Woodland Lakes Lodges

These luxury lodges offer the perfect retreat for those seeking a break away in a relaxed and picturesque environment just a short drive from the bustling market town of Thirsk and city of York nestled on the doorstep of the North Yorkshire Moors.

As the name would suggest the lodges have been designed around impressive and well stocked pleasure and match fishing lakes catering for all ages and abilities. There is a superb contemporary bar and restaurant.

There is also plenty to see and do in the local area with cathedral cities of York and Ripon both within easy reach. If its a day on the coast you're looking for then the popular resorts of Scarborough and Whitby can be reached in just over an hour taking in some of the most breathtaking scenery and picture postcard villages en route.  Fun family days out in this region include the fantastic Lightwater Valley theme park in Ripon just 7 miles from the park and Monk Park Farm which is great fun for younger children.

The accommodation is both luxurious and stylish. All of the lodges come with a private outdoor hot tub apart from the Chestnut and the Alder Lodge.  A hot tub is the ultimate way to relax and unwind after a busy day.  We love the Chestnut Lodge VIP for couples with a contemporary living area and one double bedroom.  For families and groups then the Birch Lodge is ideal.  This lodge was new in 2009 and provides stylish living space with a balcony and amazing views.  All of the accommodation comes with flatscreen TV and DVD.

Date of stay: 6th April 2018
We had a fab week relaxing. The lodge needs some work. The shower was falling apart the doors didnt close.
The kitchen was a bit dirty especially round the cooker and extractor fan was missing the filter it worked just looked unsightly.
Our patio door handle was broken and had been fitted with two bolts instead.
Over all it was lovely we enjoyed our stay and we would return.
Yvonne, Hull

Lovely large well equipped lodge, fantastic views over the water but lacked a little tlc with the cleanliness, skirting boards really dusty and windows needed cleaning to see through them properly, comfortable beds and lovely clean linen. Quiet and relaxing.

Date of stay: 16th February 2018
We had a fantastic break at the woodlands. 2 Adults 2 kids (2 and 6) plus a puppy. The lodge was brilliant, with modern decor throughout, and the grounds are lovely. We walked our puppy numerous times of the day and she loved it also. The staff are really helpful. We asked for a bed to be removed to allow us to fit a travel cot in, which was removed instantly. We noticed that there wasn't a DVD player, so on our way our in the afternoon of the day we arrived I asked the reception and a DVD player was put in prior to our return. We ate at the Vale of York pub just up the road, and the food was brilliant and bar maid and locals were very friendly and dogs were allowed. We visited York one day, which took about 30 mins to the park and ride, which I must recommend. We visited Ripon market and Harrogate on another day. Overall we had a brilliant stay, and we will be looking to book again for the same time next year.
Lisa, Derbyshire

Date of stay: 31st January 2018
Could not check in until 4pm. It did say this on booking confirmation but I never read that part until I was rung by staff telling us for extra money we could check in at 2pm. How sneaky is that? If you cant go in until 4pm it makes it a short first stay day. We actually did pay the extra for this reason but I have never checked in as late anywhere ever as late as 4pm.

The Hot tub was warm but not hot until the 2nd day and there fore unusable in January. Again this was stated on the booking details when I read it thoroughly after the above incident. But as we had only booked 2 night we were really dissappointed.

The lodge its self was beautiful and well serviced and it is such a shame the 2 above mentioned issues blighted our stay.
Smith, Denton, Manchester
Date of stay: 29th January 2018

Would definitely go again had a great break, lovely clean lodge hot tub was great just a short drive to Thirsk
Jodie, Newcastle
Date of stay: 17th January 2018
Lovely lodge with lake view scenery. Hot tub was a beautiful addition.

I feel that the check in is very late and check out very early. So our two day stay was not really two day. It felt like a day and a half. I did try to contact the out of hours number on one occasion and never got a response at all. It wasn't an emergency so never visited the resident lodge directly.

I would still recommend and stay again myself. I just feel that I would need to pay the early check in and late check out fees to feel I've actually gotten most of my two day stay.
Louise, Barnsley
Date of stay: 15th January 2018
Great extended weekend. Lodge was spacious and the photos did not do it justice.
Lee, Whitehaven
Date of stay: 10th January 2018
Bed was very firm which resulted in me having a bad back when leaving. This was the only problem as everything else was perfect.
Angie, Rotherham

This was the 4th time we stopped here , we havnt stopped in this lodge before it was lovely but tired , the shower doors were not put on properly so we put them on ourselves and the back door didnt lock. On the plus side the hot tub was lovely .

