Lovely place to stay, defo need a car as in the middle of nowhere. Could di with some things being put in the accommodation like draw in the kitchen as cultery in a try in the cupboard, only hanging facilities in the main bedroom no draws, shelves needs a table next to the bed. Need hooks to hang coats on in hall / back of doors. Also as pet friendly, could do with a gate on the front porch. Will be great when there is more built there, hopefully with a bar, shop etc.

A beautiful new modern lodge with a perfect layout for our party to enjoy. Bedside tables/ledge would have been handy along with a microwave but not the end of the world, honestly just trying to find fault at this point.

Had a fantastic long weekend stay at Landal Barnsoul the lodge was amazing! The only thing with having a dog with us would be to have a gate on the balcony to stop them from getting out.

Everything in the lodge is fantastic, really nothing to fault at all. The most comfiest bed and amazing quilt, the pillows could be better though, could just be personal opinion.

We stayed in an Orka 1.0 spa lodge and would stay again for a short break, for longer breaks we would book a bigger lodge. Only con we had about the lodge was the lack of dining table in our lodge. The pros - there were so many. The lodge was clean, tidy, light and fitted in very well with its surroundings. Our favourite part was sitting in the Hot tub on a night with the clear skies, seeing shooting stars with the sound of the stream in the background, it was just simply beautiful and relaxing.

Ive given this a 5 star for the future of this development. I could complain about the road into entrance of site but there are still works going on to build the rest of the development as of Feb 2024. The actual lodge we stayed in was beautiful. Overlooked the woods at the back this was great for a family of 4.Thanks for a lovely stay and Im looking forward to staying again when its fully developed, maybe before.

We stayed in the Orka Pet 1.0 lodge for Christmas 2023. On reading past reviews, we learnt that the lodge didnt have a dining table or microwave which was strange, but when a member of staff contacted us the day before we arrived, we asked the staff member about this and they offered to put a small table and chairs in the lodge for us from reception. We were so grateful for this gesture. It would have spoilt the break otherwise. The bedroom was missing side tables which was annoying, and felt that these items of furniture should be standard in any holiday let. The lodge we had was very overlooked by many lodges. The lodge next door to us was empty thankfully.. the front door has glass on both sides and no blinds so, a lack of privacy would have been an issue more so at night when the lights would be on and you can see in more. Bed small, but very comfortable and linen and towels felt brand new. We loved the location and can see in few years time the site will be wonderful its very much in the early phase of the build. We love the concept, but just needs some extra thought regarding customer comforts and privacy in the orka lodges. Thanks

I had a great stay here with my partner and couldnt have asked for anymore. Great value for money. The hot tub was brilliant and everything was immaculate. Could not have asked for anything else in my stay. The facilities were excellent and the reception staff were extremely helpful with everything.

Over all was a very lovely weekend, the weather was really bad but that can't be helped we still made the most off it and very much enjoyed our stay, we even got chance to use our hot tub once while there. The lodge was beautifully designed very clean and very comfy beds. They provided dressing gowns which was a nice touch however they was a bit hard would have been a nicer if they was a little softer. Kitchen was great to use and cook in everything was there you would need again however would have been nice if there was a microwave too. Overall though an enjoyable weekend we would recommend it to friends and we can't wait to come back and hopefully the restaurant will be built as we can't wait to try that.

In a nutshell, this site is NOT ready for letting out these units. A lot of money paid for a 3 bed lodge which had a huge list of things missing that had been listed by landal as available. NO enclosed fenced area for dogs ( had to cordon off decking with an upturned table ). No microwave, no Smart TVs in bedrooms, 1 single wardrobe between 3 bedrooms ( which was full of mud and dirt ) , no drawers in bedrooms, no coffee machine, no wine cooler, so called Smart TV in lounge with only freeview channels. No hanging space for coats. No vacuum cleaner. NO SHOP, NO BIKE HIRE Landal were contacted when we were on site and advised there are supply chain issues then all other requests/emails were ignored. The list is endless! full complaint coming their way.

