The Bothy is a home away from home, situated in a beautiful setting located close to Brotherswater with stunning views down the valley amongst the hills in the surrounding Lake District. This unique cottage is one of a kind and the only cottage featured on this small lodge site. A converted barn, the Bothy gives that rural feel whilst giving you luxury and warmth with its modern heating, WIFI and cooking facilities. Both bedrooms are spacious and boast their own ensuites. The open plan kitchen and living area make this the perfect layout for a holiday as a couple or with friends. Step outside onto your private patio area with acres of space to enjoy. Please note this accommodation does not have a secure outside area for pets. The access to the Bothy is up a steep path (no vehicular access - parking is below the cottage next to our lodges approx 50ft away).

Wray Castle is a Victorian neo-gothic building on the west shore of Windermere, looked after by the National Trust. The parkland has waymarked trails that start at the front of the castle, and the lakeshore has a shingle beach with easy access to the water.
Tip: You can arrive without a car: the Windermere Lake Cruises Green Cruise calls at Wray jetty from Ambleside, and it is a short walk up to the castle and café.

Lowther Castle is a ruined country house near Penrith, built in the early 19th century and left as a dramatic shell after the roof was removed and the building demolished in the 1950s. You can explore the ruins, then wander the 130 acres of gardens, which include the Parterre, the Garden-in-the-Ruins, the Rose Garden, wildflower meadows and rambling woodland.
Tip: Walk out to the Western Terrace for a spectacular view over the Lowther Valley to the Lake District mountains, and dress for all weathers.

Beatrix Potter's 17th-century farmhouse retreat, kept as she knew it, with a cottage garden and working farm.
Hill Top is the 17th-century Lakeland farmhouse in Near Sawrey that Beatrix Potter bought in 1905 as her artistic retreat, and later left to the National Trust. Inside, it is shown as she would have known it.

A Neolithic stone circle on a hilltop above Keswick, ringed by Lake District fells.
Castlerigg is a Neolithic stone circle on a prominent hill east of Keswick, in the Lake District National Park. English Heritage calls it one of the most atmospheric and dramatically sited of all British stone circles. The stones are glacial boulders of volcanic rock, set in a flattened ring with an unusual rectangle of extra stones inside it.
Tip: Parking at the site is limited. Walking from the centre of Keswick takes about 30 minutes, so consider that or public transport.

A medieval Strickland family home near Kendal with a large limestone rock garden and an estate to explore.
Sizergh is a Grade I listed castle and stately home about 4 miles south of Kendal, in the Lake District National Park. The oldest part is a tower from the fourteenth or fifteenth century. Inside, you'll find oak-panelled rooms, including the Inlaid Chamber, plus Strickland family portraits and paintings linked to the Stuart court in exile.
Tip: Dogs are welcome on the wider estate, but only assistance dogs are allowed in the gardens, so plan your route accordingly.

Brougham Castle is a red-sandstone castle standing near the site of a Roman fort, guarding a river crossing south-east of Penrith. It was founded in the early 13th century by Robert de Vieuxpont, and his great keep still dominates the site. The powerful Clifford family later added more buildings, including an unusual double gatehouse and the Tower of League.
Tip: Head up the spiral stairs to the top of the keep for panoramic views over the Eden Valley.

Really enjoyed our stay, the cottage had everything needed!
We needed a quick dog walking getaway and it was just what we hoped for. Lovely accommodation, plenty of nearby pubs and restaurants and endless fields for off-road adventures. The dog didnt want to leave either!
We had a lovely stay at this charming little spot. The location is really private and peaceful, tucked away from the hustle but close enough if you need anything. The owners were super friendly and made us feel really welcome. After a long day cycling, the hot tub was just what we needed! Only thing to mention is that the cottage is pretty close to Stansteds flight path, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It took us a couple of hours to get used to it, but it didnt ruin our trip at all. Definitely recommend!

We had a fantastic week here from 15 to 22 July with our two mini daschunds, who loved every minute and made friends in the lovely village of Thaxted. The cottage itself is charming and the hot tub was a real highlight, especially on those scorching days when the cooled water made it so refreshing. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, which made us feel right at home. Watching the planes land near Stansted was surprisingly soothing and it was nice to see their dogs being taken out to the fields daily. Wed definitely recommend it!

We had such a lovely escape! The cabin was spot on, with everything we needed - from loo rolls to dishwasher tablets, they really thought of all the little details. The undercover porch with hooks, the drying room and comfy beds made our stay even better. The highlight was definitely relaxing in the hot tub surrounded by mountains - truly stunning. Honestly, we didnt want to leave. Everything was just perfect and well definitely be returning soon!

