We had a really lovely stay at this good place. The setting is so peaceful and private, perfect for relaxing away from the hustle. The owners were super friendly and always available if we needed anything, but they didnt intrude on the quiet. The hot tub was a real treat after cycling all day! Just a heads up, the cottage is right under Stansteds flight path, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didnt bother us much after a while, but if youre sensitive to noise, its worth knowing. Overall, a great place for a peaceful break!

We stayed in this lovely little place and honestly, its so well kitted out! It was really cosy and warm, which was a lifesaver on that rainy December day. The bath was perfect and the shower was a good size too. The location is great, especially if youve got dogs that dislike fireworks - its totally in the middle of nowhere. No bother about the planes either, didnt hear a thing! Thanks a lot!

We just spent four really nice nights at this cottage and honestly, it was lovely. The owners are super friendly but not overbearing, which we appreciated. The big fenced garden was perfect for our dog to run around freely. The cottage had everything we could possibly need, including a great BBQ for a relaxed evening. And the hot tub? Absolutely brilliant! Were already thinking about coming back and telling our friends about it. Thanks for a great stay!

We spent the weekend at Keld Spring Lodge Retreat booked via hoseasons back in February on a very windy, icy cold evening. The lodge was very cold on arrival (teatime), we turned the heaters on to their maximum but we didn't warm up all night. When locking the door at bedtime we then realised that all the windows, and the main door, had vents at the top that were open, causing draughts through-out. The window in the en-suite was also wide open but we had never thought to check this on a cold February night. I appreciate that this was a very icy cold, windy night but we all spent the night in hoodies and we were thankful that we had taken a couple of blankets from home to warm us up.That evening we got a pan out in order to heat our food up, the pan had a white, frothy/scummy mark around the inner edge where it hadn't been washed thoroughly. We washed it and thought it was a one off.We then went to bed and nearly all the sheets and pillowcases had some kind of stain on, due to this being quite late. We made do with the least stained bedding but it just didn't feel luxurious or clean. We then started to notice other issues such as grubby walls particularly around the light switches, toothpaste splats on the taps/mirror/wall, dust on the bedside drawers and some kind of splat on the wardrobe. The window in the twin room was also stuffed with white tissue. The lamp in the twin room had no plug socket nearby and the wire/plug had just been propped behind the bed head but with no available socket - making the lamp We did raise these issues with the site manager via WhatsApp late on the Friday night and the following morning a lovely, friendly man dropped off some sheets. We didn't end up using these in the end as they were all creased, mis-matched, the wrong sizes and also some stained (e.g. we needed single duvet covers - there werent any so he brought doubles)After the sheets had been dropped off, we got out the frying pan to make breakfast but that was also very dirty with oil/fat/grease, on further inspection the small saucepan also had food stains inside. We also noted that both toilets were dirty around the back of the seats in both bathrooms, and there were hairs in the bed and on the window sills. The cushions on the sofa in the living area had white splats on, not sure what this was. There was a decorative plant in the living room, this had a popped balloon in/on the pot - this had clearly been missed by the cleaner and it just doesn't give a luxury feel, or much confidence in the cleaners.I feel like the lodge was mis-sold as 'luxurious' when it really wasn't. We have visited similar lodges at similar prices and had much better value for money (including enough good quality toilet roll, handwash/cleaning products, hot tubs and towels big enough to cover our bodies after a shower!)I think with some attention to detail, stain-free bedding and thorough cleaning, along with a few little extras, the lodge could very much be improved upon. But instead it was extremely disappointing, we werent looking for issues but they werent at all hard to find!Location was great and it was a short walk to the nearest pub/bus stop, the bus goes go Scarborough via Pickering or to Helmsley. I hope our review and the photos can improve the stay of those booking in the future. We did complain again when we got home but we were told that we should have complained more while we were there, I could have possibly kicked up more of a fuss at the time, but as we only had one more night remaining and as it was a birthday treat for a family member, I felt this would have spoilt the weekend further. Without actually cleaning the whole lodge, or at the very least changing the beds to clean bedding, there was little that could have been done to rectify the issues. We have since been offered 20% off another stay as a resolution, however we would much rather spend elsewhere and find places with higher cleaning standards.i

We had a fantastic stay at this cosy little cottage! Honestly, its so well equipped, we barely needed to bring anything and we ended up overloading the car just because everything was there. The welcome pack was a nice touch, full of useful info and menus, which made settling in so much easier. Our dogs loved the enclosed garden and the hot tub was just the cherry on top. Sharon and RobeRead were quick to reply if we had any questions. Definitely a lovely break - well be back!

We had an amazing stay at this cosy cottage. The place is spotlessly kept and fully equipped - we wanted for nothing. The dog walks right outside the door made it perfect for our furry friends. The host was super friendly and quick to reply, plus meeting the farm animals, especially Penelope the pig, was such a highlight. Well be back for sure. Great value and highly recommend!

We stayed here for a week in July with our two little dachshunds and honestly, it was a lovely experience. The cottage itself is really charming and the hot tub was such a treat - especially during the scorching weather we had, it was cool and super refreshing. The hosts were genuinely friendly and made us feel very welcome. It was nice to see their dogs happily being taken to the fields each day. Being close to Stansted and on the flight path was actually quite fun to watch the planes come in. Wed definitely come back!

We loved staying at this cosy little cottage! Its perfectly tucked away for privacy but still near local shops and cafes. The hot tub was a real treat and the underfloor heating kept us super warm. Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel so welcome. Cant wait to return!

We had a lovely stay at this charming spot tucked away in a peaceful setting. The owners were genuinely friendly and always ready to help if needed, but they respected our privacy completely. The hot tub was a real treat after a long day cycling around the area. The only thing to note is that the cottage is quite close to Stansteds flight path, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didnt bother us much after a while, but if youre sensitive to noise, its worth mentioning. Overall, a great getaway!

We recently stayed at Goddard's Mead and were really impressed. Rob and Sharon put so much effort into preserving the charm of this historic building, which makes it feel special from the moment you arrive. They greeted us warmly, along with Bonnie, which made us feel right at home. The location is fantastic-perfect for exploring Thaxted and surrounding villages. Wed definitely recommend taking the time to wander around, there's so much history to see!
