We had such a lovely stay at the cottage! The location is perfect - really peaceful and relaxing, surrounded by stunning farml and. We even got to see the horses, which was a bonus. The owners were super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Definitely a spot to visit again!

We stayed at this lovely little cottage and honestly, it had everything we could possibly need. We didnt bother bringing much because the place is so well equipped - it kind of caught us off guard! The welcome pack was a real touch, packed with all the info and menus youd want. The owners, Sharon and Rob, were super quick to reply if we had questions. Our dogs loved the enclosed garden and the hot tub was a real treat. Thanks for a great stay, we really enjoyed it!

We stayed at a charming cottage on a working farm, which felt surprisingly private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are such lovely people, making us feel really welcomed. The place itself is spacious and well-equipped, especially the kitchen and bathroom, which was great. The bed was super comfy after long walks in the area. The garden is perfect for dogs-completely private and nicely furnished. We also enjoyed exploring Thaxted, especially The Star and The Maypole restaurants. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge, though we did notice it was missing scissors, which wouldve been handy for opening food bags. Space was a bit tight for eight people to all sit together, but we managed to make it work somehow.

We had a lovely stay at this place. The house is super well equipped and kept us warm during that rainy December weather. The bath was perfect after a long day and the shower was really spacious. Being on a flight path didnt bother us at all, honestly! Plus, its perfect if youve got dogs that hate fireworks - so peaceful and remote. Thanks a lot!

We stayed at Goddard's Mead recently and honestly, Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel so welcome from the start. They've done a fantastic job transforming this historic building with real care. The place is super comfy and perfect for relaxing. The location is spot on, in a lovely part of Essex and we definitely enjoyed strolling around Thaxted and the surrounding villages to soak up the history and charming sights. Highly recommend!

We stayed at this lovely cottage recently and honestly, the owners couldnt have been kinder or more thoughtful. They were super helpful from start to finish, making us feel really welcomed. The place itself is adorable-such a charming half-timbered build with a really powerful shower and a cosy kitchen and living space. The bed was incredibly comfy and parking right next to the cottage was a real plus. Its well heated, spotless and perfect for exploring the nearby fields and Thaxteds beautiful half-timbered houses and windmill. Wed definitely recommend it!

The cottage was really charming and perfect for a peaceful getaway. The only thing to note is the occasional night-time plane noise from Stansted, but the hot tub definitely made up for it!

The owners were super friendly and always willing to help without intruding on our space. After a long day cycling, the hot tub was just what we needed-it really hit the spot. A quick heads-up: the cottage is right under Stansted's flight path, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didnt bother us much once we got used to it, but if you're sensitive to noise, its worth considering. Overall, a great spot!

Had a fabulous long weekend, the views alone were worth the cost! Supermarkets are only a short drive away and the staff were lovely and helpful, even going as far as texting to let us know about potential roadworks on route! I honestly couldn’t fault a single thing.

This is the second time we have been here within a few months first at the Maple Lodge and this time at the Oak Lodge.
Absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish, breathtaking lodges with panoramic views.
Plenty activities available and Nottingham City only 20mins Drive, Tesco, Home Bargains Mac’ds only 1mile away.
The lighting at night outside is fantastic for hot tub and to do a bbq anytime day or night with shelter.
All I can say is it’s a hidden gem book it and you won’t regret it.

The venue itself it beautiful it is set on a gorgeous estate with amazing views. The staff couldn't have been more helpful.

Lodges where excellent but could of been more Kitchen equipment ie. Measuring jug and mixing bowels and tea towels dish clothes and hand soap .

Had an amazing stay at Goosedale would definitely Recommend to family and friends. Staff are very friendly and helpful the lodge was very clean and tidy. I will be booking again next year.
