Fantastic converted barn. Good quality fixtures and fittings. Lovely hot tub. Beds were comfortableWe had a lovely stay and will look to return However some finishing touches, missed repairs and some additions would really make this place perfect.

The holiday home was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. The hot tub was lovely and we enjoyed the sauna just outside the barns too. If I could offer any suggestions it would be that TVs would be nice in all the bedrooms rather than just having the fixings on the wall and somewhere to hang towels by the showers would be convenient. The fishing was great. The gentleman on reception was really helpful with local information. We loved the donkeys too

We had such a lovely stay at the cottage! The location is perfect-peaceful, quiet and surrounded by stunning farml and. We enjoyed seeing the horses and appreciated how friendly and helpful the owners were. Its ideal for anyone needing a relaxing getaway. Wed definitely go back again!

Really enjoyed our stay: a quiet site, very clean and great facilities. Loved the hot tub, pool table, extra fridge and en-suites for each couple. Outside space was great for playing games. The sauna is also an added bonus, as are the donkeys. Having a hot tub to hold 6 was great as weve had lodges before that have only held 4. That being said, the sofas did not comfortably fit 6, only 4! The main flaw though is a lack of drying facilities, towel rails need to be fitted at the very least. Also no hair dryer and limited glasses.

Loved the easy access to dog walks right outside and the host was so friendly and quick to respond. Meeting the farm animals, especially curious Penelope the pig, was a real highlight. We stayed in a lovely, well-equipped house that was so cosy, especially on that rainy December day! The bath was perfect and the shower was surprisingly spacious. Even though it's near a flight path, we barely noticed any noise, so dont let that put you off. Its a great spot for dogs who dislike fireworks since its pretty remote. Thanks a lot, you!

Weve just come back from our second visit and already booked for next February! The place is perfect for winter family get-togethers. The big living area, pool table and hot tub mean we get plenty of fun indoors, especially when its chilly outside. The bedrooms and en-suites are spacious and give everyone a bit of privacy, which is really nice. The only tiny issues we noticed were a bit of a lack of storage in the bedrooms, no hooks in the bathroom and a limited selection of glasses. Honestly, these are small things that would make a big difference-like unpacking our bags and hanging towels instead of draping them over doors. Its such a minor thing, but it really would improve the stay. Thanks for another lovely break! Fingers crossed we can finally unpack properly next time!

We really loved the house and the decor is stunning. Just a few things: the glass table tops are a bit risky with kids around, as they could be pushed off easily. Also, more plates would help and the absence of a colander for veg or pasta was a bit annoying. The bottle opener was broken, too. No plastic cups for the hot tub either, only glass-wouldve been safer. But overall, a lovely stay!

We needed a quick getaway for the dog and this place was just perfect. Lovely comfy accommodation, plenty of countryside for walks and local pubs nearby. The dog loved it so much, didnt want to leave!

We had a fantastic stay at The Meal House! The place was spotless and surprisingly roomy for just the two of us. Its decorated beautifully, with every little detail carefully considered - from dishwasher tablets to coffee pods and milk, which was a lovely touch since we usually bring our own. The hot tub was pristine and private, with stunning views and clear night skies that really made the trip special. Definitely somewhere wed return to!

We had a lovely time at Goddard's Mead. Rob and Sharon put so much effort into restoring this historic building and it really shows. They couldn't have been more welcoming and Bonnie was adorable too! The place has everything you need for a chilled stay. The locations perfect - right in the heart of Essex and wed definitely recommend exploring Thaxted and the nearby villages to soak up some of the local history. Definitely worth a visit!

We loved the cottage! Its nicely tucked away, so super peaceful but still close enough to shops and local spots. The hot tub was a highlight and the underfloor heating kept everything cosy. Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel really welcome. Cant wait to return!