Date of stay: 1st September 2017
The waterside lodge was beautiful. This relaxing setting was the best therapy for me and my family. I took my mum, fiance, daughter, son and Gatsby the dog. We all loved it and found ourselves away from the stresses of every day life, in the beautiful countryside. I am normally a person who has to go on a plane to have a holiday but this has totally changed my thinking! Wow ........ who knew??

I hope we can come back again and I will be looking at other log cabin experiences, as this was a real log cabin.
Date of stay: 1st September 2017
The lodge was beautiful but did need a small amount of maintenance, this didn't effect our stay. Some settees were a little worn and one of the headboards broken this was reported but as I explained this didn't effect the holiday and we were happy to just report the little faults
Caroline, Warrington

Date of stay: 25th August 2017
As it was a VIP lodge and expensive, it wasn't 100% we've noticed a few problems since our first VIP lodge but to be fair the staff have been helpful and tried to remedy things apart from the towelling robes! The beds are comfortable, bedding sparkling clean as well as the towels. The Lakes and surroundings are beautiful, especially the courtyard of the restaurant, which has a well stocked pond with a little bridge going over, it really is lovely.
Jayne, Chesterfield
Date of stay: 18th August 2017

Lodge was clean and well kept. Had an enjoyable stay. Good value for money. Great hot tub.

Things to be improved:
Light out in the kitchen
Broken hob
Light out in extractor fan
Not clear that there was no oven
Would be better if Wi-Fi was available in the lodge, as no signal in the local area

There were a couple of things missing from the lodge since we were last there, a BBQ outside (we took meats) and in the kitchen a grill pan and short a peeling/paring knife, but we managed. It didn't detract from the holiday, but hence the 9/10

Paula, Cullen
Date of stay: 16th June 2017
Lodge was lovely and clean, no bathrobes in masterbedroom, no bedside lights in master either. Shower was terrible, flooded bathroom after every use. 1 leather settee in living room was tatty. Hot tub was clean but loads of hairs in it, not ours I might add.
Dawn, Hartlepool

Date of stay: 27th May 2017
The fridge needs replacing in 11b ,as freezers freezes fridge food .and as self catering you need a good fridge.also cooker needs to have institutions as was very competitive. But the staff showded us how to use it and we figgered it out.but overall lodge was good clean and what you needed for your stay .
Date of stay: 26th May 2017
The only downside was, no instructions on how to work the cooker/microwave was a bit baffled as the sun was shining straight through door onto cooker panel, other than that it was brill.
Sarah, Seaham
Date of stay: 26th May 2017
Lodge very clean inside and located over looking the lake! Perfect. Only down fall was the outside could have been cleaned down from time to time as around the windows, doors and spindles on the balcony had a lot of spiders and webs.

Anthony, Tynemouth
Date of stay: 22nd May 2017
Great Weekend away with the family and our two dogs!

Lodge was immaculate, plenty of room for us all & a 5 minute drive into Thirsk.

The only negative was that the site was not very dog friendly. The decking area was not closed off by a gate so we were unable to let them out onto the decking when we were in the hot tub. There wasn't anywhere to let them have a run so we had to keep them on their leads all weekend. Also the restaurant was not dog friendly so we were unable to visit. We did ask at reception if there was a field where we could take the dogs and she suggested the farmers field next to the site but said her dog was bitten by a tick in the field so we didn't want to risk it!

A lovely lodge just wouldn't come back with our dogs.

We stayed in 20a chestnut lodge isnt a single cabin it as a locked door inbetween another cabin wall are quick thin but wasnt much of an issue. Hottub was nice and warm when we arrived which was nice. The cooker isnt easy to work couldnt figure it out but we eat out anyway. Also turn your fridge down as soon as you get there as everything with put in ours frozen.
There is a £50 deposit when you arrive but you get it back as soon as you hand keys back.
Clifford, Lancashire
Date of stay: 21st April 2017
The cabins are quite clean and as warm as you wish, the shower is brilliant for that quick invigorating morning wash and the 2 baths available for a longer relaxing soak.
The pull out sofa bed was faulty and not comfortable (No.14) but this is the only real fault that affected our stay.
Overall the cabins are very good.

