Where's Otterfalls?

My wife and i decided to take out 2 children for a short break to Otter Falls in the six weeks holidays and we had a brilliant time. The site is peaceful and very quiet at night so we felt very relaxed. The kids had a great time playing out on their bikes and scooters and there was also a games room which came in handy when it rained. The location was good too with some nice beaches just a short drive away.

Date of stay: 3rd July 2017
We were a family of 10 over three generations. The Stables were spacious so that we were not on top of each other, the table in the dining hall was fab for breakfasts together and the barbeque in the garden was great for dinner. The hot tub was a big hit along with the swimming pool and easy access to the grassy areas. The on-site bistro was way above our expectations.
Patricia, Melksham
Date of stay: 26th June 2017
Absolutely fabulous location, very quiet and private. great facilities, pool and bistro lovely. what's nice it that it's not commercial or too ramped with too many people even when busy. Great for a family holiday or quiet weekend with lots of dog walks around.

Date of stay: 12th August 2016
Lodge was very clean and well equipped but remember to take towels.
Lovely lakeside location with beautiful view from lodge over lake.
Swimming pool clean and not busy when we were staying.
Only odd thing was having to pay for gas and electric at end of stay but this didn't cost much.
Staff were very helpful.
We hired some fishing equipment (very reasonable hire cost) for our youngest son to try fishing and he enjoyed the day learning a new skill. He didn't catch anything but he still enjoyed the experience.
Would stay here again and would recommend.
Monika, Reading

Date of stay: 24th June 2016
Lovely premises; good location within complex. Sleeps 10 but lacking in certain items-only 1 pint glass for example....! The clothes airer was unusable as it was in a million different pieces and the Hoover bag needed emptying before we used it...
However, the hot tub was definitely a great bonus!!!!

We had a lovely upgrade to a 3bedroom lakeside lodge. We had issue with not being able to turn the heating down low enough and would have appreciated wifi in the accommodation, especially as there was no mobile phone reception.

Date of stay: 16th November 2015
We had a brilliant weekend at Otterfalls. The fact that the cost for three nights was the same as for two meant we could stay until the end of Sunday before we left meant we were able to have a full weekend without having to check out of the cottage early morning.

The cottage was well furnished and supplied with plenty of equipment for the four of us, plus two other friends staying in another cottage, to eat together.

Date of stay: 25th September 2015
The cottage was basic, but everything you needed for a comfy weeks holiday. Remember your on holiday, get a way from it all. You know eg at you booking - if there's a dish washer etc. Waking up to ducks waddling down to your cottage, being able to give you dog an energetic short walk while your other half preps breakfast. Eat by the TV, or on the patio. Chatting to neighbours, friendly dates going fishing, taking a short walk to the pool. It was a home from home, beads singing, ducks quacking, rabbits hopping around.

The bathroom was clean and basic, the bedroom relaxing, spacious. The kitchen well equipped with content to do basic, essential cooking.

There is accommodation to suit a variety of parties, couples, families, pets, the outdoor props.
We will be returning.
Date of stay: 18th September 2015
A lovely break in a fab settimg
Chris, Littlehampton
Date of stay: 14th September 2015
Cottage was for two people. Downstairs had an open plan sitting room with a sofa, tv, coffee table and dining table with 2 chairs and the kitchen off to the side. Kitchen was clean and well maintained although the extractor didn't work. There was a welcome pack containing tea bags, coffee sachets, uht milk and a cleaning sponge.
The whole cottage had central heating which was easy to use, but downstairs also had a log burner - we had no need to use this, but logs were available to purchase at reception.
Upstairs was the bedroom with a four poster bed and the bathroom. Again, both clean and well maintained. If we had to gripe about something, the mattress was a bit too firm.
Overall, a pretty cottage that was perfect for our short stay.
Ann, Kent
Date of stay: 12th September 2015
A perfect place to go if you want to get away from it all. Very limited wifi and phone signal so you are as close as you can get to stepping out of the rat race and being able to enjoy nature.
There is a small bar/restaurant which is open five evenings a week. The food served is good. No street lights so a torch was provided for lighting the way back to our lodge.
We stayed in a Otter island lodge and were very pleased with it. A number of jigsaw puzzles were available to fill a dark evening.
Disappointed with the games room as all it contained was a pool table that was broken/unusable but I think that was the only grumble from our group.
Try to take as many grocery supplies as you can as the onsite shop is very limited. Nearest supermarket we found was a large Tesco in Honiton.
Definitely recommend this place as a good hideaway from the world and it's madness.
Paula, Worcestershire

