Where's Thanet Well Lodge Retreat?
Mr Swindlehurst
One of the best accommodations I have ever stayed in, the grounds were lovely, the views were great and not to far from the lakes. It is a great please to stop at and to use as your base for exploring the Lake District or just to use as a retreat to get away from it all and just kick off your shoes & relax.

Date of stay: 22nd June 2018
The lodge was well equipped, clean and comfortable. There were a couple of minor niggles, misting in window panel and a broken cupboard door bolt, but nothing to complain about. The park is ideally located to explore the area and has superb views across the hills.
Lack of phone signal meant it really was a retreat.
George, Gourock

Date of stay: 8th June 2018
Lovely, spacious lodge with fully furnished kitchen and bedrooms. Decor was neutral and comfortable. The only negatives was the outside patio area, table and chairs were covered in cobwebs so I had to clean them and the actual park isn't very picturesque as it's got so many lodges on it with only about 10/15 foot between them.
Barbara, Rochdale
Date of stay: 8th June 2018
Excellent, as we said this is our third time at Thanet Wells and each time we have been in a different lodge, but our visits to the area have been numerous over the years and we will certainly be going back again
Angela
Date of stay: 2nd June 2018
The lodge was spotless. Loved the convenience of Tv's in both bedroom as well as the main living space. Good storage which is sometimes and issue on other lodges we have stayed in. Nice shower and comfy beds.

Date of stay: 21st May 2018
The lodge was clean, tidy and had all of the necessary amenities. The view was amazing from the decking and hot tub area. Great place to retreat to after visiting lakes and heading out walking each day. Comfortably sized for 4 people (2 couples).

Location was great - 15/20 minutes from Ullswater Lake and many of the sites, and 40 minutes from Windermere.

Highly recommended.

A truly great location if you like peace and quiet, and walking. Greystoke is the nearest village, hour and halfs walk with a great pub, or you could drive, approx five minutes. We will be looking for accommodation where pets are not allowed in future. There were pet hairs on the furniture and the lounge floor had not been swept properly.
We really liked everything else.
Mary, Morden
Date of stay: 7th April 2018
What a beautiful lodge we had, and so amazingly clean and well-fitted. It was lovely and cosy and my friend and I had an en suite each, a sofa each and enjoyed looking out over open countryside with snow-capped mountains in the distance. Our maintenance man was extremely helpful and friendly and assisted us twice on technology/appliance issues. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and were sad to leave.

Date of stay: 18th March 2018
This holiday was good value for money. There was 6 adults and one infant in our group. A cot was provided for the infant. The only place the cot could be erected was in the walk in wardrobe of the double bed bedroom.
Kimberley, Burnley
Date of stay: 18th March 2018
Slightly dusty, large cobwebs in bedroom, dead fly on bed. Bulb over table not working however we went back to reception and got another. Dishwasher made the plates smell so I ended up washing them again by hand!

Our lodge was lovely just a couple of things wrong, one was creeky floorboards and the other you had to pay for Internet, we have been to 5 Darwin escapes and never had to pay , but wouldn't put us off going again, just wish there was a pub in walking distance , was over 4 miles away! To far to walk !!

The addition of a blanket for your pet so that they can sit on the furniture with you was a really nice touch. It was great to have tea and coffee provided so that we could have a drink as we arrived and an absolute godsend was the dishwasher tablets, we didn't have to wash up once!

We go to the lakes several times a year, most years. This November break was such good value, with all you could need in the accommodation. We have done about 30 Novembers now (wedding anniversary), this was one off the most enjoyable. It wasn't fantastic weather but dry-ish and mild. The walks made better for having somewhere warm, comfortable, and cosy to go back to. A large bath to soak in also lifts tired limbs ready for another day.
Anita, Kirkby In Ashfield
Date of stay: 17th November 2017
The lodge was superb with comfy furniture and more importantly a comfy bed, there was everything you need to self cater if you want and the views from the veranda were superb. If I were to nit pick there were signs that the lodge was one of the older models like the edge of a work top was missing its formica trim and 1 or 2 other small things but that really is being pedantic, overall this lodge was excellent and I would be very happy to stay in it again.
Damien, Newcastle Upon Tyen