A wood cladded caravan, double width with patio doors opening out onto a decking area that extended over an ornamental lake, with ducklings for company! Gorgeous!
A very well clean and smart caravan, well spaced away from other vans, and with close by parking. The hot tub was at the side and could be seen by passers by, but we took a gazebo for privacy, although we were at a remoter side of the lake so not many passers by to worry about, so probably not necessary, but it did keep the wind from the lake away on cold April mornings/evenings!

Date of stay: 14th April 2017
Great lodge, home from home. Could have done with a few extra towels for use outside with hot tub rather than same ones for bathroom, wasn't massive issue just bought a few beach towels from local supermarket

Date of stay: 6th March 2017
This was our 3rd visit and we've loved it every time. Very high standard lodges. The welcome pack is great too with milk, bread, cloths, dishwasher tablets etc. As well as the dressing gowns and slippers, you could literally just turn up with your swimming costume if you wanted! I love how it's a 'proper' kitchen with proper cooker etc. So that we can easily cook meals.

Surrounding area is gorgeous and peaceful.
We love the lodges on the lake. It's lovely sitting out on a night. Staff are always very nice and pleasent. I recommend this place to all of my friends and family.

Can't wait to go back!

Lodge was cleaned to a high standard andelivery was equipped with everything we needed for a short break. We didn't get the robes or welcome pack which was advertised, but didn't see this as a major concern, however if advertised it should be provided.

The only issue we had with the lodge itself was the spiders, which of course can't really be helped but being petrified of spiders it made it a little difficult leaving windows open.
Caroline, Wirral
Date of stay: 16th September 2016
Absolutly Spotless, I know they're supposed to be but on some sites it's not always 100% and I usually feel the need to clean something ( I'm a bit odd that way)
I loved that they had provided a loaf and a pint of milk, and the olive oil and condiments , I had indeed forgotten cooking oil and coffee. And the welcome pack of kitchen cleaning essentials, how thoughtful, I was well trained by mum to remember these things but not everyone does and as there is no shop as such in walking distance it is a very welcome gesture.
The towels were like hotel ones set out beautifully on the end of the bed ( with the snuggliest duvet, you are not going to get cold with this beast) the walk in wardrobe and, in our opinion, a huge bath room and an on suite in the double bedroom. Full size fridge freezer, masses of storage space and a double bed you could actually walk around.
We could pick up most but not all the TV channels but you're on holiday, you're not supposed to be watching TV all the time.
The hot tub was a new thing for us and we used it loads, it was fantastic, it comes with all the instructions and you can ring the office if you have a problem, they also check it every day as well. The visitors book on the table is a fun read as some people complained about the odd spider and the weather ! You are in the countryside, you get the odd spider and yes sometimes it rains, leave the spiders alone they don't go running around, honestly, we made friends with a few and I'm not keen on them, and if it rains.... get in the hot tub ; D the ducks are great entertainment, look out for Daisy with one leg. Couldn't fault it and would ask for the same lodge again. Well done you guys : D

Put gates on back of chesnut vip lodges as they are dog friendly and cannot let dog run ( had to on a lead constantly outside)

Date of stay: 2nd September 2016
Came here for 4 nights in August. It was a lovely place to go and stay. Everything was private for your surroundings in the cabin that we stayed in. Lovely surprise of bread, milk, tea etc. Location wise, lovely place nothing much around. About a 10 minute drive from Thirsk town center and Tesco. We went to the restaurant on the last night and the food was delicious. The only thing that let this place down is that there isn't a lot to do on sight. We would go back again for sure either as a couple or with friends. The value for money was exceptional.
Charlene, South Hetton

Great log cabin, we upgraded to the alder 3 which was so much better and loads more room fantastic
June, Knaresborough
Date of stay: 2nd September 2016
We stayed in the new Alder VIP with a large verandah over a lake and all on one level which was great for my husband who was recovering from spinal surgery. It was excellent, well equipped and modern, beds were comfortable.

We were very lucky with the weather, but one of the downsides was no umbrella, although there was a hole for one in the bench, so at times it was too hot to sit outside for myself and my little great granddaughter. We went fishing 2 days and really enjoyed it.

