Where's Bulworthy Forest Lodges?
Lou, Bristol
Date of stay: 5th November 2018
Wow, had the most amazing holiday 1st week of November. The photos do not do this place justice, absolutely beautiful surrounding the accommodation was so much bigger than expected, as well as the hot tub, which could easily seat 8 adults. The most peaceful place, just what me and my family needed.
Internet isn't bad considering where we were. Not easy to send messages, but we managed. The owners were very accommodating if there were any problems.
The slope upto Chestnut took a couple of goes at negotiating with the car, but soon got used to it.
Absolutely loved this place and so want to go back.
Lynda, Herefordshire

Chestnut is a large lodge, set high in the trees up a steep drive . It has views of the top lake. There is a covered hot tub outside and a picnic bench both with forest /lake views. The lodge is comfortable, has everything you need - tumble dryer, washing machine etc, and is very private. It is always surrounded by birds and wildlife and is really peaceful - a real getaway.
Denise, Exeter
Date of stay: 22nd October 2018

A lovely peaceful place to spend a week surrounded by forest and with great views. We went for a week of rest and fishing which we got. The hot tub was amazing and staff were friendly. The cabin was warm and cosy, just what we ecpected. This is our second visit and we'll definitely be going back.I would highly recommend this destination.

The lodge was amazing and spotless on arrival with all beds made up and a pile of fresh scones with jam and clotted cream was waiting on our arrival which went down a treat. They were absolutely lovely, I loved everything about the lodge, Iv always wanted a static caravan but after staying here thats out the window I want a lodge it was so relaxing and spacious I wanted to move in.

Quaint lodge with all the facilities needed. Covered hot tub was a plus after a long day sight seeing.

Date of stay: 4th August 2018
Absolutely loved this place, the lodge was spacious and comfortable. The kitchen could do with some more saucepans/baking trays etc. The lodge is set in idyllic forestry, we had fun walking the dogs. The hot tub was amazing to relax in in the evening with a glass of wine. We hope to return to Bulworthy lodges.

Date of stay: 14th July 2018
Lovely cosy lodge for 4 people. Could do with an extra chair in lounge or swap the chair for a two seater so couples can sit together. Double bed squeaks loudly at every move....not ideal for a romantic evening!!
Otherwise everything is perfect!! We BBQd, baked scones, made pina coladas and beached every day and had the lovely hot tub to relax in on our return!!! Would totally recommend it for a holiday together with your fur baby....our dog loved it so much he sulked for 2 days on our return home!!!
Alan, Bracknell

Date of stay: 11th June 2018
These lodges are lovely and have a homely feel. They are not 5 luxury that you are worried about touching anything but are warm , comfortable and ideal for the location.
Celia, Beccles
Date of stay: 9th June 2018
Overall cottage great could not fault, but as we came for fishing very disappointed with maintenance of lakes , so I thought a bit pricy without fishing being sorted out then it would be good value

Date of stay: 30th April 2018
Hunters lodge was a lovely quaint clean lodge. Nice open plan from kitchen/diner to living room. Nice size bedrooms and bathroom. Excellent facilities provided, took my own cafetire and there was even one there. Lodge is more cabin like inside with some wooden cladding. My parents were in Kingfisher which was a lot more lodge like with real logs inside out, and included hot tub.

Great place to visit to just chill and relax or to visit with family and friends. Lots of great walking areas on site, our lodge had a swing on the veranda, picnic table and BBQ facilities outside great for daytime/evenings. We have a lodge holiday at least once a year, woodpecker lodge was once if the cleanest and cosiest we have enjoyed.
Sharon, Salisbury

