The room was a tad snug for getting into bed, but maybe I should lose a few pounds myself! Not too bad though.

We just got back from a lovely week at Goddards Mead. The cottage had everything we could possibly need, really well stocked. The hosts were so welcoming and friendly. Even being on a working farm, it felt like a peaceful retreat-absolutely loved it!

From the moment we arrived, Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel so welcome in this beautifully converted historic building. The place is cosy and well-equipped, perfect for a laid-back stay. We loved exploring the lovely surroundings of Essex, especially wandering through Thaxted and nearby villages - so much history and charm around every corner. Honestly, Goddard's Mead is a real gem for anyone wanting a peaceful break. Highly recommend!

We spent a week here in July with our two tiny dachshunds and honestly, they loved every minute. The village of Thaxted is adorable and friendly and the cottage itself is really charming. The hot tub was such a treat, especially during the scorching days when it was cooled for extra refreshment. The hosts were lovely and very welcoming, which made us feel right at home. We also enjoyed watching the planes land since its close to Stansted-added a bit of excitement! Overall, wed definitely recommend it for a relaxing break, dogs included!

We had a lovely stay here. The staff really went out of their way to help us, which we appreciated. The park itself is super peaceful and well looked after-definitely a quiet spot to unwind. The only thing missing was an iron in the caravan, which would've been handy. Its in a pretty area, though a bit close to the main road for some. Theres no on-site bar or restaurant, but a short walk takes you to one with a discount for Loch Awe residents. Also, the shop and petrol station at the entrance are reasonably priced, which was a bonus!

We had such a lovely stay! The owners are genuinely warm and very attentive without being overbearing. The cottage itself is adorable, with its charming half-timbered style and a really solid shower. The cosy kitchen and comfy bed made it feel like a home away from home. Parking right outside was super convenient and the place was spotless. We enjoyed peaceful walks across the fields to Thaxted, which is full of cute half-timbered houses and a windmill. Definitely recommend!

Overall, we had a great stay. The caravan was spotless and really modern, with comfy beds we didnt want to leave. Only downside was the oven, which took ages to cook dinner and the water pressure couldve been better. Still, lovely place!

We really appreciated the upgrade when we arrived - made a great first impression! The lodge felt spacious with two bedrooms, a cosy lounge and a lovely patio overlooking the river. The main bedroom had an ensuite which was handy, especially after muddy walks. Parking right outside was super convenient too. Definitely recommend!

We genuinely enjoyed our stay, though the weather let us down a bit. The park could really use a larger dining space. No major issues, definitely would recommend it to others!

Date of stay: 2nd May 2024
We had a lovely stay at this cosy cottage on a working farm, yet its surprisingly private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are genuinely lovely folks. The place itself is spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen and a comfy bed that made us feel right at home. The gardens perfect for dogs-completely secluded and nicely furnished. There are plenty of walks nearby and Thaxted has some cracking pubs like The Star and The Maypole. Wed definitely recommend it!
