We stayed in Lowther. Really nice cabin with the best view on the site. Located right next to the public footpath heading towards patterdale with a beautiful view overlooking the hills from the balcony where the hot tub is. Ideal location for people with pets. A lovely waterfall 10 mins walk up the lane towards patterdale from the lodge. The cabin has everything you need for self catering. The only recommendations we would make to anybody looking to stay here are that the WiFi is quite poor so we took some dvds and games for night time. And the cupboards could be stocked up with more household essentials such as tin foil and cellophane to wrap up sandwiches or food in the fridge, rather than nipping to the shops. Tea or coffee is provided but better to take your own. All in all a great place to stay for our short break and would definitely go again. The views around this place are amazing!! Highly recommended. Thankyou! :) Adam & Hannah

Loved it so much , have booked to go again. Struggle to find anything bad to say about the lodge... ok the double bed squeaks is the best I can think of! The lodge is well equipped and the porch is a brilliant addition for muddy boots and wet dogs ! The lodge is on a lovely quiet park , with breathtaking views.
Stacey
We stayed for a week over Christmas and I was expecting a rickety old shack but it was lovely! Bit out in the sticks but not a problem if you enjoy walking or have a car. There was some fab little touches in the lodge, such as a bottle of wine and Christmas card on arrival, and it’s equipped with everything you might need! Can’t recommend this place enough!
Michael
Very tranquil area Lodge generally vey clean except sealant in shower was mouldy
Tracey

Fun Days Out near Hartsop Fold

about 2 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
about 4 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.

We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...

Here at the Wildlife Oasis you can really get up close to the animals and experience a mix of exotic wildlife and hand son displays.  See butterflies, birds and even bats flying around.  You don't have to plan your visit according to weather either with the tropical hall and butterfly house undercover.  Sunny days are ideal for some of the inhabitants however with the monkeys and Lemurs loving to sunbathe.  The mission of Lakeland's Wildlife Oasis is to engender and foster an interest and appreciation of the natural world which, in our belief underpins wildlife conservation; and, where possible to contribute and encourage contribution to the conservation of wildlife and wild places.  You know that you are helping with this mission if you choose to visit.

Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.

Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