Overall it was a lovely break and we would recommend it. We will definitely be going in the future. My family will want to come again too as they loved the hot tub!
Sarah, Cheshire
Date of stay: 29th August 2016
We have stayed here a few times now (previous owners too) and enjoy every time. Good location surrounded by lakes attracting the wildlife, close to pubs, a couple of restaurants, Tesco, Thirsk racecourse and the railway if you want to head into York (or surrounding areas)

A great place for an escape and relaxation.

A couple of teething problems to start (bulbs etc...) which were sorted straight away.

Cabin and hot tub was beautiful and being able to take our little dog was an added bonus.

Would definitely recommend for a peaceful, romantic break, that said there are cabins that cater for families now too.

Date of stay: 15th August 2016
Only thing negative was two singles duvans pushed together to make a king size bed in the master bedroom. .. and a few more items required in the kitchen...I. e jug, mixing bowls, roasting tins, trays extra.

We stayed in the alder 3 vip lodge on arrival I was taken back at how luxurious this accommodation was . The lodge was very clean and tidy and was like home form home. Plenty of space and plenty of cooking utensils . The hot tub was very clean and at the right temperature on arrival. I could not fault any part of this holiday.

Date of stay: 22nd July 2016
The last time we visited we stayed in one of the log cabins with decking, it was not the one pictured on this review.
It was like a caravan but instead of tin it was made out of wood
It was very nice and had a hot tub too
It was located opposite one of the 13 lakes on the site
The lakes contain fish and you are able to fish there if you like
There are also ducks and geese which love to be fed and are friendly
All in all very nice place to relax and unwind

Jennifer, Newcastle
Date of stay: 20th June 2016
Lovely stay! Would recommend and stay again, we actually come to stay off a friends recommendation.

Only issues were that maybe a bigger shop on site would be good, and out lodge was starting to show signs or wear and tear. We stayed in 3B Chestnut; the shower really needed updating, door was broken and radio/jet system etc. Not all the jets on our hot tub were working either. One of the dressing gowns we had also had a large hole in!

Site was beautiful, lodge was comfy and quiet, kitchen lovely and the bread and milk was a nice touch. Staff really helpful and we loved all the cats roaming about!

Oh, a net to clean the hot tub would be good as ours was covered by a lot of trees so there was a lot of leaves falling in all the time, after a few days it looked quite bad!
Victoria, Cheshire
Date of stay: 17th June 2016
Had a great time whilst there! Lovely location close to lots of attractions, cabin was lovely and loved the hot tub! Stayed 3 time before and had a lovely time on all occasions. However on arriving back home realised we had left a pair of expensive jeans behind, phoned up twice an staff not helpful just stated they were not in the lost property even though we know we left them behind, upset by lack of help! This has totally put us off coming back!
Vanessa, Gloucester
Date of stay: 13th June 2016
Lodge was like new, thought it was quite expensive for a weekend. Hot tub was clean and also like new. Lots of kitchen equipment and a large fridge/freezer. Shower didn't work on arrival but this was quickly fixed by the on site maintenance man.
Jennifer, Rotherham
Date of stay: 13th June 2016
The bed in the living area was very difficult to put up and not very comfortable .the fridge stopped working just after arrival
Date of stay: 10th June 2016
There were a few fittings damaged- eg fridge freezer drawers cracked and a cracked sliding wardrobe mirror- this didn't bother us - we were just concerned that we may get blamed for the damage so we noted it and reported to the office immediately which the staff happily took on board .
Accomadation very comfortable -
Amazing place to stay... Can not wait to return.
Carol, Houghton Le Spring
Date of stay: 10th June 2016
Mattress in master bedroom not confortable. Had to avoid the springs.
Date of stay: 3rd June 2016
Hot tub was amazing, shower was fantastic only issue was the number of stray cats which was sad to see as they were starving. Overall this didn't really ruin the trip but it could for other people.
Thomas, Derby
Date of stay: 3rd June 2016
Lodge was lovely and homely, facilities within the lodge are very good (oven is a little complicated to use) hot tub was great, there was a little bit of broken glass at side of tub but was hidden by the decking so may not have been seen by cleaners when checking. Would highly recommend woodland lakes lodges and the Chestnut VIP and will be returning in the future

There was no plug in the sink and the towel holder in the bathroom was broken,

when reported to reception was told they did not do plugs, and they would send

someone out to fix the towel holder, no one came.
Steven, Bedlington
Date of stay: 2nd May 2016
We were informed of certain damages to the property prior to our stay.
We were given a reasonable monetary discount due to the fact that the damages could not be repaired for our arrival.

