Any pet owner will know just how important it is to bring along our four legged friends when we’re away from home. There’s nothing better than having them around and going for long countryside walks where they can run around, but sometimes it can be a challenge to find a great holiday cottage that’s pet friendly. Mariners’ Rest – Whitby
Pets will love this four bedroomed cottage views over the iconic harbor and railway, thanks to it’s spacious layout. Enjoy long seaside walks along one of the coastal beaches or clifftops and allow your pooch to run free in the incredible countryside of the North York Moors National Park or take the 199 steps to the famous Abbey. There’s also a patio with French doors and excellent amenities with elegant décor throughout.
Rutland Grange – Filey
Two well-behaved dogs are welcome at Rutland Grange, a three-storey townhouse in Filey with its own hot tub on the enclosed rear patio. The beach is just 0.3 miles away, so the morning walk starts almost at the front door, and the pub is only 0.1 miles down the road. 
Inside there’s room for 14 in seven bedrooms, most of them en-suite, plus a games room with a pool table for rainy evenings. It’s one of our favourite group cottages with hot tubs. Scarborough is 8.2 miles up the coast and Bridlington is 11.5 miles away.
Sea Blue House – Scarborough
Built in 1853, Sea Blue House is a four-storey historic house in Scarborough with sea and beach views, and up to two dogs stay free of charge. It sleeps 10 in four bedrooms, including a ground floor bedroom reached by three steps at the main entrance. It’s a lovely base for Yorkshire mini breaks with the dogs.
Wi-Fi, bed linen, towels and a welcome pack are all included. There’s no parking at the house itself, so you’ll use the nearest pay and display car park.
Moby Dick Cottage – Whitby
Nestled in the bustling town of Whitby, Moby Dick Cottage is located just two minutes from the town centre. It overlooks the marina, offering wonderful views to people watch over your morning coffee. Take the dog for a walk by exploring the cobbled streets to the marina and go for long strolls across the beaches and up towards the abbey.
Just a few minutes away is a plethora of charming independent shops, cafes and restaurants, as well as an indoor market, so there’s plenty to do for the entire family.
