Amazing lodge, nothing bad to say!

After not once but twice driving down to check with reception if we were given the right lodge, as there was welcome treats with others names on them in our lodge. we were told its definitely correct, half an hour later after unpacking with 2 young children, We were then told they had given us the wrong booking/lodge and could we move. We politely declined but nothing was offered during our stay as an apology. As for the lodge itself not very clean bits on floor, dusty, and when we moved bed to put cot up disgusting. The milk that had been left in the fridge, the seal had been broken which was very odd. As for the location if you have kids nothing for them to do, 1 small side thats it and its Not buggy friendly at all. 2 ponds to walk round with dogs but other than that nothing else. Best part was the hot tube apart from that well overpriced and nothing to do. Oh and plenty of rude people fishing who have there rods all over the place and don't bother moving them when your trying to walk past.

Amazing week stay at Lakeview Manor lodges. The lodge was fantastic. It was spotlessly clean, had all the utilities and utensils needed. We particularly liked the hot tub and the view of the lake and surrounding hills. Plenty of space to exercise the dogs and close to the coast, less than 15 miles from Sidmouth. I highly recommend Beer beach which is quaint and unspoilt and has a few decent pubs. The pub onsite was also a welcome surprise and served good food and beer. Would definitely come back. Also added bonus of commercial spitfire flights from the airfield in Dunkeswell. Wow

welcome pack for guests and dog was provided No facilities to purchase essentials onsite and only local shop was expensive Nearest shops are 8 miles away and nearest beach is half an hours drive Lodge was very warm and held the heat , there was no shade on the decking and no parasol or similar provided Unable to turn hot tub temperature down and it was extremely warm in a heat waveIdeal if you want a quiet relaxing break but difficult with children due to the lack of facilities and drive to any suitable entertainment

We had an absolutely lovely stay at this cosy little cottage. It really has everything you could possibly need, so theres no need to pack much. We ended up overloading the car because we didnt realise how well equipped it was! The welcome pack was so handy, full of useful info and menus. The owners, Sharon and Rob, are super quick to respond if you have any questions. Our dogs loved the enclosed garden and the hot tub was just perfect for unwinding. Thanks for a great break!

We stayed at Goddard's Mead recently and it was lovely. Rob and Sharon have done a fantastic job transforming this historic building with so much care. They couldnt have been more welcoming and Bonnie was adorable too. The place has everything you need for a chilled-out stay. The location is perfect for exploring Essex, especially Thaxted and the surrounding villages. Definitely worth taking a stroll around and soaking in the history and charming sights.