Beautiful lodge with wrap around decking, large rooms, hi spec bath/shower rooms all very modern, beds are the most comfortable Ive slept in, could do with wardrobes though as no storage for clothes in bedrooms. All electric heating which is adjustable for each room and easy to use. Kitchen fully equipped with dishwasher and washing machine.

Brilliant & cosy cottage far enough out the way to be secluded but close enough to local amenities. Amazing hotub & bathroom with underfloor heating throughout tops it off. The owners, Rob & Sharon are wonderful! (And of course Bonnie) Will definitely be coming back again for longer ASAP!!
Emma
Beautiful cottage with hot tub and log burner. lovely hosts, peaceful, perfect for our mini break. Hope to return for longer soon!

Really well equipped house, lovely and warm too which was so nice on a rainy December day! Bath was just lovely and a nice big shower! The property is under a flight path - this did not disturb us at all! Dont be put off! A great location for dogs who hate fireworks as it's in the middle of nowhere. Really beautiful, well converted property. Thank you!
Andrew
It was everything we wanted for our weekend away and we loved staying here. We'll definitely be back! Our pups absolutely loved the underfloor heating and had so much fun in the garden. In fact Luna came home with a strained tail and according to the vet it was because she was wagging it so much over the weekend!! Very happy pups and hoomans!

Lovely cottage. Great location for us. Away from the hustle and bustle. Great hot tub . Lovely helpful non intrusive owners. They have it just right!
Brooke
Absolutely loved how well maintained and equipped this cottage is. Plenty of dog walks right on the doorstep. Very friendly host, they were so efficient and communication was excellent. We enjoyed meeting the animals on the farm and the very curious pig penelope. Perfect escape for us and the doggos. Will definitely be back, brilliant value!! Highly recommend.
Libby

Very kind and considerate owners. Couldnt be better. Enormously helpful and extremely pleasant. Charming half-timbered cottage with a great strong shower, cosy kitchen & living room combination and very comfortable bed. Fantastic parking directly next to the rented cottage. Well heated and very charming, and spotlessly clean. Great walks across the fields to the local village of Thaxted and of course within easy travelling distance of the village, replete with half-timbered houses and windmill.

We had a wonderful time in Goddard Mead. The cottage was very complete and there were walks on the doorstep. The welcome and stay was very warm. The owners are lovely people.
Carol
The owners Rob & Sharon, have gone to a great deal of work to sympathetically convert this historic building & we couldn't have had a warmer greeting from them both & of course Bonnie. Goddard's Mead has everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The location is in a great area of Essex and would recommend taking the time to wander around Thaxted and other villages/towns nearby to discover it's fascinating history & buildings.

Such a lovely place to stay in a really beautiful, private location. The owners were really friendly and helpful, nearby if needed but without breaking that sense of privacy. The hot tub was perfect after a day of cycling! One thing to be aware of, the cottage is right under Stansted's flight path, and so there's a lot of aircraft noise. It only took us a couple of hours to get used to it and it didn't spoil our holiday at all, but something to be aware of if you're sensitive to noise.
Richard
The lovely cottage is situated on a working farm, but is very private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are delightful. The cottage is very spacious with good equipment in the kitchen and the bathroom. The bed is really comfortable. The garden is secluded; dog proof and with good furniture. There are numerous walks around. Thaxted has good restaurants. We liked The Star and The Maypole. The Swan and the Indian are not bad either. We thoroughly recommend this place.
Denise
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Sharon and Robert were great hosts and made us feel very welcome. The accommodation had everything we needed and was clean, comfortable and secure for our dog Archie. The location was ideal too with plenty of walks to find and Thaxted and surrounding villages are lovely places to visit. We felt our batteries had certainly been recharged during our week and we enjoyed our relaxing break!
Sharon
Stayed here for a week from 15 to 22 July with our 2 mini daschund girls who thoroughly enjoyed there stay making new friends in the village of thaxted. The cottage is lovely especially the hot tub a bonus as it was the hottest days of the year so the water was coolled so it was more refreshing the hosts were very welcoming was nice to see there horses being taken to the fields each day you are on the flight path near stansted but I enjoyed watching the planes come in would definitely recommend