We arrived at 4:30pm to a cold lodge, got the heating going, ate a pre prepared meal, and were just going to shower when the electricity went off, about 6:40. I rang the out of hours number, given in the 'help' leaflet, and was told they were aware off the break down, there was only a few affected, but they were contacting the engineer. I rang again about 7:20, and was told the engineer was on his way. So we put on extra jumpers, and used jackets over our knees, we only had light from our mobile phones, and the torch which is in the hall doorway, we darn't move about far, in case 1 of us fell. I rang again at 8: 10, to be told the engineer was working, and power should be restored in about an hour, I said we were cold, and couldn't make a warm drink, and put the phone down when i was told to wrap up warm! We went to bed about 9 pm, and the power returned waking us about 11:20. I realise the power cut was no-ones fault, but someone could have checked that the affected lodges were alright, a spare torch, and offering to fill a flask, and bring a blanket would have helped. It just put a edge on the whole of the break, and no-one ever apologised.

The lodge was amazing and it was so spotlessly clean. It had all the facilities you need for a relaxing break and even more as it had the bonus of a dishwasher! Staying in the lodge was like home from home and we had the best nights sleep as it was so peaceful.

We would highly recommend the lodge to anyone wanting a peaceful comfy stay in an extremely clean and comfy lodge.

Date of stay: 16th October 2017
Modern and up to date lodge. Three-part large bathroom was the best feature. Open plan living -dining-kitchen area is the second best. It was a great pleasure to live there for a few days. We could regulate the indoor temperature as required. The sleep was interrupted by the peaceful surroundings. Everything inside the lodge was well and sensibly planned.
The only disappointment was "No Entry" sign outside the gates, when we set off for a walk, just outside the property. There were no footpaths directly from the park, meaning one has to drive to walk. Lastly, the views were magnificent.

An excellent standard in the lodges, spacious, clean and well equipped for cooking your own meals. The small shop carries a few essentials if you forgot to bring something. We have stopped in Hartsop fold and Pullwood bay many times before on our visits to the Lakes. Thanet Well is a little gem and as good as any we have tried. We have booked to go again in 6 weeks, that says it all.

The only downside is it's on the edge of the Lakes with no "out of the door" walks among the fells. Still it's close to the A66 giving easy access across the northern Lakes!

Beautiful lodge with stunning views. We had number 16 which had one of the best views in the park.

Sofas are a little low. The lodge had a couple of steps up to it. We only came back one night after dark and the steps were not well lit. Poor selection of glassware in the lodge, only very tiny glasses, nothing for a long drink or a pint. We also only had three teaspoons for a six bed lodge

The lodge was spot on .... as always.

I was however a little bit disappointed that the price dropped after we had booked....that's why I have scored it down on value for money. It was still a good deal, but could of been cheaper !

The lodges were fabulous, very modern with home comforts. The surroundings were very peaceful and a great location for exploring the lakes. One thing to be absolutely picky was that the tea caddy was made up for one person when we booked for 4. This is the only developmental point I could give.
Amy, Kettering

Excellent lodge - clean and modern. Single double bedroom with large en suite area incorporating two washbasins, wc, shower and stand alone bath.

There is no pub within walking distance and the site is down a few narrow country lanes but it is still only 25mins to Keswick.

Lovely modern log cabin. The only complaint was poor water pressure in the showers and only one parking space outside (for a three bedroom lodge is poor).

Date of stay: 17th June 2017
This was an excellent trip, our two ladies really enjoyed the change of scene. The facilities were great - clean, well cared for and in a wonderful location. we would have liked a bit more variety at the shop and maybe somewhere the ladies could have enjoyed a glass of cider or a shandy (little 'clubhouse') as we were so far from other amenities. Generally, couldn't fault this lovely place and kind, helpful staff.

Date of stay: 10th June 2017
Really lovely lodge, had almost everything we needed, tin opener didn't work and could have done with some tongs! But these are so petty it didn't detract from a beautiful, spotless, quiet lodge. The hot tub was perfect, checked every day was nice. The little extras of the tin on check in and the rubber ducky was appreciated. Not much on the site but that's what we wanted. Beds mega comfortable and decor lovely. We had a great time and would definitely return.

Everything included in the lodge it was clean and tidy. Spacious rooms. Shower and bath. About 25 minute drive to nearest supermarket. It was a drive to everything as it's in the middle of nowhere. We had a lodge without hot tub. Wi-Fi not worth the money as phone internet was faster. Lovely walks nearby. Definitely recommend Keswick and penrith. The raghed centre is really good deffo worth a visit. Bike riding hire in Keswick for £12.50. Views spectacular. Overall lovely holiday for relaxing. Nothing to do for kids here.

