Lodge was fantastic. Home from home, lovely and clean with all mod cons, with a welcoming bottle of wine!..only negative it had a picnic table on decking, a couple of chairs would of been better for us oldies. But would still return.

The lodge was excellent I could have happily moved in permanently. Will who runs the place is really friendly and helpful. You don't even have to cook if you don't want, you can have take away delivered from Withernsea at a cost of approx 2.50 delivery

The lodge felt surprisingly spacious, was very clean and airy. We were impressed that there was good wifi connection, a dishwasher and huge fridge freezer. The bottle of wine, box of Maltesers and bottle of milk were a nice, welcoming touch. Thank you! We had a comfortable, very peaceful and relaxing weekend.
Date of stay: 2nd September 2016
Opened door and went WOW, better equipped than my own home, except no washing machine, but who cares I'm on holiday. Comfortable, clean and decor lovely, only problem was front door, as wouldn't close easily, had to really bang it shut, waiting for repair. First time I could work cooker without instructions. Dishwasher, fridge freezer was great. Loved the curtains, would like to know where they got them.

Holderness Country Park is a small mainly residential, adult only speciality lodge site with its own coarse fishing lake based on the east coast nr Tunstall, and within easy reach of Withernsea and Hull.
We rented the contemporary Larkin Lodge for a 5 day short break with a view of getting some fishing in, having read 9.8 reviews (mostly 10's actually) on a well known lodge rental website, and viewing promising photos of the lodge interior.
And I might say at an incredibly low price compared to many other sites with less "sophisticated" accommodation.
There are a couple of potential negatives that I would get out of the way immediately. Firstly, while the site is called "Country Park", if this conjures up images of trees and an abundance of furry animals to view, then think again - the site is basically a very (very) well maintained site in an open grassed area, surrounded by very flat farmed land, The other slightly potential negative is the course lake, which is "on-site" but a 5-10 min walk across the open fields adjacent to the main site. If you are expecting a beautiful lake side environment, again you will be somewhat disappointed.
And that is it on the negatives. Echoing many other reviews, the lodge is brand new, in excellent condition, better fitted than my own home with every mod-con, and even comes with free internet which is somewhat unusual for most lodges we've been in. Due to its rural location it is a little slow, (1.5MB download was the best I could get) but this is typical for ADSL running a good distance from the exchange, and was quite sufficient for facebook and general browsing etc).
The lodge is set in the middle of a few other quite new lodges, but in the main the residents were not often seen, but when they did appear were very friendly. Good parking and well kept surrounds give the lodge a perfect 10 from me. I would have no hesitation to return.
The site is a little hidden from view, but follow the signs for sand de mere campsite, drive past it on your left and the park is next right. Alternatively, if you manage to follow the directions from Roo, drive on the Withernsea road until you see a windmill farm with a radio mast next to a small white building, and tak an immediate left after the white building and the park entrance is another 50 yds on the left.
The park is approximately 5 mins from withernsea, with a large Tesco and Aldi which is best for shopping, and about 20 mins to Hornsea up the coast, and 25-30 mins back to Hull, with ASDA, Tesco Extra and Morrisons to choose from for grocery shopping. Although a little remote, with most places needing a car to get to, it would be ideal for anyone wishing to explore the many beaches and local landmarks.
Remember we hit miserable weather in October but I guess this would have been a totally different story in Summer and we would have been more inclined to venture out more. Instead we turned up the free central heating (electricity was free to), turned on the log effect fire and read books in the cozy lodge.
The coarse lake is quite small in comparison with some sites, but sufficient, and allegedly well stocked, although I didnt have much luck despite seeing the fish roll and having plenty of bites - partially I think due to the miserable weather and also I'm a hopeless angler. I would like to come back in summer and have another go. The upside was the lake is open to residents only and I was the only person fishing the whole week it seemed, and had the whole lake to myself. Another 10.
The access to the lake could be better, I was unfortunate to arrive the week the field was ploughed over, meaning a longer walk around the field perimeter to get to the lake, But it was a nice walk; I'm just inherently lazy. Maybe next year they might consider leaving a strip in to shorten the route a little.
Finally, we arrived a hour early and we were a bit surprised to find no reception and no-one to ask about our stay - remember we expected a large country park - eventually a resident, who seemed to be aware of our arrival, pointed us to the lodge, where we found our keys, and a bottle of wine and chocolates waiting for us.
We eventually met Will and can confirm previous reports that he is a really nice guy, full of local knowledge and obviously eager to make our stay a pleasant experience. I caught up with him later in the week ploughing the field between me and the lake. Cheers Will, nice to meet you. Another 10.
So, deducting a few micro-points for our early misconceptions, I'm happy to give this site a 9,9, which when rounded up give 5 - excellent.

