Location was fantastic, staff were very friendly and helpful, however when I arrived my caravan (silver value) was dirty. There were bits all over the floor, it had very clearly not been hoovered, and the couch was disgusting, stains and chocolate imbedded in the fabric. I asked at reception if someone could come by and hoover and do what they could about the couch, and can't fault the speed of the staff, they were on it very quickly. The couch could only be cleaned so much, the chocolate was removed but the main stain (please note this couch was dirty all over, years of dark marks) was still there. I didn't feel comfy sitting on it so I placed the spare duvet on the couch for the entire week.Sadly over my week's stay I noticed more and more dirt and marks and questionable smears everywhere in the caravan. I don't think anything had been properly cleaned in a long time; dirty, smeared curtains, something brown smeared on the bathroom window, the bathroom radiator was leaking, and there were dried liquid marks on the doors. Also the shower door was falling apart, the rubber seal came completely off on our last day (it was half hanging off when I arrived).I was very disappointed with the caravan, but the town of Combe Martin was stunning.

We had a really lovely stay! Sharon and Robert made us feel super welcome from the start, which was lovely. The place was spotless, comfy and safe for Archie, which was a big plus. The location was perfect, with loads of nice walks nearby and charming villages like Thaxted to explore. Honestly, we left feeling really refreshed and relaxed - it was just what we needed. Will definitely come back!

We loved this cosy little cottage! Its nicely tucked away, so it feels secluded, but youre still close to shops and local spots. The hot tub and underfloor heating in the bathroom? Absolutely brilliant! Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel so welcome. Cant wait to return soon!

Caravan was better than we expected ( Bronze dog friendly) apart from, had a washing machine we couldn't use as the door catch was broken, carpet had dog hair on, i scuffed up a couple of piles, and two lots of dog poop on the grass outside. All 3 reported to reception, carpet was cleaned. Dog poop still there when we left.Only a small bar restaurant, had a lovely Ham eggs and chips. And the Pizzas looked nice. Not too far to walk into Combe Martin, took the dog onto the beach, then had a cream tea in a cafe, scones were hard for some reason. Lovely walks in the woods behind the caravan and a nice view on sunny days. Ideal base for pottering around North Devon. This is the third stay at a John Fowlers, and this was by far the best yet.

We had a lovely stay at this charming cottage. The owners are genuinely friendly and really go out of their way to help, which made us feel very welcome. The place itself is beautifully maintained - cosy yet practical, with a fantastic shower and a comfy bed. Parking right outside is a real bonus and the house is spotlessly clean. We enjoyed peaceful walks across the fields to Thaxted, which is full of pretty half-timbered houses and a windmill. Definitely recommend!

We had a lovely stay at this cottage, tucked away on a working farm but still very private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are such nice people, making us feel really welcome. The place itself is surprisingly spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen and bathroom. The bed was super comfy after long walks, which are plentiful around the area. The garden is perfect - dog-proof, secluded and with comfy furniture. We enjoyed meals at The Star and The Maypole in Thaxted; both were great. Highly recommend!

We recently stayed at this lovely little spot and honestly, its one of the best dog-friendly places we've found. The caravan was cosy, clean and quite well-kept, although we did have to make our own beds and bring towels - not a major issue but worth noting. The grounds are spotless and maintained beautifully. Our dog loved the nearby walks, which stretch for miles through stunning scenery. The staff were super friendly and helpful - we really wished we could have stayed longer!

One of the best dog friendly places weve had the pleasure to stay.Small but cozy caravan clean and tidy , had to make our own beds up and no towels slightly disappointed but not a big problem ,just enough room for the two of us plus our dog, well maintained grounds on caravan site clean and well maintained. Dog walks very close by that goes for miles ,so enjoyable and amazing scenery. The staff very helpful and friendly, I wish we stayed longer

From the warm welcome we received from them and Bonnie to the cosy, peaceful atmosphere, it was just what we needed. The spot is perfect for exploring Essex, especially if you enjoy wandering through charming villages like Thaxted with all its rich history. Definitely recommend for a laid-back getaway!
