Ashby Woulds Retreat - Reviews

Great stay, lovely surroundings, staff were friendly and we felt relaxed!

Absolutely loved our stay! The owners really went above and beyond, making everything so easy and enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Great stay, really enjoyed the comfort.

We had a great stay at these lodges! The size was perfect for us and everything we needed was there, from utensils to amenities. Every lodge comes with a hot tub, either outdoors or inside a garage with a TV, though sadly ours wasnt working during our visit. Still, it didnt spoil our fun. The location is fantastic - right opposite a play area and large fields, plus there's a cycle and walking path just behind the site, which was handy for exploring. Check-in and check-out were straightforward and we found the site easily using the postcode on our booking confirmation. The lodges are well-equipped, with the added bonus of a family bathroom and an en suite. The only issue was the mattress - it was quite firm and we could feel the springs, so after a few nights, our backs were a bit sore. Maybe its time for a mattress upgrade? That small thing aside, we loved every bit of our holiday, especially the little touches like dressing gowns and slippers provided. Wed definitely come back - its a lovely place!

We had a lovely stay at this charming cottage. Its tucked away on a working farm, so it feels super private but still has that lovely rural vibe. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are genuinely lovely people. The place itself is really spacious, with well-equipped kitchen and bathroom. The bed was incredibly comfy and the garden is perfect for dogs-completely secluded with nice furniture. There are plenty of walks nearby and we enjoyed the local pubs like The Star and The Maypole. Definitely recommend it!

We loved this cosy little cottage - the log burner and hot tub made it so relaxing. Hosts were super friendly. Definitely coming back soon!

Really enjoyed our stay here

Great stay, would happily do again!

Really loved the place, it was so tidy and welcoming!

We had a lovely stay and would definitely come back. Just thinking next time we might pick an off-peak month to save some money. Its such a nice place to stay!

Had an awesome break with the girls! Super chill and exactly what we needed to unwind. Booking massages on arrival was easy, thanks to Monikas lovely help. Definitely planning to come back next year - we loved it and would recommend to anyone!

We stayed at this place and honestly, it was fantastic. The house is super well equipped and kept us really warm, which was much appreciated on that rainy December day. The bath was perfect and the big shower was a bonus! Being near a flight path didnt bother us at all and its ideal if youve got dogs that dislike fireworks - so peaceful out in the middle of nowhere. Really beautiful and tastefully converted. Thanks so much!

Really enjoyed our stay here! The place was spotless, well-equipped and that hot tub was a highlight.

We had such a lovely stay at this cottage! The place is super well-kept and has everything youd need. Loved the walking trails just outside the door and meeting Penelope the pig was a real highlight. The host was really friendly and easy to communicate with. Its a perfect spot for a weekend away with the doggos. Well definitely return, great value for money!

Overall, we had a decent stay. There were a few minor issues like the lounge fire not staying on and the toilet running after flushing, but they didnt really ruin our experience. Nothing too major, just small things to sort out.

We had an amazing stay at the cottage! The setting was so peaceful, surrounded by stunning farml and where we even spotted some horses. The owners were incredibly welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. Definitely recommend for anyone wanting a calm, relaxing getaway. We'll be back for sure!

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay! The lodge was lovely, but a couple of small things could be improved. A paved path to the hot tub would help with the muddy ground and a light switch near the door would be more convenient. Also, some hooks inside for wet robes and towels would be handy. Still, wed definitely come back!

The lodge was spotless and the beds super comfy, which we loved. The hot tub at the back was perfect for privacy, though its pitch black at night-no lighting at all! Still, a lovely stay.

Really enjoyed our stay, lovely hosts and the jacuzzi was a nice bonus! Definitely coming back.

We loved the peaceful vibe and spotless surroundings. The hosts were super friendly and helpful. The hot tub was a real highlight, perfect for relaxing!

We really enjoyed our stay. The lodges are cosy and well-designed, perfect for a relaxing break. The hot tubs are a big plus and the surrounding walks are so well signposted, making exploring a breeze. Great value too!

We had a lovely stay overall, though the initial lodge we booked had a pretty strong gas smell after just one night, which was a bit of a letdown. The staff were really helpful in sorting out the move, so we appreciated that. Would stay again!

A lovely spot, though a bit pricey, but wed definitely come back again!

Everything was really well organised and the place was perfect for what we needed. The hosts were genuinely lovely and super helpful. We had such a great time in that beautiful location, were already planning to return!

Great spot to unwind, whether you want activity or just chill out. Well be booking again for sure!

We had a fantastic weekend stay here - everything we hoped for and more. The place was perfect and the pups just adored the underfloor heating; they were so happy in the garden. Luna even came back with a strained tail from all the wagging! Honestly, were already planning our next visit. Great spot for both humans and pups alike!

Good place, but it would be better with more details about amenities.

We really enjoyed our stay at Goddard Mead! The cottage had everything we needed and stepping outside for walks was perfect. The warm welcome from the owners made it even more special. Lovely people indeed!

We had an amazing stay at this cosy little cottage tucked away on a busy farm, but honestly, it felt so secluded. Robert and Sharon were lovely hosts, making us feel really welcome. The place is super spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen and comfy bed - we slept like logs! The garden is perfect for dogs, totally private and has nice furniture to chill out on. Plenty of walks nearby and Thaxteds restaurants, especially The Star and The Maypole, are worth a visit. Wed definitely recommend it!

We just got back from a four-night stay at this cottage and honestly, we had a great time. The owners were super friendly but never intrusive, which we really appreciated. The fenced garden was perfect for our dog to run around freely. The place had everything we needed, including a lovely hot tub and a BBQ one evening. Were already thinking about coming back and have told our friends about it! Thanks for a wonderful break.

We have just had the most amazing 3 days here.
The lodge was stunning. Very modern and clean. Well equipped.
The hot tub was a god send in this hot weather.
I honestly cannot find anything negative to say.
Will definitely be booking again in a different area.
Amazing!!

Amazing place fell in love with the log cabin

Lovely little find.Will definitely return

Lovely lodge, with indoor hot tub, cannot be bettered.

Superb

Great, well equipped lodge on a pleasant site. Photos did not do it justice. Spacious and great to have 2 bathrooms. We cooked there too. Great base for getting to Alton Towers, West Midlands zoo, Peak district, all about an hour away. Hot tub was good but couldn't take more than three people without overflowing which was a shame, the only downside

Beautiful lodge and spotlessly clean the only issue was the bed. Mattress felt cheap and you could feel the springs.

Brilliant way to get away and spend quality time with family/ loved ones and have some peace and quiet

Great location. All staff I spoke to were helpful.

Lovely time. Very relaxing and loved the hot tub. Would definitely recommend. Lovely staff from the start to the finish. Thank you.

This is a lovely quiet retreat. Lovely lodge, right by pathways into the National forest and close to lots of interesting places to visit. The Spa treatments, absolutely wonderful as well.

Just a couple of small things, for feedback. An information pack would have been very helpful. It needed a coffee table, as no where to put down drinks when sitting on very comfy settees. Also needed some outside hooks by the hot tub for hanging robes. The step leading into the hot tub not the most stable and difficult to get into the tub if very short.

We had a wonderful stay and fabulous spa treatments. On site staff were helpful. None of the above feedback distracted from a lovely stay. Thank you all.