Lovely lodge, on arrival we were pleased to see all the Lodges were well spaced and in a nice Countryside setting, very quiet and plenty of wildlife. On entering the lodge the first thing we noticed was how nice and clean and well appointed it was. The Lodge was well equipped for all our needs.
We had a nice welcoming surprise in the fridge, good choice of white wine, box of maltesers, and a bottle of milk which we thought was a nice gesture.
Lots of places to explore, Hornsea, York, Scarborough, Bridlington and Spurn Head, all in easy reach of the Lodge.
We spent a lovely 6 day break. Our Hobby is Astronomy and all I can say if you want good skies then this Lodge is for you.
We could certainly recommend this lodge for a get away from it all and touring the local environs. There is no doubt we will return.
would reccomend this lodge to everyone . it was ammaculate inside and out . can not fault anything , we booked as a last minute and had never been in a lodge before .
it hadeverything you would need . bin liners washing up liquid , brush and bowl as well as dishwash tablets all in the cupboard under the sink , in kitchen . Washer , microwave , dishwasher , and tall fridge freezer . 2 Bathrooms one with ashower and was ansuite ,and hairdryer in the draw at side of bed , the other had a bath etc. large walkin wardrobe , to the main bedroom and large sliding door wardrobe in the other bedroom . DVD player along with an asortment of dvds on shelf, and TV in main living room , along with 2 leather sofas and a large dining table with chairs . . The only thing was with so many windows in the living room, it could of done with a few blinds up maybe , as when you opened the curtains everyone could see straight in . But still brilliant , I could of lived in the lodge permantly .
Nothing on site but withernsea only 3 miles away for takeaways and shops .
perfect weekend, lovely place, cabin was very modem and super clean, nothing was a miss, the owner is very warm and welcoming. we will most certainly be returning.
Very enjoyable weekend excellent lodge very clean and modern.Quiet and tranquil surroundings.Excellent pub only few miles away The Nancy and central to other locations i.e Withernsea Hornsea and Bridlington all only under an hours drive away.
Been here many of times love the peace and quiet easy to get about
Lovely park very quiet. Lodge was one of the best we have stayed in, will certainly return. We initially booked mon-fri but enjoyed it so much we extended our stay after speaking to Will who helped us organise that. Nothing was too much trouble for him or the lady who shows you to the lodge, very nice friendly people.
Just one little thing we think you should know is that the outer door has clear glass which makes you feel exposed as it's next to bathroom and bedroom so take dressing gowns.
Absolutely Fabulous Accommodation in a wonderful part of the world.
We thoroughly enjoyed our comfortable stay in this luxurious accommodation.
Nice park no club or anything not even a reception which was a bit strange but a lovely quiet park and
Fabulous quiet surroundins
Acomodation could not be better.
The lodge itself was superb, large and well equipped and nice and modern. The park itself was extremely well maintained and set in very tranquil surroundings. If you want peace and quiet, then this is the place for you. But if you want something a bit more lively then you will not find it in or around this area.
Our 2nd visit, so peaceful and quiet in lovely countryside
If looking for a quiet break away from it all, this does. Lodge was lovely and relaxing with all furnishing clean and well decorated.

Centred around a Tropical House in an amazing jungle like setting this is a really unique attraction that will appeal to families. In the Cleethorpes area of Lincolnshire it's easy to get to and offers a fun yet educational experience. Referred to as the number one attraction in the area highlights include capuchin monkeys, meerkats, ring tailed lemur and for the children African pygmy goats. The tropical house features Red Eared and other Terrapins from North America and goldfish amongst other things. We think The Jungle Zoo represents excellent value for money too. We recommend a whole day to explore this attraction and ensure you get to see all of the animals resident there.

There are many animals to see including ponies and piglets which the little ones love. There are also some amazing birds from hawks and falcons to owls. Most aspects of this attraction are included in the admission cost and as well as wandering around you get to hold and feed the animals too.
