We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge. The setting is stunning and the weather was perfect for relaxing outside. The hot tub was a lovely touch and the place was spotless. Only downside was the mattress - quite uncomfortable, so we might have moved rooms if we stayed longer. Also, those tiny mugs for tea need replacing! Still, definitely worth a visit.

The cottage was just what we needed-super cosy and nicely tucked away, yet close enough to town for convenience. The hot tub was a real treat after long days and the underfloor heating kept everything warm and comfy. Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel really welcome. Cant wait to return!

We stayed at Goddard's Mead and really appreciated how much effort Rob and Sharon put into restoring this historic place. Their warm welcome made us feel right at home, along with adorable Bonnie. The location is perfect for exploring Essex, especially if you enjoy wandering through charming villages like Thaxted with their interesting history and lovely architecture. Its a peaceful spot, ideal for a relaxing break. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting a cosy and scenic getaway!

We stayed at Goddard's Mead recently and honestly, Rob and Sharon made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived, along with Bonnies lovely company. The buildings history is beautifully preserved and you can tell theyve put a lot of care into converting it. Its in a cracking spot in Essex, perfect for wandering around Thaxted and nearby villages-definitely worth exploring their rich history. Would happily recommend it!

This place is charming and perfect for a peaceful getaway. Just a heads up, the planes at night can be a bit noisy, but the hot tub makes up for it!

We had such a lovely stay at this cosy cottage! Honestly, we didn't need to bring anything because its so well equipped - we accidentally overloaded the car! The welcome pack was spot on, full of useful info and menus, which was really handy. The little touches for our dogs and us didnt go unnoticed and the enclosed garden was perfect for the pups. The hot tub was an absolute highlight, so relaxing. Sharon and Rob were quick to reply if we had questions. Would definitely come back!

We had a fantastic stay at this lovely place, nestled in a super private spot. The owners were genuinely friendly and always willing to help if we needed anything, but it still felt really peaceful. The hot tub was a real highlight after a long day of cycling - perfect! One thing to note is that the cottage sits directly under Stansteds flight path, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didnt bother us much after getting used to it, but its worth considering if noise bugs you. Overall, a great find!

We had a lovely stay at this cottage, tucked away on a working farm but still super private. Robert and Sharon are such lovely hosts, making us feel really welcome. The place is huge and well-equipped, especially the kitchen and bathroom, which made everything easy. The bed was super comfy too. The gardens really peaceful, dog-proof and furnished nicely. Plenty of nice walks nearby and we enjoyed dining out at The Star and The Maypole in Thaxted. Definitely recommend it!

We had a lovely stay at the lodge, it was spotless and really modern. Everything was just perfect. The only thing wed suggest is adding steps for easier hot tub access - itd make things even better!

Date of stay: 24th March 2024
We had a lovely stay at the lodge! The decor was really charming and it had everything we needed for a comfortable break. The hot tub was definitely the highlight-absolutely gorgeous! One thing we thought would make it even better is some fairy lights around the hot tub area, just to add a bit of cosy charm. Also, as someone else mentioned, a step up into the tub would be really handy, especially in the evenings when its quite dark outside. We also found that adding a lamp in the main living space would create a more inviting atmosphere at night, but honestly, we just grabbed one from the bedroom to make things cosier. Overall, we couldnt have asked for more, everything was spot on for us!

The cottage is really charming and perfect for a peaceful escape. Just a heads up, theres quite a bit of night-time noise from planes near Stanstead. The hot tubs a real highlight though!