Within minutes of stepping inside we noticed several more items damaged , missing and broken. Photographs were taken of the additional items and the evidence was presented to reception staff.
What should have been a nice quiet weekend was spoilt by 2 families further down the lake. They were having a late night noisy party and thought it was hilarious to openly urinate into the pond.

Date of stay: 25th March 2016
The willow property was excellent and very comfortable. The site was nice and well kept. We really enjoyed having the hot tub (as the hot tubs as emptied before new guests arrived it was too cold to use the first night. We did not use the bar or restaurant.
Only criticism is the booking in on arrival. The earliest arrival time (unless you wish to pay extra to arrive early) is 4pm. This results in everyone arriving at this time and a massive queue developing. As there is only one person on reception booking in takes ages
Laura, Stockton On Tees
Date of stay: 21st March 2016
Lovely lodge which had all amenities, hot tub was an added luxury which we enjoyed
Katie, Sheffield
Date of stay: 21st March 2016
Great little get away, it's a shame that there isn't more to do on site or around the local area. Would be nice if hot tubs were fully enclosed as you could be seen by people passing by. Don't know if we would return to this site because of this, be nice to try somewhere new with possible entertainment. Overall it was clean and well presented.

Date of stay: 30th October 2015
The lodge was fantastic, with literally everything you needed, microwave, fridge/freezer etc. We had bathrobes and slippers for the hot tub left in our rooms which was great, and also bread, milk.

Next time I would choose accommodation with the built in roof over the hot tubs in case of rain. The hot tub was amazing and we made full use of it everyday - even though it was freezing outside.

I would recommend Woodland Lakes Lodges and cant wait to go back again.
Ann, Armadale

The lodge was beautiful and lovely and clean. The hot tub was the perfect temperature for the week we were there and we made use of it at all times of the day. Date of stay: 14th September 2015
Looked lovely when first walked it, I was very pleased, the twin beds were not very comfortable for my parents in law, but it was a caravan and as such, very typical. Everything needed was supplied in kitchen, and you can hire dressing gowns if you need th for the hot tub.
Rebecca, Doncaster
Date of stay: 14th September 2015
Lovely would do with the hot tub being enclosed more
Ian, Wrexham
Date of stay: 14th August 2015
The lodge was great in size but could benefit from a make over. The windows seems really dirty one the sun was shining but apart from that they were well equipped and suited us - Hot Tub was fantastic and maintained by the staff on a daily basis.

In summary a great location for that quiet and relaxing time..............carvery was also top notch but is a very busy local attraction so book early to avoid disappointment.
Sandra, Chorley
Date of stay: 10th August 2015
The cleaning could have been better as I had to get a brush and sweep the balcony but after saying that my husband told Trevor and he told the cleaners off and gave me a bottle of wine for my trouble .so he was very attentive to our complaint .
Josh, Newark
Date of stay: 7th August 2015
lots of little extras made the stay more comfortable. A perfect base for visiting north Yorkshire.

Date of stay: 3rd August 2015
The lodge was beautiful and and fantastic for our family, with ages ranging from 2 to 80. We were very comfortable and all our needs catered for.
Andrew, Middlesbrough
Date of stay: 31st July 2015
Lodges have everything you need, two baths upstairs and a shower downstairs. Bedrooms were large and the pull out sofa bed was comfy. The kitchen is well equipped and best till last the hot tub is a fantastic extra. Only downside is no phone signal or wifi but to some people that might be a bonus not my teenage daughter ;-)

Date of stay: 29th June 2015
Very relaxing - great location - but be aware the bedroom windows don't open - luckily it was a pleasant but not overly hot week - but the following week was a scorcher and it would have been stifling in there.
Otherwise the lodge felt luxurious and the hot tub is a lovely way to relax.
Derek, Middlesbrough

A lovely place to stay, very well furnished and comfortable. It would have been a 10 had it not been for the dog hair absolutely all over the floor. There should be some cabins in which dogs are not allowed for this reason.
Amanda, Saltburn