We just got back from a festive week at Hartsop Fold and honestly, it was fantastic. The views were absolutely stunning, especially with the snow falling on our last day - really magical! Even though the place is pet-friendly, the lodges were surprisingly spotless, which we appreciated. Theyre well kitted out with smart TVs and a speaker, perfect for Christmas movie marathons and tunes. We loved the rechargeable torch/night light - so handy! The free laundry room was a godsend and kept everything tidy. The staff might be a bit rare to spot, but when we did see them, they were super friendly and helpful. The shower had great pressure, beds were cosy and the hot tub was just what we needed after climbing Red Screes. Thanks for a lovely holiday; were definitely coming back!
The lodge was absolutely lovely and the place itself was quite beautiful. Sadly, the laundry room was shut, so I couldnt get fresh towels midweek which was a bit of a pain! Still, overall, we had a great time.

We had a lovely stay at this cosy cottage set on a working farm, but surprisingly private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are absolutely charming - really friendly and welcoming. The place itself is huge, with everything you need in the kitchen and bathroom. The bed was super comfy, which is always a plus. The gardens totally secluded, dog-proof and nicely furnished. There are plenty of walks nearby and Thaxteds restaurants, like The Star and The Maypole, are worth a visit. Wed definitely recommend it!

The bath was fantastic and the shower was spacious - just what we needed. Even though its under a flight path, we hardly noticed any noise. Honestly, we had a really good time staying at this lodge. We were there for a whole week, from Friday to Friday and it definitely felt like a home away from home. The place was super cosy and, crucially, always warm - which was a lifesaver considering the unpredictable weather outside. The heating system was spot on, with an adjustable thermostat, so we never felt too hot or too cold; it was just right every time. We tried to cook proper meals during our stay, mainly to keep up our energy for all the walking we did. The kitchen was pretty well equipped for that, but we did run into a tiny snag - the knives were blunt as anything, making chopping a real pain! Nothing too major, though. We also forgot to grab salt and pepper when we arrived, which was an oversight on our part. Luckily, a quick stroll to reception sorted that out; the caretakers had some stored away. The appliances in the kitchen were excellent - dishwasher, oven, induction hob and a fridge with a small freezer compartment that was just enough for two of us. One of the absolute highlights was definitely the Hot Tub. We used it pretty much every day, sometimes twice - it was that good! Super easy to get in and out of. Just shower before to keep it clean, lift the lid (which was a doddle)and then relax. The hot tub was looked after regularly, with someone checking on it nearly every day, which was reassuring. At night, it was magical; we often enjoyed the starry sky while soaking - honestly, it made all the mountain climbs and long walks in the rain totally worth it. If youre thinking of staying here, definitely opt for a lodge with a hot tub - its a game-changer after a tough day outdoors. The bed was *so* comfy - really soft, maybe a bit too soft for some, but we loved it. The bathroom was well-stocked with a large, modern shower that worked perfectly. Towels were provided - big and small for each of us, plus hand towels. If youre staying longer than a few days, you might want to do laundry; theres a washing and drying machine at reception, which came in handy. The living room was a generous size, with a big 4K TV on the wall. It had Freeview and every streaming app you could think of, so bringing your login details makes binge-watching pretty easy. Just remember to log out before you leave - we noticed some previous guests hadntand their accounts were still active! We brought along a laptop and HDMI cable just in case, but the TV already had an HDMI port, which was a nice surprise. The Bose Bluetooth speaker was a lovely touch too - perfect for relaxing tunes. Sofas werent the most comfy - a bit firm after a long day, but thats a minor quibble. The dining table was great, with cute animal-themed mats and coasters provided, which added a nice touch. Overall, the lodge was well thought out, clean and perfect for a relaxing getaway. Wed definitely come back - especially for that hot tub! It really made our stay special.

The welcome pack was so handy, packed with info and menus, which made settling in easy. Our dogs loved the enclosed garden and the hot tub was a real treat after long days out. We appreciated the little extras for us and the pups. All in all, a really relaxing break - wed definitely return!

A beautiful cabin in a stunning location. Quiet, tranquil evenings spent on the veranda after Venturing out during the day visiting many interesting locations. Being dog friendly, which many locations are not, and at a reasonable price certainly ensures we will vist again.

Back from a 3 night break, stayed in the Keswick Lodge. I am probably one of the fussiest people you could meet, however it was spotless and given that dogs are welcome there was no bad smells. Very comfortable stay with everything you would need. Would definitely return.