Paul, Cornwall
Date of stay: 9th March 2018
very comfortable lodge warm and cosy some points to note some of the kitchen knives in this lodge were very blunt and would not cut anything we tried to play a dvd as there was a player under the tv which after spending 1 hour trying to get it to work doesn't play there is a built in dvd player in the tv after first time locking the door the key broke spent the rest of the week locking door via a pr of pliers to turn the key I had a key cut out of my own exspence at the local town to bring back and they cut it incorrectly at a cost of 7.50 pounds I advised the site owner of this but no thought of reimbursement for my outlay took key back and they reqd another payment for the correct key cut
Suzie, Devon
Date of stay: 12th February 2018
Very warm, clean, cozy, well equipped. Great hot tub. Two bedrooms downstairs (bunk beds in one, double in the other) hot tub on ground level too. Bedroom upstairs we let the children have and they loved it! It had one single bed and one double and TV! it was like their den. Stairs very steep, almost like a ladder. However not a problem for us, as boys bit older and were careful. They also had a balcony which was very sheltered, and they even had a sofa out there! Would definitely go back and would definitely recommend.
Rachel, Worcester
Date of stay: 30th December 2017
The holiday was great we all enjoyed it as a family of 5 the hot tub was great and relax8ng and so was the whole holiday the lodge was amazing too
Jamie, Plympton
Date of stay: 23rd December 2017
Just brilliant!
John, Lancashire
Date of stay: 10th December 2017
Simply cannot wait till we return in July, which I might add was booked during our first visit, on the second day!
So no complaints from us whatsoever..I could see how a few cabins wouldnt be unsuitable for wheelchair users, but this is clearly included in the cabin description.
If you love the outdoors and like to walk this place is second to none, with the added nature too this place ticks all the boxes.
Throughly recommend.
Richard, West Sussex.
Date of stay: 4th December 2017

Darren
Date of stay: 31st October 2017
Wonderful time very good for short break but a car is a must as very isolated and no street lighting t night .
Samantha, Essex
Date of stay: 28th October 2017
Chestnut lodge had gorgeous views , a fantastic hot tub and everything you could possibly need for a family break. The only recommendation I would make is to make one of the double bedrooms another twin room as we had to take a camp bed, none of my kids would share a bed. However everyone slept well and I was very impressed with how spacious the lodge was.
Derek, Portsmouth
Date of stay: 28th October 2017
lovely place if want to be away from the (rat race) very quiet & if your fit ideal for walking cycling, fishing if want
Alexander
Date of stay: 20th October 2017
Lovely location down quiet country roads. Plenty of wildlife about on site. Lodge very clean on arrival, although door mat could do with being a tad larger when the weather is not so good, especially when coming back in with a dog.

Rosebay is a fabulous retreat. The lodge is beautiful and cosy.
Patrick, Kent
Date of stay: 14th August 2017
Our lodge was idyllically located, barely 20 feet from a tranquil lake, deep in a remote tree-lined valley. Although not new, it was comfortable, well-equipped and welcoming, even down to a pint of milk and a packet of scones, jam and clotted cream. The central heating was very efficient, taking only a few minutes to take the chill off the place after dark. Our only disappointment came on our penultimate night when the boiler sprang a leak and fused the electrical system. The custodian was not able to fix the boiler, leaving us without water for a day and a half. We were able to use another lodge for water supply, the loo and washing, but having to traipse about with kettles and jugs was a bit of a pain, especially at night. Without that little problem, I would have given the lodge 8 1/2 out of ten.
Kirstyn, Boston

As previous reviews stated very quiet and peaceful if you like fishing perfect. Lake just outside the door. It is a bit out of the way and a car trip to wherever you want to go shop/pub so someone always needs to drive . The lodges have everything you need . We spent our days out and the evenings in . Perfect. There is lots to do in the surrounding area and all easily accessible lots of info in the lodge to help you plan your day. The dog loved her holiday .

Date of stay: 10th September 2016
Lovely, well equipped lodge. Slight issue with ill fitting shower door, resulting in mold up the wall. I actually cleaned the mold off the wall and was rather surprised that the cleaning staff had left it there.
The hot tub was ok, but jets were not working and the knobs appeared to be broken, but there were plenty of bubbles coming from otheroutlets in the tub.
Karen, Northamptonshire
Date of stay: 30th July 2016
the lodge (larches) itself was lovely, spacious, clean and all the facilities you need if bringing a family ie washing machine, tumble dryer etc...lovely lodge in a lovely location
Sarah, Essex
Date of stay: 30th July 2016
Chestnut lodge is well equipped with everything we needed, plenty of space in it too. The washing machine and tumble dryer were a god send for us. We spent a lot of time on the beach so it was nice to be able to run the towels and costumes through the wash and get them dry for the next day.

