. However, felt it was time for the lounge furniture to be updated.
Sarah, Swansea
Date of stay: 3rd April 2015
The lodge was great, would be chuffed if my house was like this. No real faults, but it would be good if there was wifi, for the children in the evening, but didn't spoil our fun.
Charmaine, Wolverhampton
Date of stay: 30th March 2015
Lovely spacious lodge. Was disappointed we never had a hot tub and the leather sofas were peeling which was a big eyesore for the beauty of the lodge and the price we paid. Other than that it was lovely.
Diane, Chester
Date of stay: 30th March 2015
Beautiful lodge with lots of great facilities for a family.
Helen, Llanelli
Date of stay: 30th March 2015
The lodges are stunning. Very private, spacious and secluded. Lodges really well equipped. A really relaxing break and the hot tubs are a bonus! Would not hesitate to go again, I could live there!!
Celeste, Sandymoor
Date of stay: 9th March 2015
Fantastic lodge, very peaceful surroundings. Good facilities within lodge, Satellite TV, DVD player, enough utensils in the Kitchen for our stay and a dishwasher (saviour).

The only negative is that the Hot Tub is definitely not big enough for a lodge that sleeps 6. It only fits 3-4 adults (small ones) at a time, could do with a bigger tub being put in.
Carol, Birkenhead
Date of stay: 2nd March 2015
Beautiful setting, wonderful lodge. The only thing that let it down was some of the furnishings. Damaged and cheap, this is a great shame as the lodges have the potential to score 10/10
Shirley, Manchester
Date of stay: 23rd February 2015
The accommodation was impressive, clean and well equipped. There were 8 of us (5 adults, and 3 children, 13, 8 and 7 yr old)and 3 dogs. We did not feel cramped the bedrooms were comfortable and the lodge was warm, (February)
Lisa, Manchester
Date of stay: 16th February 2015
Lovely lodge very spacious hot tub great everything you need is there for you the only Critism was the sofas were very worn but we will be definitely returning.
Joanne, Southport
Date of stay: 16th February 2015
We absolutely love the cabin, though the sofas are looking tired and worn, they are comfortable. The beds in the master suites are only standard doubles so a little small. Some of the cooking equipment/oven trays etc are also a little tired and worn. This would not deter me from coming again, as we always feel completely relaxed and at ease here, especially with the hot tub and log burner.
Carol, Stafford
Date of stay: 9th February 2015
More crockery and cooking pots would be beneficial.

Date of stay: 22nd September 2014
Excellent facilities . Lodge well equipped and beds were extremly comfortable
Sw, Stockport
Date of stay: 16th August 2014
Saltspring VIP 9, could do with bamboo screening on the front as it feels like your in a goldfish bowl as everyone can see right into your lodge, you have to close a couple of blinds to get any privacy, also the same would be good between No.8 lodge as no privacy when your in hot tub or sitting out, you look at each other's outdoor area.
Bruce, Birmingham
Date of stay: 16th August 2014
Spacious and well equipped. The hot tub was ideal for relaxation after a day of sightseeing or walking. Only downside is the short steep hill up to the cottage which will benefit from resurfacing.
Tracy, Felixstowe
Date of stay: 2nd August 2014
Great lodge but some furniture & fittings were tired. I also took photos of the swimming pool surround and downstairs bathroom floor as they were both dirty. Also even though hot the surround of the pool was never opened.
Anthony, Newark
Date of stay: 26th July 2014
Comfortable lodge,spacious and clean.
Fiona, Burntisland
Date of stay: 26th July 2014
Very clean, tidy and comfortable lodge. Lots of room for us all and beds were very comfortable. Leather sofas, although comfy, could maybe do with an update as they are a bit worn in places but other than that everything was great and we had a lovely holiday.
Philip, Sheffield
Date of stay: 26th July 2014
Very spacious accommodation, very comfortable beds - we had the best sleep in ages. Very clean and having the BBQ on the decking was great.
Elizabeth, Kilwinning
Date of stay: 18th July 2014
A beautiful well equipped lodge in a picturesque setting
John, Johnstone
Date of stay: 11th July 2014
Lodge 12 was a bit overlooked by the lodge above which was occupied by a group of 6 young men, so a peaceful and relaxing holiday wasn't fully revised.
Lee, Manchester
Date of stay: 6th June 2014
The cabin is amazing and have been a number of times to the same one. There are a few things however which need updating though as certain things are a bit dated. Such as No coffee table or hot tub cover. Rips/tears in sofa, general painting and decorating to keep up with the amazing expectation we have come to know.
K, Lancashire
Date of stay: 26th May 2014
The Lodges here are lovely. Clean and comfortable.
Alex
Date of stay: 2nd May 2014
The lodge was lovely and clean when we arrived but I asked to borrow a Hoover half way through the holiday. Would have been nice if there was a Hoover in the lodge .
Matthew
Date of stay: 2nd May 2014
Beware big none opening windows if hot!
Elizabeth
Date of stay: 18th April 2014
A lovely cottage with everything you need, though the track up to it is very stony and steep..
Jacqueline
Date of stay: 11th April 2014
The lodge is very large and more than accommodated our party. Fixtures and fittings were more than adequate.
John, Sunderland
Date of stay: 4th April 2014
Access to cottage needs improving track could do with Tarmacing very poor and more lights about place for walking around .
Katie, Ashton-under-lyne
Date of stay: 28th March 2014
Feels like a home from home. I'd come here every weekend if I could.
Samantha
Date of stay: 22nd March 2014
Lovely all round. Hot tube lid broken and no step into tub. We are a young family and we're able to lift the lid but others would have struggled.
Steven
Date of stay: 17th February 2014
Excellent and well equipped lodge. Very warm as well
Jennifer, Birmingham
Date of stay: 14th February 2014
Lots of space, very clean. Every bit of kitchen equipment you could ever need is provided!
Mark, Bolton
Date of stay: 3rd February 2014
Near the access road in lodge 9 but not much traffic passes by. Nice hot tub but would be tight squeeze for 6 adults. Simple awning structure over hot tub would be good, we take a gazebo but strong winds don't go together well. Well equipped lodge.
Emma, Hyde/cheshire
Date of stay: 27th January 2014
Fantastic place to stay. Went for a long weekend with the family to celebrate my mums 60th. Great place for all ages. Will definitely be visiting again sometime soon. I would recommend to others I loved it that much.
Kelvin, Chippenham
Date of stay: 4th January 2014
Interesting slope to this cottage but well worth it amazing except for a couple of small leeks in extream poor weather
Kellee
Fabulous spacious lodges. Hot tub brilliant. Beautiful surroundings and the fishing lake a bonus. We had a great weekend with the family. Lots to see and do around Llangollen. We will be back.

Wow what can I say, This is by far the best lodge we have stayed in. We stayed in Saltspring Lodge. We had a fabulous time, loved the wood-burner and hot tub. The staff were amazing. We had a slight issue with the cooker and the manager on site was extremely helpful and went out of his way to get things sorted and make sure our stay was a good one. I can't recommend Graham enough and would give this play more than 10 out of 10 if I could. Best Hoseasons park by far. Can't wait to visit again.
Joanne

Out of all of the Go Ape! courses the one in Cheshire is the most spread out and it takes staff ten minutes to patrol the site on bike - which gives a good indication of the size of this place.  If you're looking for an adventurous and memorable day out then Go Ape is highly recommended.  Trek through the treetops, swing between the trees and enjoy zip wire rides all as part of your experience.  This attraction opens every day from the end of March to end October and is open on weekends in November.  Go Ape Cheshire is closed every Tuesday except school holidays.
