This place is perfect for a peaceful getaway! The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed. The hot tub was a real treat after long walks nearby. Quiet location, lovely village, we had an absolutely fantastic time. Highly recommend!

The lodge was spotless and super comfy, really enjoyed our stay. Only downside was the description mentioning an ensuite shower in the master, but it was just a toilet and basin. Still, lovely place overall!
We loved the peaceful rural setting of this holiday home. The courtyard with its slate tiles was charming and the hot tub really made it feel special. Perfect for exploring the countryside!
Great experience, would definitely recommend to friends.
We had a really lovely weekend here and definitely want to come back later in the year!
We really appreciated the spaciousness of the lounge and the kitchen/diner - it made everything so much easier. The shower was excellent and having washing up supplies plus extra bin bags was a nice touch. Two toilets definitely came in handy! On the downside, the main bedroom mattress wasnt great; we could really feel the springs which was a bit of a letdown. Also, this was the only lodge without decking and the outdoor furniture was pretty sparse - just a tiny round table and two fold-up chairs, not really enough when we wanted to eat outside in the lovely weather. The pubs extractor fan was quite noisy at night and being right next to the beer garden, you could hear the crowd outside, so bear that in mind.
Absolutely loved our stay! The owners really went above and beyond. It was so peaceful and just what we needed. Highly recommend!
We had a lovely stay at the lodge. It was spotless, really comfy and beautifully decorated. The bedrooms were quite spacious and the beds super comfy. Would definitely come back and recommend to others!
We absolutely loved this cosy little cottage. Its perfectly tucked away from the hustle but still near local shops and cafes. The hot tub was fantastic and the underfloor heating made everything super comfy. Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel right at home. Cant wait to return!
Room sizes were quite cramped, honestly. Two bedrooms would have been much better. The settees were also really uncomfortable, quite low and hard to sit on.
Great place overall, really comfortable, but a few small things could be better-like WiFi and instructions.
We had a fantastic weekend here! The place really ticked all our boxes and were already planning to return. Our dogs adored the underfloor heating and the garden kept them busy for hours. Luna was wagging her tail so much she strained it-vet says shes just happy! Overall, a lovely spot for both pups and humans. Definitely recommend!
We had a lovely stay at Goddard's Mead! Rob, Sharon and Bonnie really made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The buildings been beautifully restored, keeping its historic charm but feeling warm and inviting. The location in Essex is perfect for exploring Thaxted and nearby villages - so much history and charming architecture around every corner. Honestly, its the kind of place you want to return to for a peaceful break. Highly recommended!
We loved this cosy little cottage! Its nicely tucked away, so it feels really private, but youre still close to local shops and stuff. The hot tub was a real treat and the underfloor heating kept everything super comfy. Rob, Sharon and Bonnie are lovely hosts. Cant wait to return!
We had a lovely weekend stay here and definitely hope to return later in the year.
We had such a lovely stay here! The owners are genuinely warm and thoughtful, making us feel really welcome. The cottage itself is adorable, with its charming half-timbered style and a really powerful shower that was much appreciated after a day out. The cosy kitchen and comfy bed made everything perfect. Parking right next to the cottage is a massive bonus. Its spotlessly clean, well heated and perfect for peaceful walks in the fields to Thaxted. Would definitely come back!
Great place, really peaceful, but quite remote, which is lovely.
Cozy little cabin, spotless and charming.
We had a fantastic stay here! The house was super well equipped and kept us really cosy, even on the rainy December day. The bath was lovely and the shower was plenty big. The location might be near a flight path, but honestly, we didnt notice a thing. Perfect spot for dogs who dislike fireworks, surrounded by peace and nature. Thanks a lot!
We booked a dog walking getaway and honestly, it was just what we needed. The place was lovely, with great pubs and eateries nearby. The best part? Miles of fields and off-road walks - the dog loved it! We didnt want to leave either.
We loved staying here! The peaceful countryside setting was just what we needed and the courtyard was such a lovely spot to relax. The hot-tub really made it special too.
The owners are genuinely lovely and go above and beyond, especially during the storm outage. The cottage was spotless, cosy and well-equipped. Our dog loved the enclosed garden and we really enjoyed the hot tub too!
We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely spot. Sharon and Robert go above and beyond to make sure everythings perfect. Its peaceful, homely and cosy - well definitely be coming back again soon!
We absolutely loved our stay at this lovely spot. The setting is so peaceful and private, perfect for relaxing. The owners are genuinely friendly and make you feel welcome without being intrusive. The hot tub was a real treat after a long day of cycling-such a bonus! A heads up though, the cottage is right under Stansteds flight path, so aircraft noise can be quite noticeable. It didn't bother us too much after a while, but if you're sensitive to noise, its worth considering. Overall, a really charming place to unwind!
We found Ascot perfect for our group, with plenty of space and a great layout. The kids loved it and it suited us perfectly. Lovely experience!
Really enjoyed our stay, peaceful and perfect for relaxing.
We had a fantastic stay! The location in the countryside meant peaceful mornings with stunning views, just what we needed. The lodge was spotless and super comfy, making our stay even better. Theres a cosy pub just down the road serving tasty meals, which was handy. Wed definitely come back - highly recommend it!
Had a fantastic weekend here, would definitely suggest this place for a peaceful anniversary getaway. Lovely stay!
Perfect spot for a chill break, away from the noise but still close to the city centre.
The chalet was really cosy and well-kept. We appreciated how quickly they responded to our questions about the heating and Wi-Fi. Itd be nice if there was a welcome folder with local tips though. Still, wed definitely stay again!
Highly recommended ...This caravan site is for the people who wants a very relaxing holiday.
Fabulous stay lodge was immaculate would recommend and the pub isn't bad either especially curry night on Thursdays.
Don't see any staff,
Lovely quiet site close to local amenities
Excellent place for a quiet get away. Perfect location for days out. Would definitely return
The static caravan was nice and clean, however, there were a lot of cobwebs outside on the veranda. The steps were covered in autumn leaves which must have been there for some time. The kitchen equipment was lacking. One pan did not have a lid. There were no wooden utensils suitable for the non stick frying pan. No tablespoons or whisk and a very blunt potato peeler. The website showed that bedding and towels were provided but there was only one hand towel. When I rang the given phone number for help I was told that they had sent an email, but there was no wi-fi on the site. The email was sent to our PC at home on the day that we arrived. She did arrange for a pack of 2 shower towels to be delivered. There was no towel for the hand basin in the toilet room, no bathmat and the black tea towel was brand new and very fluffy. I would have liked the provision of some cleaning materials. The site was in a nice quiet location and we had some meals at the Bay Horse Inn which was on site.
holiday was great lodge was comfortable and clean, this is not a gripe but a little lamp in each of the bedrooms and lounge would be great
Perfect weekend away just right for what we needed