There is a TV in every room!! Although we did not watch it that much, mostly we enjoyed the surroundings of the fishing lake which was right next to us and the hot tub and walking around in the forest which meant there was little time for electronic devices or TV's!

The hot tub was a lovely addition to our holiday and enjoyed by all, it was nice that it was in it's own little hut right next to the lodge. In the kitchen of the lodge there are even plastic wine glasses etc. that can be used in the hot tub.....very relaxing!!

The children loved fishing in the lakes and everyone caught something...more than once! We used Croyde and Saunton beaches which were a short distance away for surfing and body boarding. Westward Ho is only a few miles away too.

It was lovely to just spend time in Chestnut lodge out of the reach of the hustle and bustle of life and the fact there was very little phone signal and no 2/3/4G signal or wifi available made the whole experience even better for us.

We would definitely go here again, the owner was around most days for anything that you needed and was absolutely lovely. This holiday provided a little bit of quiet and calm in our hectic family life and we loved every minute of it!

Date of stay: 19th March 2016
The Lodge was clean and in a perfect location. The Hot Tub rounded off each day. The facilities in the Lodge if you wanted to cook a meal were all available. It was good to have a washing machine and tumble dryer as well.

We love staying in Bluebell, but have notice that it is starting to look at little bit tired in places. But this is only natural of any accomadation that is well used over a period of time.
We certainly will be looking to book Bluebell again next year without any hesitation.

Date of stay: 30th December 2015
As I said all that was wrong was the heating and hot water but was soon looked at and when it wasn't working we managed it didn't put us off at all
Lucy, West Sussex
Date of stay: 30th December 2015
Honeysuckle was very clean and well equipped with everything we needed and the large dishwasher was a bonus. There were a few small maintenance jobs identified and the bedding was a bit dated, but overall the lodge is well designed, really warm and having the sauna was great. We felt that the holiday was good value for money and we would go back.

Date of stay: 31st October 2015
This is the second time we've been to this lodge.
It's well fitted out, clean and tidy.
Bed linen and towels were provided , lovely fresh and clean.
TV's in all rooms with CD player included.
Only tiniest of snipes would be the lack of wifi ,but to be really honest it's totally worth it.
The pease , quiet and relaxing time out weighed this issue :-)
The covered hot tub is a great extra even on a cold winter day/night. :-)
Thumbs up from us all.
William, Lincolnshire
Date of stay: 31st October 2015
Clean, tidy, comfy furniture with a well equipped kitchen ( including washing machine) and plenty of hot water.
Karen, Broadway
Date of stay: 31st October 2015
We stayed in Sycamore lodge which is a very well equipped lodge with extras such as a washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher and also dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, towels and tea towels were provided. The appliances and furnishings were of a very high standard and it was very clean when we arrived. The beds were very comfortable and made up on arrival. I would definitely recommend this lodge although the slope up to it is very steep and we had to reverse carefully down each morning, there is little room for turning the car round at the top.
Lyn, Birmingham
Date of stay: 17th October 2015
A fantastic lodge, curtains need a new link, and toilet flush needs a new part, but otherwise perfect.
Jessica, Mancheater
Date of stay: 13th October 2015
Could do with wifi
Dave, Machynlleth
Date of stay: 10th October 2015
The lodge is very spacious and comfortable but the main bathroom was looking tired and would benefit from new flooring. The kitchen was adequately equipped but if you like drinking your wine out of a glass then take your own as only plastic vessels are provided. The tumble drier was a bit dodgy as it didn't turn off automatically and the door was difficult to open, this was reported at the end of our stay so has probably been sorted. The fridge freezer has quite a small fridge section and would be better if the freezer were smaller, but that's just nit picking! The hot tub is fantastic and a great place to relax especially in the dark, watch your head on the roof overhangs though, ouch!
Angharad, Cardiff

Well equipped lodge .All one could wish for.Hot tub an added bonus as was the fishing.we all had a brilliant time.
Janet, Liskeard
Date of stay: 12th September 2015
We had trouble with the hot tub - it would not maintain its temperature. We picked Oakapple because of the hot tub and this was a bit of a disappointment. However the lodge could not have been more well equipped. The fisherman from the group was very happy.

