Spindrift

Spindrift was the third holiday we have booked with Luxury Coastal. The previous two had delivered handsomely on the luxury front, and as this trip was to celebrate a 70th birthday, we decided to push the boat out, particularly as Spindrift promised 'a holiday home unlike any other'. Well, its view over Praa Sands is absolutely marvellous. And although we had planned a busy week exploring the area and connecting with family, we could have spent every day just staring out of the windows. Unfortunately, luxurious Spindrift really is not. The photos of Spindrift have been so expertly styled that they create an image that the property fails to live up to. As another reviewer mentioned last summer, it's all just a bit tired. There are new carpets, and the upstairs shower room has been nicely modernised, but these improvements just highlight the fact that the downstairs bathroom and the kitchen both badly need an upgrade. Ditto the hot tub. From the images, we expected we'd spend a lot of our time on the balcony and patio areas, lapping up the gorgeous views. But the local gull population put paid to that. When we arrived both areas were so well splattered we couldn't sit anywhere. Puzzlingly, all the patio furniture cushions were also just left out, and so were equally unappealing. It pains me to write such a negative view, but while Spindrift is nice enough, and is in an undoubtedly fabulous location, it's expensive and not what I would consider luxurious.

The house was disappointing for the amount of money being paid for the week. The house is very tired and I would not class it as luxury accommodation. There was only two of us with our dog and it advertises as for 6 adults which I would say would be very tight in the main room. The oven and bath need to be replaced as there is a crack in the bath and the oven takes a time to cook anything especially on the hob and it needs a thorough clean also upstairs in the main room with balcony we could not use the main room lights as the switch was very hot and flickering (we felt could of been dangerous so did not use did inform the owner of this).. On a positive note the view is quite something.

Location was great but for 6 people the space was small and for the price paid it did not have any luxury feel about the property and no one came to meet us at the villa till the last day when the owner came to do some maintenance work outside. Views of the beach was great and outside space was good. Baby cot provided was just a play pan. Had no shampoos or shower gels provided we had to go and buy our own. Oven was not cleaned when we arrived. And the villa needs a redecoration and updating. It also did not have bathroom cleaners.

The 3 bed house is cosy and has the basic essentials. It’s a bit tired but you just cannot beat the location. A 5 minute stroll to a dog-friendly surfing beach, on the windy side, with a great bar that also sells food. Great cliff walk and within a 10 minute drive to Portleven for fantastic restaurants. The spa is an extra special treat, again it’s basic, only small jets, but to sit on the deck in the hot tub and look down on the sea is priceless. No feather pillows or duvets but mattresses not as bad as some places. No fans either.

Beautiful location with great vistas. Lovely house with everything you need for a relaxing holiday and the views are amazing. The owner, Andrew, was really friendly and his local knowledge of places to visit and eat was really helpful, we had some adventures off the tourist grid to some stunning beaches. Towels were provided for the hot tub which was a great place to chill after a day walking along the coastal paths. The local beach bar was lovely (they don’t do food on a Friday evening), stunning beach with a lifeguard station, great watching the surfers and groups of cold water swimmers. Sharp turn up to the house but mastered the manoeuvre very quickly. We would defo stay again, thank you for a wonderful stay!

Wonderful views over a beautiful bay. Had everything we needed in the house. Just the weather in December let us down. However it was a lovely rural and quiet area.

On arrival to Spindrift there was a WOW from all the family the view is stunning the house is amazing and only a very short walk to the beach all eating places locally had amazing food the owner of the property who lives close by was extremely helpful and a very pleasant individual.
