Worcester Cathedral rises above the River Severn and has been a place of worship for fourteen centuries. The present building was begun in 1084 and is Grade I listed. Inside you will find a Romanesque crypt, a chapter house dating from 1120, medieval misericords and a central tower completed in 1374.

Dudley Zoo & Castle is a 40-acre zoo within the grounds of Dudley Castle, in the Black Country. It opened in 1937 and is run today by a registered charity. The castle ruins share the wooded hillside with the animal enclosures.
Tip: The site is steep, and the car park is barrier-operated with a token needed to exit, so keep that in mind when you arrive.

Anne Hathaway's Cottage in Shottery, just outside Stratford-upon-Avon, is the former farmhouse where Shakespeare's wife-to-be was born and raised. The earliest part dates to 1463, and despite the name it is a twelve-roomed house with visible timber framing and several chimneys. Inside you can see original furniture, including the Hathaway bed, and learn about the family who lived here for 13 generations.
Tip: Pre-booking is recommended. Backpacks are limited and given out first come, first served, so ask for one when you arrive.

A landmark tower on the Cotswolds escarpment, with a rooftop viewing platform, deer park and 200 acres to explore.
Broadway Tower is a Grade II listed, 18th-century tower on Broadway Hill, the second-highest point of the Cotswolds. Designed by James Wyatt and inspired by Capability Brown, it's a castle-style building with battlements, gargoyles and turrets. The top three floors are a museum, and a spiral staircase takes you up to the roof platform for the views.
Tip: Book tickets online in advance, as space is limited. The nuclear bunker tours also need booking through the website.

Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park is a small zoo on the edge of Cannon Hill Park, run by Birmingham City Council. The council describes a collection of animals from across the world, including lemurs, reptiles, meerkats, otters, birds, wallabies and a large collection of monkeys.
Tip: You can turn up and pay at reception, but the council encourages everyone to pre-book online and to have the original confirmation email ready to show, as screenshots and forwarded emails aren't accepted.

Thirty acres of Victorian gardens near Worcester, with walled gardens, lakes and one of the finest peony collections.
Spetchley Park Gardens is a 30-acre garden on the doorstep of Worcester, part of the Berkeley family's estate. It mixes formal, informal and woodland gardens, and very little has changed since Ellen Willmott's day. You can wander walled gardens, a melon yard with its original glasshouses, a Victorian conservatory, a root house, rose gardens, lakes and bridges, plus superb herbaceous borders and fine specimen trees.
Tip: Picnics aren't permitted, so plan to have lunch at the garden café.

Great Lodge, well stocked clean and tidy everything you need for a stay. Only thing I would suggest is a shelf in the shower to put your shampoo and shower on shower.

Lovely holiday, beautiful lodge. I do reccomend the place but there were a few things that could have been better. The lodges werent very private, there wasnt much foliage so people around could clearly see through the windows or onto the deck. The hot tub was great but on the last couple of days, it felt lukewarm and we werent able to adjust the temperature. Just a couple of minor things but overall it was great.
Purchase was cheaper than expected to be honest. Can do monthly or a lumpsum
We stayed at this place during a rainy December and it was perfect-super cosy and warm. The bath was lovely and the shower was big enough for a proper rinse! The house is in a quiet spot, so the nearby flight path didnt bother us at all. Perfect for dogs too, especially if they dislike fireworks. Honestly, a beautiful spot and well converted. The lodge was really clean and spacious, with everything we needed. The site was super peaceful and perfect for relaxing walks. Staff were friendly and the welcome pack was a lovely touch. Only downside was a missing cord in the en suite, but no big deal since it was just us two. Definitely recommend!

We had a lovely stay at this cosy little spot tucked away in a peaceful area. The owners were genuinely friendly and helpful, always nearby but never intrusive, which kept that perfect sense of privacy. The hot tub was a real treat after a long day cycling around. One thing to keep in mind is that the cottage is quite close to Stansteds flight path, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It took us a couple of hours to get used to it, but honestly, it didnt spoil our trip at all. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a quiet getaway!

We had such a lovely stay at Goddard's Mead! Rob and Sharon really put a lot of effort into restoring this historic building and it shows. They welcomed us warmly, along with Bonnie, which made us feel right at home. The location is perfect for exploring Essex - we spent hours wandering around Thaxted and other nearby villages, soaking up the history and charming architecture. Definitely recommend for a relaxing break!
