The holiday site itself was lovely. Lovely views. The pool area was small but not overcrowded and very clean. We visited the club house area twice, the first time was ok. However on our second visit, all the slot machines had been switched off, the pool table was broken and some of the machines in the arcades hadn't been topped up so we couldn't play those either. The staff were nice about all of this but there wasn't much they could do.As for the caravan we were given (a silver model) we were less than impressed. Firstly the cleanliness wasn't great - we had to clean the kitchen worktops ourselves, there was someone's left over razor in the bathroom, a couple of toys left slotted in the sofa etc. There wasn't any numbers on the cooker dials so was hard to know when the gas was on or off and which ring you were lighting. The kettle was filthy inside and unusable. We decided not to make a fuss with these issues but we started to notice more the more we were there. There was no hot water for showers. Windows didn't shut properly as bit were broken off. There wasn't enough cooking equipment. The double bed was the smallest most uncomfortable bed ever. Very cheap mattress. The lock on the caravan door was very hard to lock/unlock. The part of the site we were on was run down and seemed to be where staff accommodation was - they weren't quiet and didn't drive slowly. We left a day early and won't be revisiting. Definitely not what you would expect from a hoseasons accommodation

Stayed for a week in a silver 3 bed caravan. Warm welcome received at check in. The caravan was roomy, but the cleanliness wasnt great especially in the kitchen area. The fridge was tiny (especially for 3 bed) and the oven hob was quite dangerous as all the dials were broken so it was hard to figure out if gas was off (I reported this at check out) so hopefully they have fixed. The pool is nice and clean and can be used free of charge if staying in a caravan. Nice little arcade area and shop. The bar and entertainment area is great. Also has a pool table. Staff were all great, especially Jack! Nice walk or Ubers available into Longridge which has lots of great cafes, bars and restaurants.

We loved staying here! The cottage felt so secluded yet was close enough to town for essentials. The hot tub was fantastic after a day out and the underfloor heating kept us cosy. Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel right at home. Can't wait to return!

We stayed at this lovely cottage recently and honestly, it was a fantastic experience. The owners are genuinely warm and thoughtful, making us feel right at home. The place itself is charming with its traditional half-timbered style and the shower is surprisingly powerful-perfect after a long walk. The cosy kitchen and comfy bed made our stay even better. Plus, parking right next door was a real bonus. Its spotlessly clean, well-heated and perfect for exploring the local village and countryside. Well definitely return!

We had such a lovely stay! The owners are genuinely friendly and really thoughtful, making everything feel special. The cottage itself is adorable, with its charming half-timbered look and a super powerful shower that was much appreciated after long walks. The cosy kitchen and comfy bed made it hard to leave. The lodge was cosy but smart, with all the essentials youd need. The bed was really comfy and made for a good sleep. We only stayed four nights but felt like we couldve easily stayed longer. Definitely coming back!

Not a platinum stay where located on a corner had traffic all day and evening, people turning up with kids for swimming lessons car doors slamming,a luxury stay caravan should be away from main entrance and in quite areas people walking up and down all day and going back to their caravan after a drink in the evening a, next door keeping us awake all night, drinking, smoking slamming doors, there needs to be a fence or something between each caravan next door had there sun loungers up against our caravan and all we had ever time they got up and sat down was a bang on the side of our caravan,so we just went out as much as possible to get away from it,so much for a restful week

We stayed here for our daughters wedding nearby and honestly, it had its ups and downs. The place was comfy enough and with the weather being a bit grim, the heating was a real lifesaver-especially for my parents in their 80s. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, which made a difference. That said, the cottage did lack a few basics-no toilet roll, no mirror and the bathroom bin wasnt emptied, which was a bit disappointing. Also, no safety rails on the stairs and not a full set of crockery. Still, we appreciated the warm welcome!
Emma
Date of stay: 24th May 2024
The crockery situation was a bit tight for just three of us and clear instructions on how to operate the central heating wouldve been useful. Not ideal!
Jessie
Date of stay: 24th May 2024
Rob and Sharon really put a lot of love into transforming this historic building and it shows. From the warm welcome they gave us, to Bonnies friendly fussing, it felt like staying with friends. The place itself is comfortable and perfect for relaxing. We loved exploring Thaxted and the surrounding villages-such charming spots with so much history. If you're after a cosy getaway in Essex, this is definitely worth a visit!
