We had a fantastic week here from 15th to 22nd July with our two mini dachshunds, who loved every minute and made lots of friends in Thaxted. The cottage itself is charming - particularly the hot tub, which was a real treat, especially during the scorching weather; the cool water was so refreshing! The hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming, it was nice to see them taking their dogs to the fields every day. Being close to Stansteds flight path was actually quite entertaining-watching the planes land was pretty cool. Wed definitely stay again!

We had such a lovely weekend here! The place was just what we needed and well be returning for sure. Our dogs had a blast, especially with the underfloor heating-Luna couldnt stop wagging her tail! She even strained it, but its all good now. Great spot, super happy pups and us too. Definitely recommend!

The cottage itself is adorable, with its charming timbered exterior and a lovely, powerful shower. The cosy kitchen and comfy bed made it hard to leave. Parking right next to the cottage was a huge bonus. Its well heated, spotless and perfect for exploring the beautiful walks around Thaxted. Definitely a place wed visit again!

We had a lovely stay! The owners were genuinely kind and made us feel really welcome. The cottage itself is charming, with that traditional half-timbered look and a cosy vibe. The shower was powerful and the bed super comfy - we slept so well. Parking right outside was a real bonus. Plus, its spotlessly clean and warm. We enjoyed walking through the fields to Thaxted, which is a beautiful little village with plenty of character. Definitely recommended!

We spent a lovely weekend at this cosy cottage on a working farm and despite its rural setting, it felt surprisingly private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are such friendly folks and made us feel really welcome. The place itself is spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen and a comfy bed that made it hard to get up in the mornings. The garden is perfect for dogs-completely dog-proof and nicely furnished. Plenty of walks nearby and we enjoyed dining out at The Star and The Maypole in Thaxted. All in all, a great escape wed recommend!

We really enjoyed our stay at Goddard's Mead. Rob and Sharon put so much effort into restoring the historic building and it shows. They welcomed us warmly, along with Bonnie, which made us feel right at home. The location is perfect for exploring Essex - definitely take some time to wander around Thaxted and the surrounding villages, there's so much history and lovely architecture to see. Highly recommend for a relaxing getaway!

Overall, we had a pretty nice stay, though there are a few things that could be improved. The door sometimes slammed into the bathroom or walk-in wardrobe, which was a bit annoying. Its a shame theres no mirror in the bedroom, especially since the bathroom's not great for styling hair. The check-in and check-out times are understandable for cleaning, but it does affect the vibe. Also, when neighbours have parties, it gets loud and hard to sleep, but everyone was lovely. Still, wed stay again!

We decided to cook all our own meals here and the kitchen really did not disappoint - its kitted out with everything we needed, including a massive fridge-freezer. Felt just like being at home, with plenty of cookware and Pyrex bowls. The big dining table was perfect for long, relaxed meals while gazing at Loch Lomond. Watching the boats drift by and the view constantly changing was just superb!

We just got back from a four-night stay at this charming cottage and honestly, it was lovely. The owners were really friendly but didnt hover, which was perfect. The big fenced garden was great for our dog to run around freely. The place had everything we needed and the hot tub was a real bonus! We even enjoyed a BBQ one evening. Definitely planning to come back and already told our friends about it. Cheers for a great stay!