Date of stay: 31st March 2017
This a beautiful lodge, very cosy and very clean. It is very well equipped, with everything you need. Heaps of power points and hooks in the shower and bathroom area. Plenty shelves in shower/ bath/ sinks for toiletries. I liked the little desk with mirror at correct height in the bedroom. It also had a light specifically for it along with power points, perfect for hair and make. Do bring your own hairdryer though.
The only thing we didn't really like was the two seater sofa. It was in a slightly awkward position for watching to, and wasn't comfortable. I took the gorgeous bedroom chair through to sit in at night, in order to watch to.
The bed was super comfy also.
Perfect lodge for nice, quiet break.
Cara, N/a
Date of stay: 31st March 2017

Date of stay: 24th March 2017
I visited twice now , I did find my experience in the lodge first time was better , only one reason being the wind could get really bad and if your staying in the main bedroom there was a air vent that would keep flapping all night keeping myself and partner awake the second visiting, other than that I fully recommend this to anyone .
Georgia, Thornton Dale
Date of stay: 24th March 2017

Date of stay: 30th January 2017
The lodge was lovely, open plan and modern. The sofa's and beds are very comfortable. As a whole it was clean, however it really did need a proper clean around the edges-bugs in light fittings and so much dust on top of the en-suite shower. And the bottom of the kitchen under the cupboards is falling apart.

Date of stay: 13th January 2017
Lodge was absolutely beautiful. Couldn't of been happier when we walked through the door on arrival even though it was dark outside. Heating was on, every where smelt lovely and there is literally everything you could need in the kitchen cupboards! Plenty of plates bowls glasses etc, even has casserole dishes and cheese grater! Only downfall was cobwebs on ceilings in pretty much every room n hallway. High ceilings so must have been missed. Spot lights and lamps through out n there was also a few spotlights out but the 2 things didn't spoil our trip what so ever. Amazing view and the hubby thoroughly enjoyed his suprise 30th birthday trip.

Beautiful luxury lodge, in lovely, peaceful surroundings.
Elonby 3 lodge was immaculate and extremely comfortable.
Staff at check-in and park maintenance were terrific and made you feel, very much at home.
Very relaxing surroundings, nice distance between lodges, no noise or mess anywhere.
Excellent location, for visiting numerous villages in the surrounding area.
Highly recommend. We booked to return later this year.

The lodge was lovely, clean and well equipped with everything we needed including a hot tub! The lodge has fantastic views and was a great place to go for a peaceful and relaxing family break away with the dog. We would highly recommend visiting Thanet Well Lodge Retreat and a stay in a Blencathra Lodge with spectacular panoramic views of the mountain which makes it that extra bit special, especially when viewing it from your hot tub.

We had the most amazing stay at the beginning of October! Weather was fantastic, surroundings were beautiful and the staff were just willing to help with every query nomatter how small! There were supermarkets close by and only a short drive to ullswater where there is so much to do and see! We stayed in lodge no44 and there was not one single fault that we could pick, best holiday in the lakes by far. So amazing we were upset to leave! The team at thanetwell lodge are amazing and we will 110% be returning!

Had a lovely, relaxing weekend away with a small group of friends. The lodge itself was beautiful, very clean and spacious. The site had amazing views of the countryside. The only fault was the oven took a very long time to cook our food. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Slight issue that only one key to the property and no master to let us in if parties had split up. Suggestion to leave key in safe by door which ANYONE could access as code posted above it was not helpful! Otherwise excellent!

A very pleasant 4 night break with family, we didn't want leave.

Easy access for Penrith, Keswick and Patterdale.

We have always thought that the north end of the lake district has the best scenery.

Walked round Brothers Water at the foot of Kirkstone pass which I would recommend to anyone.

Also had a wonderful meal in the Boot and Shoe just 10 minutes from the lodge.

Cant wait to go back.

The staff were exceptionally helpful and concerned for our well-being owing to the fact that work was being done on the site. We were upgraded to a lodge further away from the work and were highly satisfied with this. The lodge was beautifully situated, immaculate with very comfortable beds. One point - the shower head in the disabled bathroom was fixed so could not be angled when using the seat, but our disabled friend managed.

The cabin was amazing and was a very large size. It was clean and well managed and we had towels and bed linen provided as well as saucepans and crockery to carry on with our holiday.
However, the hot tub only worked on one occasion and there was a couple of occasions where the temperature had dropped massively so therefore we were unable to use it. I have family who stayed in the exact cabin in june 2015 and the same thing happened to the hot tub then.

