The Sherwood Hideaway Lodges - Reviews

Nine of our lodges have shower over bath. They all have a family bath room with shower/tap mixer. The 3 bedroom lodges have 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin bedroom - the twins can be made into a double by prior request.

The park facilities sauna etc are available at Thoresby Hall Hotel at a discounted price.

There are cycling and walking trails way marked and starting from The Shberwood Hideaway.

Brilliant cant fault cleanliness of rooms.So peaceful and relaxing hot tubs a definate bonus. Only negative was no available wifi or signal, not that I use my phone continuous but like to keep in touch with family left at home!!! DO NOT WISH TO PAY FOR WIFI !!!!!! Apart from that amazing weekend and will definately go back, cant wait for 1 bedroom lodges available.

Absolutely amazing holiday.relaxing,really easy to unwind at the beautiful park ,amazing views from lodge .Nothing negative to say completely satisfied.

Dirty place , forest close ....so i don't recomand

Accommodation was less than ideal, upon arrival it was filthy. Floor was covered in crumbs and bits everywhere. Hadnt been mopped as dirty marks everywhere. Bathrooms were not clean. Beds were extremely uncomfortable in all rooms no one slept very well at all. Hot tub didnt work as it should, no jets despite reporting to maintenance. We dont believe it was checked during our stay as the water smelt stagnant and colour changed. We all showered before using. The place was very run down, needs a lot of work. We stayed here 10 years ago and couldnt fault it. We will not book this site again.

Weve visited Sherwood hideaway before a few times but this was pre Covid and as a family. This time we spent a very peaceful 4 days on our own as the teens are now busy. I was a little worried having read the reviews and hearing that the company had been taken over but we really neednt have worried at all. We usually stay in the wood land view 3 bed lodges and liked the layout and decor so we went for a 2 bed this time and it was just perfect. Everything worked like it should have done the fridge is big but theres only a small freezer compartment. We cooked fresh every day so this wasnt a problem. The bed was comfy and the beautiful bath was a real treat. The site seemed really quiet. We only heard one other family in their hot tub. The only visitors were birds and rabbits and the hot tub man. At night we watched the shooting stars and planes and satellites in the sky. We both work very hard in stressful jobs and we totally decompressed and read our books. The internet was ok most of the time and if it did drop it soon came back online quickly. The site is really quite perfect for a complete recovery week. We could see some new lodges were being installed and Im sure the privacy between the lodges will be addressed during this install but we were completely private and not overlooked at all. It would be nice if dog walkers could stick to the roads and not walk the dogs behind peoples lodges as it does intrude on peoples privacy. On leaving we spoke to the lovely lady manager who has been there years and Confirmed it was the same team and just the ownership that had changed. We cant wait to book our next trip.

Great spot for a relaxing long weekend after Christmas, highly recommend!

Our family's stay at Sherwood away was a complete and utter disaster, a stark contrast to the relaxing break we desperately needed with our 12-week-old baby. This experience was a masterclass in how to ruin a family holiday.From the outset, we were misled. We specifically confirmed a travel cot would fit in the master bedroom, yet arrived to a lodge that was not only different from the advertised images but also completely unsuitable for our needs. The initial lodge was cramped and nothing like the photos, and the promised cot space simply didn't exist.The "solution" was equally appalling. We were moved to a replacement lodge that was a catalogue of errors: a strong pet odor (despite not booking pet-friendly), a blocked dishwasher, a leaking shower, and a dangerously leaking ceiling. The state of the accommodation was unacceptable, clearly demonstrating run-down and poorly maintained lodges.However, the accommodation issues were overshadowed by the utterly appalling customer service. Alison, a receptionist, was exceptionally rude and dismissive. She verbally attacked me, making false accusations and dismissing my concerns with a level of aggression that left me in tears. Her behavior was deeply unprofessional and incredibly upsetting. Promises of callbacks from management were consistently ignored, leaving us feeling completely disregarded.This is not a family-friendly environment. The misleading information, the substandard accommodation, and the dismissive, abusive staff made our first family holiday a nightmare. We were made to feel like a burden, and the stress caused was immense.Sherwood away is not worth the money. The lodges are not as advertised, the customer service is dreadful, and it is certainly not a place for families. If you are looking for a relaxing, family-friendly getaway, stay elsewhere. You will regret wasting your time and money on this establishment.

