Visitor Reviews of Crake Valley

Charlie, Manchester
Date of stay: 5th May 2025
We stayed at the Acorn Lodge in Crake Valley recently and honestly, it was quite a lovely escape. The location is pretty secluded, a bit away from the main park, which actually worked in our favour. The private garden with the hot tub was a real highlight - evenings soaking in the hot water with the scenic views of the hills was just perfect. And then, to make it even better, it snowed Saturday night - Sunday morning in the hot tub with the snow falling around us was truly magical. The lodge's proximity to a lake and woods made for some peaceful walks, helping us unwind completely. One small thing though, it would be handy if they left some mops in the bathrooms and living area, as the hot tub trips can make the floors quite slippery. Overall, we had a great time and really enjoyed our stay - definitely considering coming back again!

We really enjoyed our stay. The lodge was spotless and cosy and the hot tub was just perfect for relaxing. The peaceful location on the park was great, but a heads up - the outdoor space isnt fully secure for dogs, so watch your pups!

We had a lovely stay at this cottage, tucked away on a working farm but still super private. Robert and Sharon are such nice folks, really friendly. The place itself is surprisingly spacious and well-equipped, especially the kitchen and bathroom, which made our stay even more comfortable. The bed was seriously cosy! The garden is perfect for dogs, totally secluded and nicely furnished. Lots of walks nearby and Thaxted has some great restaurants like The Star and The Maypole. Wed definitely recommend it!

We just got back from a lovely week at Goddards Mead. The cottage is super well-equipped, honestly, everything you could think of is there. The hosts are so friendly and welcoming. Despite being on a working farm, it feels peaceful, like a little retreat!

We had such a lovely stay! The owners are genuinely lovely and super helpful, making us feel really welcome. The cottage itself is adorable, with its charming timber-framed exterior and a cosy feel inside. The shower's powerful and the bed was incredibly comfy-perfect after a day out walking. Parking right next to the cottage was a real bonus and everything was spotless. We loved exploring the nearby fields and Thaxted, such a picturesque place. Definitely recommend!

We've visited Acorn Retreat at Crake Valley twice now and honestly, it keeps impressing us. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the lodge is always spotless. Only small gripe - the pillows could be a bit softer, but overall, its fantastic!

We had such a lovely weekend here! The location is great - away from all the busy tourist spots but close enough for a quick drive into Coniston village. The lodge was really well-equipped and modern, definitely a place we'd stay again. The only tiny hiccup was the Wi-Fi dropping a couple of times, probably because of the storm. Still, overall, a great stay!

Thank you for a fantastic weekend stay. It is perfectly set away from the noise of tourist spots but close enough to Coniston village for a drive in. The lodge was very well kitted out, it was modern & we would 100% re-book. The only minor issue was that the wi-fi went off a couple of times, but this was possibly down to the stormy weather.

We really enjoyed our stay at Tarn Hows. The cabin was beautiful-spotlessly clean, with underfloor heating that kept us cosy. The bathroom was spacious and well-appointed and the kitchen had everything we needed. The hot tub was a real highlight-so relaxing! The area was incredibly peaceful, perfect for unwinding. The only downside was the Wi-Fi situation; satellite Wi-Fi didnt work at all during our visit and the parks free Wi-Fi was unreliable. We ended up watching Film4 for three days straight because of it, which was a bit dull but still a nice break overall.

We had a fantastic stay at this cosy cottage! It really has everything you could think of, so we didnt need to bring much at all. The welcome pack was super helpful, with all the info and menus nicely laid out. The owners, Sharon and Rob, were quick to answer any questions and made us feel really welcome. Our dogs loved the enclosed garden and the hot tub was just perfect for relaxing. Little touches for us and the pups made it extra special. Thanks for a lovely break!

We stayed just behind Lodge Seventeen, which felt nice and private. The open-plan living area leads straight into the kitchen and its surprisingly roomy. The place is beautifully decorated and fully equipped with everything you could need in the kitchen. The bedroom was a good size, featuring a walk-in wardrobe, bedside tables, a TV and drawers, plus the bathroom was attached - the only one on-site. The bed was incredibly comfy, though at 62, I found it a bit small for two, but it didnt ruin our stay. The hot tub was already heated when we arrived and was well maintained throughout our visit. Wed definitely come back again!

Date of stay: 20th October 2024
We stayed at this lodge recently and loved how spacious and comfy it was. The only hiccup was the shower screen being a bit short, which caused some flooding. Luckily, it was easy to tidy up, so wed definitely come back!

Date of stay: 20th October 2024
We had such a lovely stay at this cosy little spot. The location is truly private and picturesque, perfect for a peaceful break. The owners were super friendly and attentive, always nearby if we needed anything but respecting our privacy completely. The hot tub was a real highlight after a long day cycling around. The only thing to bear in mind is that its right under Stansteds flight path, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It took us a couple of hours to get used to it, but honestly, it didnt ruin the holiday at all. Would definitely recommend!
Emma, Ruddington
Date of stay: 16th October 2024
Great staff, always friendly and ready to help out!

Date of stay: 13th October 2024
Given the time of year, we found the lodge to be really good value. We almost left after the first night because our old dog kept slipping on the wooden floors, but we decided to stick with it. Glad we did, because we enjoyed some lovely walks in the stunning surroundings. The parks great for active dogs and hikers, just not quite right for ours right now.