Date of stay: 20th April 2015
Few bits and bobs inside that could be updated, broken kitchen utensils, arm of sofa well and truly done in, and missing game pieces! Not enough to ruin your holiday, but enough to notice! Could do with a little run over and update on some things!
Beverly, Sunderland
Date of stay: 20th April 2015
Superb relaxing stay for me and my fiance at woodland lakes. Staff were fab, helpful and friendly. Lodge was very homely with good facilities. Beds were clean and comfortable and the little extras were a nice touch, especially the cooking oil and wonderful fresh bread which we were given at check in. The hot tub was fabulous and serviced daily. We ate at the restaurant on the Sunday and opted for the car very which was very nice. We found the drinks to be reasonably priced in the restaurant too. All in all a we had a very relaxing time and are looking forward to our next stay.
Antony, Stoke-on-trent
Date of stay: 17th April 2015
The lodge, we stayed in, was adequately furnished, within easy access of the car park and quiet. The hot tub was private and well maintained and the kitchen equipment and cooking facilities were adequate for either snacks or larger meals.
Ewan, Perth
Date of stay: 13th April 2015
Clean and comfortable lodge
Philip, Stewartby
Date of stay: 10th April 2015
Excellent , not quite as spacious as other cabins but very clean and fresh. Everything you could need for a week away, if you like a bath instead of shower this particular cabin wouldn't be for you. Worked well for us as we enjoyed the hot tub. If you have little ones that don't like showers then this could be an issue I guess. Decking area very nice and good to see it gated to stop little ones going further a field.

Would definitely recommend

Very impressed with the standards of the lodge ......only down side was the cost of WIFI......
Had to go to the cafe/restaurant for free Use.
In the Summer months I would imagine the resort to be even more amazing. April is still Winter weather but Spring flowers made the place feel and look wonderful.
K, Hartlepool

Peter, Wigan
Date of stay: 23rd February 2015
The Lodge was spotlessly clean and probably the best we have ever been in, rooms very large and kitchen well equipped. The Hot tub was a good size and was working all through our holiday. Beautiful view out of the large double-glazed windows over the pond with fountain, very peaceful and quiet.
Rachel, Ilkley
Date of stay: 20th February 2015
it was all just stunning , facilities amazing
only reason for a 9 is that the washing machine broke in lodge 14 and leaked all over the floor
mentioned this , but never got fixed
Trish, Derbyshire
Date of stay: 20th February 2015
Lodge was best we had stayed in. Furniture seemed new if not very clean. Two bedrooms and two bathroom always a bonus. Hot tub was lovely and all jets works which at previous parks was an issue. The shower broke which was fixed with out question prior to us returning.... Again excellent service.
Date of stay: 20th February 2015
The only flaw was that the bed was very creeky and toilet seat was broken.

Simone, Hartlepool
Date of stay: 9th February 2015
My villa was amazing! Perfect for a couple! I particularly loved the shower the way it had its own radio and different settings! Our villa was more on the outside of the resort top so I felt very comfortable in the hottub as we were well out the way.

Great little lodge with everything you need. Hot tub ready on arrival.
Date of stay: 26th January 2015
The lodges are fantastic excellent standard and everything you need for a comfortable stay. The only criticism is a shop on site would be handy.
Date of stay: 26th January 2015

Date of stay: 26th January 2015
No issues with cleanliness but our lodge did have a peculiar aroma!!
As mentioned in previous reviews sofa's sunk a little!! but bed very comfortable.
Nice touch being provided with fresh baked bread and milk on arrival.

Date of stay: 23rd January 2015
We got upgraded from a chesnut lodge to a detached 2 bedroom lodge
Melissa, Manchester
Date of stay: 23rd January 2015
We were given the option to upgrade to a bigger lodge on our arrival at a reasonable cost. Upon inspection we found that with them, the hot tubs were not at all private and clearly visible to all other guests. The lodge we stayed in however had some fencing around the hot tub and had a lot more privacy!
Date of stay: 16th January 2015
The only tiny downside was that in out particular lodge one of the taps was really stiff and the radio function on the shower had broken. But it was just something noticed, the rest of the lodge was so lovely it didn't really bother us at all.
James, Sheffield
Date of stay: 12th January 2015
The cabin was very homley & nice to curl up on the sofa while I could see my partner in our private hot tub!
Date of stay: 12th January 2015
Everything was great, the only issue with the lodge was that because of the wind it meant every day the fountain was blowing quite strongly towards us. Obviously not an issue while were inside but got annoying while in the not tub. I would defiantly come again but choose to stay in a different lodge.
Date of stay: 9th January 2015
The lodge was spotless on arrival, absolutely beautiful setting. Hot tub was perfect. I can not explain how fantastic the lodge was and how relaxed the whole atmosphere is. My partner and I are already looking at when we can book again.
Pamela, Ellesmere Port Cheshire

The only negative in this lodge is the high levels of noise heard by the neighbouring lodge, possibly due to the adjoining door between the two lodges.