Amazing lodge in an amazing peaceful location. Shame the walkways have been closed off but other than that everything was great.

We had such a chilled weekend with our two dogs. Everything we needed was provided and were already planning our next visit. Cant wait!

Nice accommodation

We got bumped over to the Birches lodges because of a problem with our original one, but honestly, we loved it! Huge thanks to the staff - The Birches felt like an upgrade and we really appreciated the change. Definitely a great experience!

We arrived to find that we had been moved to the Birches lodges due to an issue with our lodge, a massive thank you to the staff as The Birches was so amazing and it felt like an upgrade.

We really enjoyed our stay! The lodge was spotless, comfy and had everything we needed. Loved the little extras like the free toiletries, tea, coffee and even treats for our dog. Brilliant!

The lodge was clean, comfortable and well equipped. There were nice touches eg. complimentary smellies in bathroom, Tea, coffee etc. and also pet towel and treats for our dog.

The lodge was cosy but a tad cramped for four of us and our dog. Still lovely!

A good lodge that could be great with a little attention to detail. Location and the Lodge were good. It could have been cleaner and felt like the lodge needed a deep clean, shower didnt drain but this was rectified quickly. WiFi did not work. One of the light shades were torn. Little things needed a bit of TLC to make it perfect.

So, we checked in and at first glance, the place looked lovely. The lodge had a nice wooden feel and the views were pretty stunning. The rooms were a decent size too, so no complaints there. But things started to go downhill pretty quick. We wanted to relax in the hot tub on Friday night, but none of the jets worked - after about 10 minutes, we gave up and got out. The next day, I called reception and they sent someone to look at it. Turns out the motor was broken and the water was full of dead skin and dirt - pretty gross, honestly. They said they couldnt move us because the boss wasnt around and just told us to use another lodges hot tub whenever we liked. Walking over in the freezing cold and pitch darkness in swimwear? Not exactly ideal. We did it once, but that was enough. The hot tub we used was much cleaner and way hotter, with jets actually working, so that was a plus. On Saturday, we tried to use the oven, but only the grill was functional - baking jacket spuds was quite the challenge. The fridge barely cooled anything, so forget about keeping drinks cold. The site itself looked lovely, but it was a shame that all the walkways, fields and forests were closed off - wouldve been nice to explore. Honestly, I wouldnt have booked if I knew the hot tub wasnt going to be working properly - that was the main reason we chose this place!

It's a dirty. We went to 2 lodges and both were just as dirty and unclean. It appeared no one had done any cleaning at all, apart from change the bedding and towels. Cleaning standards should be high with the amount of changeovers and people that come in and out of these lodges. Such a disgusting place to stay. The staff are very good and looked after us, however the cleaners do nothing or very very little. I would not recommend

We had a lovely, laid-back week here. Relaxing in the hot tub while watching shooting stars was truly unforgettable. The location was perfect for exploring National Trust sites and other historic spots, plus there were towns nearby for some shopping. The lodge itself had everything we needed, though the TV had no signal, but luckily we could still watch Netflix on our account. The only minor thing was the dog walkers at night, shining torches around the back of the lodge when we were in the hot tub-gave us quite a fright!

Was a fab chilled week away. Watching shooting stars from the hot tub was awesome. Great location for national trust visiting and other historic places or if you wanted shopping there were towns for that. The lodge had everything you need. Downsides minor.. tv not having any signal but we knew our Netflix account so could watch that. People walking their dogs at night round the back of lodge with their torches when youre in hot tub frightens the life out of you!! ????

The cabin looked quite old and a bit worn, but the bed was super comfy and spotless. Definitely cozy!

We had an amazing time- the hideaway was lovely, we fell for a great weekend. The rooms were lovely, everything we needed and the two fridges were handy. Comfy beds, wonderful hot tub- just a lovely relaxing weekend.
Only issue and it’s a non issue, the settees weren’t very comfy- but honestly, we will be back. Amazing. Thank you ?

A lovely site and perfect base to explore Sherwood Forest

We had a lovely break last weekend, the surroundings were peaceful and it was lovely to get close to nature. We would love to come back here again sometime in the future.