Lodge was lovely and spacious, 2 bed one with ensure. Bath and shower, GCH throughout (it was January and we never once felt cold, despite it snowing heavily during the stay). Everything was clean, kitchen was extremely well equipped. Small repairs needed on blinds. Bit annoying when we were cooking and couldn't have a window open but manageable.

Had a fab time, the lodge is clean, spacious, double room is ensuit. We stayed for 3 days and it rained throughout. The ground outside the lodge was saturated with water and gets muddy, got to be very careful when coming and going out of the lodge. My friend slipped and messed all her cloth, but then there is washing machine, which was very helpful!!

Lodges were lovely, modern & clean. Especially as we were in a pet lodge. Hot tubs well maintained. Staff really helpful. Towels were provided which was great & appreciated. It was rather wet the days we were there which left a mucky puppy every time she went out. So our own towels were used to keep her clean.

We brought fridge and freezer food and were pleased to find a large freezer. We assumed they were switched on as there were no visable switches or instructions indicating otherwise. The following day the freezer food was defrosted and the fridge was too warm to keep food safe. We looked for switches and found them out of the kitchen area next to the sofa. A simple notice in the kitchen to tell us to switch on appliances would have save us a lot of wasted food.

Nice big lodge, clean and warm when we arrived (It was October but early in the month and a bit of an 'Indian Summer'). Hot tub was good fun and the staff maintained it regularly. Bath towels were provided and the kitchen was well equipped. The one miniscule problem was the tin opener was worn out and useless. Luckily, for some reason, I had packed one with our food & drink.

Date of stay: 26th September 2015
Great lodge, very nicely furnished inside with large sofas and all the immenities you would find in your own home. Blue lights lit the porch area so you could sit outside at night and look at the stars which were amazing with the lack of light pollution! The outside patio furniture was quite old and probably needs updating soon as it was quite scruffy. Only problem was an intermittent boiler but it didn't affect us that much we just kept having to reset it. Would definitely stay again!

Date of stay: 28th August 2015
Comfortable, well-equipped lodge with washer/dryer, dishwasher therefore able to cook family meals with relative ease (for a holiday home). A comfortable place to spend time in when the weather was bad. Wifi is very limited however so beware if you wish to use devices during your stay. Although there was wifi available (at additional cost) in the park the signal was not strong enough for our lodge.
Richard
Date of stay: 28th August 2015
Second visit and this one was even better. Can't fault the accommodation, the cleanliness of the park etc. It is in the middle of nowhere - which is what we wanted - so be organised with buying groceries.

Would/will go again. The kids absolutely love it and the playpark gives the grown ups a break :-)

Date of stay: 7th August 2015
The lodge we stayed in was lovely, had everything you needed in it. The staff was very helpful in offering advice on places to go. The view overlooking the mountains whilst relaxing in the hot tub was perfect. Would definitely recommend anyone to stay at Thanet wells. You do have to travel to get to places the nearest pub was approx. 5 miles and the nearest town to get food at the supermarket was approx. 9miles. But it was so peaceful, quiet and relaxing was well worth the drive to go to places. The only thing was that Wi-Fi was a bit hit or miss, you could pay for internet, but we didn't worry it was just my eldest teenager son that missed it the most!

Date of stay: 3rd August 2015
Amazing weekend in the new Souther Fell lodges at Thanet Well.

The area is beautiful.

From what we can see is the park is under redevelopment and the new lodges are really cosy and everything was brand new. Only downside really is the noise from the main bathroom in the 2nd bedroom. The tap is really noisy for the person with a bed on the other side of the wall.

Local area is great. I would recommend trying all the pubs that are recommened. My favourites was the Old Crown in Heskett Newmarket for it has its own brewery and the Mill Inn in Mungrisdale, beautiful surroundings.

Date of stay: 29th June 2015
Was obviously high spec when new but in need of a bit of tlc. The carpets are very marked and one of the beds has collapsed in part. Lots of positives though. Lovely big kitchen with large fridge freezer and five ring hob. Bedding was of high quality and the sofas really comfortable. There is no view from this lodge which is why it is cheaper than the others.
Hilary, Warrington
Date of stay: 29th June 2015
Just one minor point which would make a difference to people who haven't been before and don't realise how far from shops the lodges are....it would have been great to have a welcome pack containing some basics, say milk, tea, bar of soap etc. There was a box containing 3 dishwasher tablets (great) but the very very small bottle of washing up liquid didn't really wash much at all. Apart from that it was a lovely weekend - thank you!