Natalie, Wigan
Date of stay: 1st December 2014
A little pricey but it was a lovely place to stay.
Disappointed that our lodge was very over looked - everyone walking to the car park/cafe/restaurant could see our decking area, no privacy for hot tub - would be better round the back.
Would have been nice to have car access - particularly for unloading and loading.
Not bath lovers so would recommend putting a shower upstairs.
We also had a lodge that allowed pets - took our dog and there needed to be a fenced off area so the dog did not have to be put on the lead every time he needed to toilet.
Stacey, Carlton Miniott
Date of stay: 1st December 2014
the only comment that I would make is the springs in the sofa had gone in one of the larger sofa so we all had to go on one sofa which was abit cramped apart from that it was perfect
Donna, Barnsley
Date of stay: 1st December 2014
Really nothing to complain about, helpful friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you. Availability of early & late check in/out & the owners Karen & Trevor were great!

Nice lodge not as nice as the 2 storey log cabins but nice all the same.
Nice owner I helped him net a couple of fish on one of the many pleasure lakes you can fish on. My five year loved fishing and the hot tub we couldn't get him out of it. Would defo go again

David, Whitehaven
Date of stay: 10th October 2014
The furniture and fittings very good, ONLY notices for you are :-
1/ The bed in the main bedroom (lodge 17) was very squeaky
2/ The shower in the downstairs cloakroom was not enticing to use.
3/ The sofa bed could have done with some further padding on the seat as it 'gave' a bit too much when you sat on it.
No other complaints and these are not really complaints just points to note
John, Seaham
Date of stay: 10th October 2014

My husband and I had a wonderful weekend break at Woodland lodges. We found the place really peaceful not far from a town to get supplies or go out for dinner, easy access to visit York and other places nearby. The lady in reception was helpful on places to visit and our information pack had plenty of advice. The only small moan I have is guests must wash up and put away plates cutlery etc before leaving the lodge which we had no problem with doing but sadly perhaps the cleaners don't always check things are clean as we took the pans out Saturday morning to cook breakfast and two of them were covered in grease so we had to give them a good soak. Apart from that everything else was lovely.
Penny, Creswell

PLEASE improve the lighting at night along footpaths. It is very very difficult to safely find access to your accommodation. Lodge numbers could be illuminated too

Possibly would have been useful to have access to laundry facilities - washing machine and dryer.
Carla, Croydon
Date of stay: 29th August 2014
Would be a good idea to have some loungers on the verandas as we couldnt fit around the bench (we are a tall family!!). We used the dining chairs to sit on.
Barry, Hull

It would be a good idea to have a small secure outbuilding on/next to each lodge to store fishing tackle etc.
Sharon, Sheffield
Date of stay: 22nd August 2014
Slight problem with a dishwasher that wasn't working. Staff could not have been more helpful if they tried. Would certainly look forward to a holiday if I knew that the accommodation was of the same standard
Michael, Worksop
Date of stay: 22nd August 2014
The Woodland Lakes Lodges were an ideal place to use as a base to explore the surroundings. Plenty of nearby National Trust properties as well as easy access to the coast and York.
The onsite restaurant provided an excellent carvery for Sunday lunch and the staff at the site were extremely helpful.
The hot tub (a surprise as it had only been installed the week before) was brilliant and an excellent addition to a very well appointed lodge.
I'd highly recommend the site and we would have no hesitation in staying there again.
Steven, Manchester
Date of stay: 18th August 2014
Carpet had dog hairs on but nothing much to worry about.