Date of stay: 12th September 2015
Foxglove is a very homely and welcoming lodge with all the mod cons you need, yet keeping the ambience of a log cabin. There is ample room and space, yet it still remains cosy.
Judith, Derby
Date of stay: 12th September 2015
Lodge comfortable and clean. Not a lot of light in main room during the day due to trees blocking sun,but nice on the veranda. If you are seeking a place away from noise and don't mind the narrow lanes then this is the place for you. No mobile signal ,at least on EE in lodge. There are ducks, pheasants and squirrels in the area and bats flying over the pond at night.
Simon, Farrell
Date of stay: 1st September 2015
The only real complaint was the double mattress you could feel the springs when laying down.

Other than that fantastic.

Edward, Stevenage
Date of stay: 18th July 2015
The lodge I had is first class every thing is there that is needed, washing machine, tumble drier, dishwasher, very good television and the bed is very comfortable one of the best I have slept on and the owners were also very friendly and helpfull. The only complaint I have is the approach road to the lodges, it is to long, very narrow and in a poor state, a 4x4 would be more suitable not a family saloon, although the road on the site is fine.

I have been to one or two other sites like this and little consideration is taken of the approach road when laying out this type of site. If nothing can be done about the approach (maybe it's a council road) then the site should not be sited there.

Very comfortable lodge equipped with absolutely everything we needed! When we arrived the beds were made and the lodge was cleaned to a high standard. The bathroom was clean and the shower was quite powerful. Everything worked as it should. The lodges were set out in such a way that when we sat on the balcony we couldn't see any of the other lodges and it felt as though we were the only people there. We will be going again.

Date of stay: 2nd May 2015
The lodge wasn't overlooked by anyone and what was really nice is that the hot tub is covered so useable in all weathers.
Was also amazingly clean and well equipped including a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier and fridge freezer. Plus every utensil you would need for cooking.
Only quibble would be that the showers were not very powerful and struggled to maintain a constant heat but really doesn't impact on your stay.
Pete, Surrey

Date of stay: 13th September 2014
Although without hot tub, this is a clean, well equipped and comfortable lodge, set at the top the small site, was charming and a wonderful surprise. Access for car to its front door gives no problems to get to even with the hill. A little gem provided a quiet haven of peace. No entertsinment facilities on site, but that was part of its benefits for us. Loved it, would return. 5

Only negative was that our hot tub did not work properly- only one side had the pump working so we all had to move around to get a turn with the bubbles :)

lodge is in a great position which is only let down by the very tight bend up the drive way and the difficulty in leaving the property in a large vehicle; made easier if the neighbours are out and you can use their driveway. We drive a large vehicle.

Date of stay: 31st May 2014
Probably one of the best equipped accommodation we have ever stayed in. Plenty of crockery and with everything thought of - even dish cloths. Comfy beds and a real home from home. Very steep site that is very quiet so may not suit everyone. We loved it though.
David, Bristol

The location was really nice, so quiet and peaceful with beautiful surroundings. Other places to visit were just a short car ride away.

The most relaxing peaceful holiday to date! The cabin was so fresh, light and clean and the hot tub was fabulous. It was wonderful staying in a peaceful pine forest with just the sounds of wildlife around you, and not too far away from the shops and beaches. Both our dogs thoroughly enjoyed it too!
Lynn
It would be more comfortable if there was a smother path between the lodge and the hot tub with a shelter over the top
Chantelle
Lodge was lovely & clean too. Luckily we got a good price because if the time of year otherwise I think they’re quite pricey. Can’t fault it though. Nothing in the area, you need to drive out to go anywhere.
Jackie
Perfect for complete getaway
Karen
This is a lovely spot to stay it is very hilly so no good if you can't get about you need the car to go anywhere, but it is really lovely lots of wild life to see and if you like to walk it's got some good walks.
Kay
Lovely warm lodge, nice to sit on the swing seat with a glass of wine watching the wildlife. Excellent clean peaceful site.
Claudia
The lodge was very clean, well equipped and welcoming. The location was very quiet, rural and well maintained. You just have to be a little brave on the public road to get to the site.