Stuart, Reading
Date of stay: 8th August 2015
The lodges have great facilities although the dishwasher leaked it was replaced with a new one within a couple of days.
They are spacious and comfortable. The view from the lodge of the lake is outstanding.

Being an open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area the smoke alarm was sensitive to frying and the toaster. Even with the extractor fan on full it went off.

These were small inconveniences. We would all like to stay there again.
Debra, Bromley

Date of stay: 27th June 2015
We enjoyed a relaxing holiday at Dovecote Cottage. The rooms are large, the furniture is comfortable. The resort is peaceful and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We really liked the swimming pool. On the downside the pool table is ripped and the cues have no tips. The wi-fi facility is very restricted - when the bar and games room are closed (i.e. most of the time) you can only access wi-fi on the patio outside the bar.
Stella, Northwood
Date of stay: 15th June 2015
It was a gem! I booked a lodge to sleep 10 of us and the Shire stables did not disappoint.
We now wished that we should have stayed longer than the 3 nights.

Cottages are spaces and comfortable with all the facilities. It's a self catering place and the only missing thing was a washing up liquid or tables for the washing machine. The nearest shops are quite a distance to go & get such a small item.

The log burner was fantastic. Just don't forget the matches (we did!).
The kitchen was very well equipped too. The beds were comfortable and the lakeside lodge was spacious, with a view to die for!
Mark, Merriot . Somerset

The property is starting to look a bit tired in my opinion the kitchen has bits loose and the downstairs shower room Defo needs updating . I also feel to charge you for gas . electric or oil is just grabbing a bit more out the customer after they have paid a fair price for staying already
Katriona, Shrewsbury
Date of stay: 3rd November 2014
Our lodge was so warm, clean and beautifully appointed. Didn't need the heating at all over our weekend. Comfortable kingsize bed and good, easy to use appliances. Few more pictures on the walls in the bedrooms might be nice....

Pamela, Portsmouth
Date of stay: 17th October 2014
Overall excellent loved the stone cottage - felt so cosy when there was a heavy downpour and thunder and lightening. Only a small grumble - when opening a couple of the windows there were a large quantity of flies in the surround which we felt should have been part of pre clean as the staff seemed to be aware when mentioned.

The park itself is in beautiful surroundings and if its peace and tranquility you want you have come to the right place.
We stayed in otter falls lodge 2 which had been recently refurbished and was situated right at the waters edge which was ideal for fishing.
Facilites were good so plenty to do.
Only thing we would say is that is was a little expensive and didnt help that you need to pay for electric, gas and oil as an extra.
Didnt take away from the holiday though and would definately visit again.
Simon, Harlington, Bedfordshire
Date of stay: 19th July 2014
We would prefer to be closer to one of the fishing lakes.
Next year we will book one of the lodges.
The long barn was very nice, but better suited to an out of season break.
The patio was too shady (not much you can do about that) and the wall garden needed replanting.

I went to stay at the lodge for the weekend with friends and we couldn't fault anything! It had the most beautiful surroundings and we were situated right alongside the lake. WE stayed in a lodge that slept 6 people and we had plenty of space and facilities. The staff were very helpful and available when needed. We will definitely be revisiting :).
A Group of young professionals looking for a weekend away. Arrived at 9.30pm no problem. The lodge was clean, warm and had all the necessary facilities. Hot tub was good to go. Oi Oi.

Spent a wonderful long weekend at Otter Falls. Everything about it was great. The location is lovely and the staff friendly and helpful. Great pub at Upottery and close to Honiton for supplies. Would highly recommend and definitely visit again.
