Fun Days Out in Suffolk

Africa Alive is one of Suffolk's largest attractions and one of the most popular in the whole of the UK.  The Africa themed park is very unique and gives visitors the chance to see some amazing creatures in a habitat which is as close to nature as possible. The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.

Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park is an amazing 50 acres area of stunning coastal parkland and is packed with family friendly rides and attractions. This park is an excellent choice for families with children of varied ages as there are a number of small rides for the little ones as well as some adrenaline boosting white knuckle rides for teenagers. As well as rides the site hosts some fantastic shows including the ever popular Sea Lion and Parrot encounters. At Halloween, Christmas and Easter other themed shows can also be enjoyed.  The site also has a good range of places to eat and drink whether you are looking to spend a leisurely hour relaxing with a meal or just grab a quick snack.

Heathside Lodges Reviews

Helen&Peter Parkins
We have just lived in heaven for the last 4 nights and 5 days. A quiet serene secluded site where you are left alone too your own devices with no one bothering you. The lodge has every mod con you can think of and more with a hot tub fed by softened water. Warm and inviting on arrival with your own bath robe and slippers too match as well as your own individual shower and bath as a couple. The proprieters' of Heathside Lodge have nailed it big time so get your spot booked now because like Wimbledon there will be a long waiting list soon.

Absolutely stunning. Very spacious and beautifully bare in decoration. The kitchen was well equipped with enough utensils and space for me to cook meals for 8 as we spread over two lodges. The ensuite in the master bedroom is the same size as the main bathroom - huge! Hot tub was lovely and warm and we enjoyed it even when the temperature wasn't great outside. The only 1 thing I would say is the hot tub definitely wont fit 6. Probably only 4 realistically as the water level will rise too much. This wasn't really a problem for us as we only had 4 in each lodge but if there are 6 people you'll have to take turns!

A beautiful, peaceful situated lodge. Everything you need is there. We used the jucuzzi both day and night, such a relaxing way to spend your time soaking in bubbles looking at the countryside in the day or the stars at night. I really liked and appreciated that you don't park your car next to/outside your lodge. It stops all the banging of car doors and shining of headlights when people come and go. To be honest we never heard any cars at all! There is a lot of space inside the lodge, we loved it, we went in October for 7 nights so appreciated the underfloor heating, we never felt cold. I really liked that there was no clutter, no silly pictures or ornaments, clean, neat and peaceful. We loved it and will be back

This was my first time away with my kids. Wasnt expecting it to be as nice as the pictures but it was actually nicer. Saw reviews on the hot tubs saying they were too small but us 3 adults and 2 kids fitted in fine! Staff were very friendly, on site shop was handy and very cheap. The lodge its self was massive and had plenty room. Lots of towels and very modern furnishings. Will definitely be back, hopefully for a longer period! My only thing that I would say could be improved is the door locks on the inside are twist and unlock and when you have an escapee artist son like mine its not very handy. Apart from that 10/10!

I needed peace and quiet and a place to relax and I got it. Worth every penny. The site shop was brilliant not your typical captive audience shop. Lots of bargains nothing over priced. The owners and staff were lovely, the lodge was beautiful and spacious, no clutter with underfloor heating and the private jucuzzi was beautiful. A visit worth while if you drive out is Southwold Pier truly stunning, great pubs with great food! We loved our stay and will be back.
Caroline
We had a lovely weekend away. Great location, local pub was good and Southwold is a short drive away. It's our second visit and we will be staying again the next time we need a well earned break!
Stephen
A four day break in indifferent weather. Easy to check in and unload, helpful & friendly welcome and guide to the lodge. All very clean and welcoming. Hot tub was monitored daily, and was excellent! Spacious grounds, including a surprisingly good 'nature trail'. First class shop, open all day, used by locals too - good prices & helpful staff, and a good range of items - you could manage buying from here only if you wished-local suppliers for such as bread etc. Overall, seemed well cared fo, and good value.(Our lodge was only 4 weeks old!)
Lynn
Just love this place and the area. Do need transport to get around.
Rachel
We were greeted by the owner who was very friendly. She talked us through our lodge, how to use the hot tub, the local pubs, places to eat and things to do. I would definitely recommend it. The location was close to the beach and other activities and the facilities were as described. The lodges looked new and even has a fresh wood smell. Fantastic weekend away, thanks.
Martin
Nice place to stay, a bit remote.
Suzanne
We had a lovely relaxing time. Its a beautiful spot and a stunning part of the country. The lodges are toasty warm and the beds are comfy. Most of the things we needed were provided, our only issue was as it was chilly outside we sat inside mostly and the sofa wasn't that spacious for the two of us for long. But its a minor thing and we most definitely recommend a stay. The food at the Queens Head in Blyford was superb...wish we had found it at the start of our stay
Hettie
We visited Heathside Lodges for the sixth time. And we still love it.
Stephen
Booked a 5 day break. The lodge and hot tub were excellent. The park is pristine and the staff were fantastic. My only complaint would be the local area, althiugh is very picturesque does not have alot to do. We had to travel to great yarmouth to enjoy the seaside feel. However this would not stop me from recommending the park and I am looking forward to returning soon.
Jessica
Absolutely beautiful, relaxing and quiet getaway. Plenty of room in the 6 sleeper lodges which were well equipped and very luxurious. Hot tub was lovely and warm and very enjoyable even at the end of October. The surroundings are lovely with lots of space for families to play outside as well quiet walks. Small shop on site which had a range of goods at reasonable prices. Stayed with female family for a girly getaway but will definitely return with my young family soon.