Tap in en-suite was broken so all had to use main bathroom for washing hands / brushing teeth etc.
Suzanne, Rochdale
Date of stay: 18th August 2014
cleaning needs improving, place mats all stuck together, stains on leather suite, disgusting down side of fridge, old stain on bedding, cob webs in the bathroom, which had been there for quite some time, which housed spiders!
Hot tub needs wind braker, Very unpleasant sat in tub with wind blowing, chlorine water blowing in your eyes!! Would have used much more if it had one. 50th birthday, no balloon, card or any greetings! Needs a few special touches for special occasions. Equipment missing from kitchen, 3 wine glasses for 4 adults, no scissors, can opener, bottle opener, or cork screw. But when you ask for equipment you can get it from friendly staff. I thought it was very expensive for a 3 night break, as its only like a static caravan inside.
June, Knaresborough
Date of stay: 15th August 2014
I gave 7 for furniture and fittings, because there was a shelf missing in the fridge, the frying pan was unusable and there were stains on two of the cushions.
Christine, Liverpool
Date of stay: 8th August 2014
the only reason for the 5 was the outside bench set i thought it was very unstable and we fell a few times
the furniture inside was 10/10
Andrea, Lesmahagow

Bedrooms lacked a full length mirror for getting dressed
Angela, Burton-on-trent
Date of stay: 11th July 2014
There were one or two little issues which we told the park about - light bulbs fused - 2 in the dining area, 1 in the lounge and most importantly the one in the bedside lamp, so we were unable to read in bed. Therew were cigarette butts on the verandah upstairs - obviously left by previous occupants - mouldy bin in the kitchen - just little niggles that we were able to right ourselves, but we should not have had to do that after paying as much as we did. Otherwise the accommodation was 1st class as also was the location. The pub on site was good, the food very good value for money and the staff were extremely friendly. We would recommend Woodland Lake Lodges and will come back again.
Ross, West Lothian
Date of stay: 11th July 2014
Lodge was very plush. Excellent appliances and welcome pack was brilliant. Fresh bread, milk in the fridge and a cuppa on arrival. Excellent!
Date of stay: 7th July 2014
This short weekend was a special rate which was definatly a 10 for value. We would not have paid the initial cost for this lodge which we don't find is value for money.

Fab holiday thoroughly enjoyed the only down side was the dogs that live on the site I noticed them fouling and no one cleaning it up. I had brought my puppy who had not had her second set of injections so it was quite alarming when walking her by our lodge and finding dog dirt but apart from that it was fab lodges were immaculate inside and very very clean
Nicola, Mansfield
Date of stay: 31st March 2014
Windows were not cleaned prior to arrival.
Beautiful place to stay our 3rd time will be back again l.
Had a fabulous weekend, accommodation was immaculate, had 1 slight problem with the shower but after reporting it was sorted within 20 mins, can not get better than that
Me and my partner stayed here for a long weekend at the end of April and it was absolutely gorgeous!! Everything from the lodge, to the staff, and the site itself was just fabulous. On arriving the staff at reception were so lovely and very helpful. Going in to our lodge we were absolutely blown away. The way the lodge is set out, the decor, everything is just gorgeous!! We even got a welcome pack with washing up liquid and sponges, bin bags, even a free bottle of milk and fresh bread!! The value for money in this place is just amazing. It was the best relaxing lodge holiday we have ever had. The hot tub was gorgeous and even though we were only there for 3 nights it felt like so much longer. The only slight downside is that if you wish to explore the surrounding area you have to drive, therefore can’t have an alcoholic drink while you’re out but that didn’t really affect our holiday as we just enjoyed a drink in the lodge. We will definitely be returning.
Really enjoyed our stay, had everything we could have needed. Will definitely be returning!
We had a fantastic weekend. Beautiful area, lodges well looked after.
The holiday was fantastic and i have to say the manager Mark was extremely helpful. I would highly recommend and will be returning.
Lovely lodges, well equipped, very relaxing weekend
2nd visit, loved the lodge, the lakes and facilities and the staff were great. Def recommend to others and planning on returning!
Fantastic little get away for me and my boyfriend to just relax! It was perfect for this and not too far from different day trips out! I'll be bringing my family next time!
Lovely site, with lakes surrounding it well signed for a quick walk while you're they're. North Yorkshire moors pretty close too (driving) and even whitby at just over an hour. The lodge was modern and we'll equipped - I have to mention we didn't have a microwave though. The hot tub was great and a good size and was very private despite the lodges being side by side. The shower had jets and multiple settings and a built in radio which was something special too.
Very warm lodge on a cold day hot tub relaxing
