Fun Days Out in Dorset

Monkey World is not only a local attraction but the work they carry out is amazing.  Rescuing and rehabilitating monkeys and assisting governments around the world to stop the smuggling of primates are just some of the purposes of the centre. You get to see the primates themselves many of which have become famous from appearing on the TV show Monkey World - a documentary about this place. Open year round we think this is one of best attractions in Dorset and you even get the chance to adopt a monkey if you choose.

This family orientated museum is dedicated to Teddy Bears both old and new Edward Bear and his family of people sized bears are one of the main attractions.  You can buy teddy bear gifts from the quaint shop including top notch brands.  The Steiff Teddy Bear and Merrythought bears are very popular.  Open 7 days a week all year round (except 25th and 26th December) this is a perfect all weather place to visit.

The award wining Court Farm Country Park is the ideal all weather attraction with over 25000sq ft of playgrounds and attractions which are all undercover. Come rain or shine this place is perfect for families and children can really let of steam while adults have some time to relax. The site has several large and safe areas for fun and games, a stunning Adventure Castle with slides and ball pools and a range of small fairground rides. There are also educational shows to see including Milking Show and the twice daily Bottle Feeding Show.

Brean Leisure Park in Somerset is the place to head for family fun. The site has over 130 rides and attractions with something for all ages and abilities. Adults and children alike will love the more traditional fairground rides which include waltzes, roller coasters and of course dodgems! Older kids and teenagers on the hunt for white knuckle attractions can try out the terrifying 'XTreme' ride - 130ft of exciting twists turns and drops. For younger children the Canoe River is one of the most popular rides and the whole family can team up to enjoy the Laser Quest. Other facilities at the park include a Snack Bar serving tasty food to go, a Restaurant for a relaxing sit down dinner and an Amusement Arcade with slot machines and video games.

Kingston Maurward Gardens and Animal Park is a magical place to visit with grand gardens and plenty of animals to meet.  From goats and ponies to alpacas and pot bellied pigs this attraction is excellent value for money.  You can feel free to explore the grounds too which are especially lovely on sunny days.  You will see majestic floral displays, stone terraces, a temple and even a lake.

The lodge was lovely, could have done with somewhere closer for the coats, although we didn't need them this trip!

Absolutely stunning lodge. I only knocked one mark off for fittings due to the hand shower in the bathroom not working (it kept flying off the taps) therefore we couldn't have a shower. It hasn't put us off though, the lodge is great.

Definitely one of the best lodges we stayed in. All mod cons. Very spacious. Quiet location. Nice breakfast at Lucys tea rooms which is on the site.
Mrs K
We had a lovely break at Oathill. The log cabins are equipped to a very high standard and are extremely comfortable. From the minute we arrived we were made welcome and nothing was too much trouble, we do hope to visit again soon.
Mrs S
Peaceful location - immaculate accommodation!!
Dr T
Beautiful accommodation, spotlessly clean and modern. Staff helpful and friendly and a nice quiet location.
Ms E
We have taken many short breaks in various locations and this one exceeded our expectations. The accommodation was excellent with many small touches like the child's quilt cover tailored for a boy or girl, the DVD player in the child's bedroom, milk in the fridge on arrival and the exceptionally warm welcome by the owners. The farm was a short drive from the coast and was located in a very peaceful area. The grounds were attractive and safe for young children to play. There was a pets corner, tea rooms and farm shop with local produce. I would recommend this holiday and would certainly stay there again.
Mr B
The holiday was great, wonderful accommodation and very friendly staff.
Miss H
I would definitely recommend this holiday to others. The cabins were an excellent standard - cosy yet very light and spacious and with great facilities. Located in a beautiful part of the country.
Mrs S
The welcome we received was very friendly, we arrived early but called in to the site just to see where it was and to see if the accommodation was ready. We were greeted with a complimentary pot of tea and coffee in the tea rooms and taken to our accommodation when it was ready. The accommodation was lovely and comfortable and of a very high standard. Tea, coffee and milk were already provided in the fridge. The site was clean and well maintained and very peaceful we would definitely go back again.
Mrs D
Great place to stay. Log cabin beautiful, staff really helpful, food at Lucy's tea shop excellent. A great place to chill out in peaceful surroundings. Would go again.
Mr H
On arrival at the park we where greeted by the friendly owners. The accommodation was outstanding, very clean and fitted with all that you would require for your holiday. There are facilities on site such as a small shop incase you have forgotten something, and the owners were polite, happy and always approachable, helping us with such questions as to which beach we could visit to find fossils for our son. They also helped with local information and tips on eating out and places to visit. We will be returning to the park hopefully in 2011, as it is idealy placed for East Devon, West Dorset and Somerset. Also I would like to mention a pub we went to called "The Hunters Lodge" near Lyme Regis, just 9 miles away from the park - excellent food and service, and not just an ordinary pub. Try to get in there early as they fill up quickly, I would highly recommend their fresh local fish dishes, also the lasagne. They are more than happy to cater for children, and our 5 year old loved it there with their happy and cheerful staff. On a whole the holiday was a perfect getaway for our family, and the park was idealy placed for all beaches and shops, I would highly recommend it.
Mrs J
What an absolutely delightful place to stay, the hosts really made us feel welcome and went above and beyond the call of duty. I would recommend to everyone of all ages, the perfect break. Thank you.
