Visitor Reviews of Rivendale Lodge Retreat

Date of stay: 9th March 2025
Overall, we had a lovely stay at the treehouse. The only downside was the WiFi didn't quite reach the hot tub area, so no music downstairs. The hot tub itself couldve been better; some jets werent working and the handle was broken, which is understandable given how much theyre used. Despite that, wed definitely stay here again - its a cosy spot with a lot of charm!

The treehouse was pretty fantastic really. It felt open and comfy at the same time, which we loved. Everything we needed was there, though we did have a tiny issue with the shower draining slowly. We just managed to get by and the staff said theyd sort it out before the next guest. The hot tub was a real highlight - just needed some fiddling with the jets, but once sorted, it was ace!

We really enjoyed our visit again this year! The staff are always friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome. The meals were spot on-hot, hearty and definitely enough to fill us up. The pies are a real highlight. Well be back for sure! Thanks a lot!

We had a pretty decent stay overall. It's definitely not a luxury escape, but its a step up from your usual caravan trip. The lodge itself looked good and had a lovely hot tub, which was a nice touch. The restaurant was dog-friendly and served decent food, plus the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The location is great for walks, with plenty of scenic spots just a short drive away. We used the dog wash every day - heated water, which was handy! That said, there were a few downsides. The lodge wasnt the highest quality - lots of cheap plastic fittings and some dirt and cobwebs here and there. It couldve been cleaner; we spotted cracks in the walls and dust on top of cupboards. No breakfast or lunch options at the restaurant either. We also had to rent bathrobes for the hot tub and privacy was a bit limited since only one screen was available. Plus, being near the main road meant traffic noise sometimes disturbed our sleep. Still, wed consider going back!

We had a fantastic stay! The lodge was spotless and you could tell the cleaners really do a good job. The beds were super comfy and the kitchen and lounge felt really cosy. Sadly, the weather didnt let us enjoy the deck outside, but thats just bad luck. Still, wed definitely come back!

We had a lovely stay at the lodge! Its really well equipped and comfortable. The only thing we missed was a few softer lamps in the main living space - the bright spotlights made it a bit less cosy. We managed by switching off the overheads near the TV and leaving the kitchen lights on instead. A standing lamp in a corner would be a nice touch, but we understand its a bit tricky with regular guest turnovers. Still, wed definitely return!

We really enjoyed our 4 nights in a premier lodge. The place was spotless and the bed was super comfy. The kitchen had all we needed and the hot tub was a real highlight-even in the rain! Honestly, we couldnt find a fault. Had a fantastic time!

Date of stay: 26th March 2024
We had a lovely stay at the lodge - super clean and the hot tub was a real highlight, cleaned twice daily. Its got a cosy, homely vibe inside which made us feel at ease right away. The amenities like the washing machine, dryer and dishwasher were a big plus. We did find theres not much to do nearby, so perfect for just relaxing and unwinding. Only thing is, itd be great if the hot tub could be used later than 11 pm - maybe until midnight? Also, dont forget to bring your own toilet rolls. Overall, we really enjoyed it!
Rachel
Date of stay: 25th March 2024
Weve visited a few times now and really love the lodge-such a cosy spot. However, the cleanliness wasnt up to scratch; my wife ended up cleaning the kitchen herself. Also, the toilet seat kept falling and the kitchen blind fell on her. Still, a lovely place overall!

We had a great stay at the Dovedale Pet Friendly Lodge. The place was spotless and really welcoming for pets, with a gate at the door to keep our dog safe-such a thoughtful touch. The lodge itself was spacious and the bathroom was a highlight, especially the freestanding bath and walk-in shower. The veranda was perfect for relaxing outside, especially with the little lights at night. Our dog even got a nice new toy and some treats, which was lovely. Well definitely be back!
Emma
Date of stay: 17th March 2024
Overall, we had a decent stay. The kitchen appliances like the fridge, washer and dishwasher were handy, though we had to bring our own supplies to get started. The furniture was nice, but the sofa had a rip in the seat cushion that we couldnt flip over, so we just left it. The bathroom was lovely, both shower and bath and the bed was really comfy. Were planning to come back in April!

We really enjoyed our stay! The lodge was stunning and had everything we needed for cooking, which was handy. The setting is gorgeous, close to charming villages like Bakewell. Perfect for families or friends. Just a heads up-no dishwasher tabs or sponges provided, but theres an Aldi nearby, so no biggie.
Linda
Date of stay: 3rd March 2024
We had such a lovely stay here! The lodge really does tick all the boxes - everything is thoughtfully provided and the appliances are top-notch. It was great being able to control the heating ourselves, especially since it was chilly outside. We spent quite a bit of time in the hot tub, which my husband and I absolutely loved. The staff really go the extra mile; they checked on us daily and responded super quickly when we had a door lock issue - they fixed it within ten minutes of us mentioning it. Were already planning our return. Such a gem amidst stunning scenery and Dawins customer service is spot on!

Date of stay: 13th February 2024
We had such a lovely stay here again! The staff were as friendly and helpful as ever, whether at reception or in the restaurant. The views from the restaurant are truly stunning and the food was delicious. We stayed in a hot tub lodge, which was absolutely gorgeous-especially with the snow falling, it felt so magical. Even with the weather, the team worked really hard to keep everything safe and enjoyable. The lodges are really well-equipped, with modern decor, plenty of storage and all the utensils you could need, making it feel quite luxurious. Weve tried both the Bakewell and Elkstone lodges and while both are lovely, I think I prefer the Elkstones layout. The location is perfect for exploring local walks and nearby towns. Were already planning our next visit-cant wait to come back!
Alex Carter
Date of stay: 9th February 2024
We had a lovely weekend here! The hot tub in the lodge was a real treat and the walks nearby are perfect for a bit of relaxing. The on-site bar and restaurant are great value, too. Easy to get to local towns and attractions, whether by foot or car. Definitely recommend for a chilled escape!

Date of stay: 23rd January 2024
We stayed at Rivendale Lodge Retreat with a bunch of friends for a weekend getaway and honestly, it was pretty fantastic. We booked back in January, so we had something to look forward to after Christmas and it turned out to be a real bargain. The lodge had 4 rooms-2 doubles and 2 twins-for 7 of us and everything was spot on. The way the space was utilised was clever; each part of the lodge felt really well thought out. The cosy living area was perfect for big meals and then curling up on the sofas afterwards. The hot tub was a highlight - it was spotless and a good size, even with quite a few of us in there! We just didnt want to get out, honestly. We hired robes from reception for a fiver plus a deposit, which was handy. Parking was right outside, but just a heads-up, shopping deliveries only go as far as reception, so plan accordingly. One day, we took a walk to Parwich and had an amazing meal at the Sycamore Inn-definitely worth a visit-and then headed to Chatsworth, about 20 minutes away, after checkout. Honestly, we couldve stayed in the lodge all weekend and been happy! Were already talking about making this an annual thing!
