Beautiful large cottage, everything you need for a relaxing break

Definitely worth the money! Highly recommend it to anyone. Overall comfort was good, very spacious, a number of areas to sit and interact with others. The bed was standard, was not the most comfortable to sleep in. Everything was set up ready for when we got there, some areas were a bit dirty, and little spiders all nesting on the ceiling in the bathroom. However, nothing that stood out of the ordinary. We didn't have a WiFi code and tried phoning up but was no answer, luckily had 5g but sometimes didn't get signal.

Lots of flies around and in the property. Would be useful to say that it shares a courtyard with the cow shed as it's not very private, luckily we had family in the cow shed so it was great.

Lovley relaxing few days away, peaceful and quiet. We choose this break due to location and having a hot tub . It didnt disappoint. We had an issue with TV and WiFi this was sorted out promptly . The accommodation was lovely and clean .A couple of minors and possibly silly to some. . I wanted to iron a couple of bits . I did take an iron although one was provided but no ironing board . A cheese grater and tongues in the kitchen would have been helpful . Like I said a couple of minors . Highly recommend

Peaceful and relaxing setting but accommodation disappointing. Could have been cleaner; plastic glassware did not say signature / luxury accommodation; broken garden chair left in the garden from previous guests; overall tired and tatty accommodation.

The lodge was lovely and spacious with open plan and a wrap around decking (we had the hot tub option). There is a massive TV in the living room, with a smaller TV in the double bedroom. The TV is surrounded by shelving, with multi-coloured mood lighting. The kitchen has many utilities, and the lodge has everything you would expect to find at home. The double bed was comfortable enough, and the sofa was really comfortable. However, the bedroom didn't have black out curtains.

We had an absolutely lovely stay! The owners are genuinely warm and helpful, making us feel really welcome. The cottage itself is charming with its traditional half-timbered style and its super cosy inside. The shower is powerful and the bed was so comfy we didnt want to get up. Parking right next to the cottage is a real bonus and the place is spotlessly clean. Perfect base for exploring Thaxted and the surrounding fields-definitely recommend!

We had a lovely stay at this cottage. Perfect for a peaceful escape, though you should be aware of night-time planes from Stanstead nearby. The hot tub was fantastic!

Hesley house is a beautiful place to stay for all the family. It was spotlessly clean and the beds extremely comfortable. It is definitely somewhere we will be staying again in the future.

We stayed in a lovely lodge that was surprisingly spacious and spotless when we arrived, which was great. The place was warm at first, but within a couple of hours, it got pretty chilly - no heating on all evening and the towels on the radiators were still damp the next morning. Theres no clear info about who to call if something goes wrong, apart from out-of-hours security, which isnt ideal. The only instructions we got were for the fire, so we had to ring the number wed been called on before to let them know which lodge we were in. They said someone would come out, but no idea when. Fortunately, we spotted the cleaners in the next lodge and asked them to check the heating; turns out it was set low, so they turned it up and it warmed up nicely. The hot tub was definitely a highlight - very relaxing! There was a bit of confusion about Wi-Fi; it says its included, but then we found a leaflet explaining how to register and pay, which was a bit annoying. The reception closing at 4 pm and not opening again until after our checkout felt a bit restrictive. On the plus side, we loved seeing the alpacas in the field next door - such a lovely touch!

The lodge was tidy, but the beds are quite uncomfortable. Also, theres a real lack of crockery and local info.

Nice place overall, but we did notice cigarette butts left on the patio from before. Otherwise, lovely stay!

Emailed them directly to provide some feedback but received no response or acknowledgement so will post here instead. We stayed in Westfields Cottage which looked great from the photos. Unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations. There is no welcome pack in the lodge, so no local recommendations of things to do, places to eat or information about the site in general. There was no oven glove, no tea towel, no washing up liquid or dishwasher tablets. This is the first place we've ever stayed where these things aren't provided, even one or two dishwasher tablets would've been helpful. Being expected to bring basic items like this isn't good for a short stay. The bathrooms all had an awful stench to them. It did dissipate once we started using the shower/sinks in one of them but stayed in the others. Maintenance seemed lacking. 3 of 4 of the outdoor lights didn't work, I did report this but no one came to fix. Neither of the cooker hood lights worked either. The lighting in the kitchen area by the sink is poor, made worse by the blue lighting under the kitchen worktops which can only be turned on by a switch hidden away in one of the cupboards which most people won't even find. One of the beds in the back bedroom creaked horrendously. Outdoor table had no top to it. Gutters are blocked with grass and causing damp/dirt to the white render. Overall it was let down by lots of small issues and a lack of TLC.

We had a fantastic time here! The place is super well-equipped, making it really comfortable for our stay. Its a short drive to places like Gibraltar Point, Mablethorpe and Anderby Creek, which was perfect for day trips. After a long walk, relaxing in the hot tub was just what we needed. There are a couple of pubs nearby, but youd need to drive or cycle since there's no footpath all the way. We loved it and will be booking again!

The cottage was really lovely and perfect for a peaceful getaway. Just a heads up, there are some night flights from Stanstead, but the hot tub made up for it! Great stay.