A very comfortable lodge, well furnished, with excellent views across open country towards the fells from the patio (but very windy!). Efficient heating and plenty hot water. Hot tub was great, wasn't sunk into the patio so accessed by two steps. Very
well maintained and checked several times a day. The patio area wasn't gated so wasnt secure for our dogs, but we were able to put up temporary netting. The staff told us they are in the process of fitting gates so this should solve the problem.

Love this place and we had a brilliant time however it is situated in a rather secluded area with not a lot immediately near by. The lodge itself was very clean and lovely decorated with everything we could have needed. The hot tub was perfect and v hot. Loved my stay here and would definitley recommend it if you are looking for a chill out weekend.

Date of stay: 3rd April 2015
Excellent lodge - modern, clean and spacious. Had all the facilities you would need for a week away with children.

The hot tub was an added luxury. Staff were fastidious about the cleanliness of the tub/water and it was checked three times a day!

Only lacked a little crockery.

Fantastic Friday-Monday break at Thanet Well for my boyfriends birthday. Loved the lodge, had a slight issue with the heating not working on the first night but as soon as I went to reception the next morning they got it sorted for us. Lovely friendly and helpful staff. We loved the lodge, amazing view, hot tub was lovely. Everything we needed in the kitchen to cook a 3 course meal.
We will definitely return in the future!

Date of stay: 20th March 2015
A little further away from Ulleswater than anticipated, but very peaceful and good views. Lodges was well equipped - enough pots & pans etc to cook if desired. Spotlessly clean, fluffy white towels and the bed linen crisp and pristine. Plenty of storage but a few more coat hangers would have been welcome.
Set up for disabled access the hall was light, bright and spacious. Bathroom has wet room with shower rather than a shower cubicle.

The lodge was excellent value and the views were stunning even better with the sprinkling of snow on the hills.
We had everything we needed, loved the shower with jets at different positions and radio to sing along to!
Really liked the huge windows along the front, no spoiled views and even though it was cold out, the inside felt toasty and warm all the time.

As you are able to take dogs it would have been better to have had a Hoover to clean up a bit each day and before we left! And push one just isn't any good for pet hair and mud at this time of year! Would also have been useful for a bin bag dishwasher tablet for a starter pack! Would have been a nice touch. Couldn't get hold of anyone on arrival day, I believe the phone lines were down so understand that no one is to blame but caused some anxiety as we were late arrives, the website states a code is needed etc to get keys. This turns out not to be the case, maybe an update in the website would be helpful :) a lovely location, lovely accomadation clean and spacious staff were lovely when I needed to speak to someone! Fantastic value for money will defo book next year

We had a lovely week despite the weather! We had a lovely little room just inside the main door for all the boots and coats, this meant that everything went in there after our walks and dried out nicely ready for the next day. The lodge also had another handy room with a sink and washing machine and room to dry the clothes! Very important with 2 muddy children in tow! My only complaint is that the bed was not very comfortable, having said that my husband thought it was ok.

The lodge was lovely in really well kept surroundings. Our particular lodge was brilliantly laid out and quitw luxurious considering it was only a standard specification. Beautiful.

Date of stay: 17th October 2014
double bed had a broken base on one side this cased the matress to dip into a delve it creeked terrible when you moved ,so we slept in the single beds .then in the middle of the night it rained and all you could here was a loud dripping sound was like Chinese torture,so packed some blankets under the matress in the double bed and that helped to make the bed better to sleep in ,you need a new bed lol overall a great place and would go back

Everything was pretty new and comfortable. Excellent level of furniture and fittings. Only thing not top-notch were the vertical blinds with missing slats preventing us from having privacy with lights on but site staff said that new site owners were embarking upon a refurbishment programme. Only a small flaw anyway, no big deal.

Date of stay: 12th July 2014
I was pleasantly surprised with the actual lodge itself. The living & kitchen area were top notch - comfy leather sofa & chairs, stainless steel appliances with a dish washer & a washing machine. Bathrooms were good too with a private on-suite in the main bedroom (have been in other places where it says on-suite, but is actually accessible from other rooms). The only downside I would say were the sparse bedrooms, which more resembled a typical caravan rather than a 'luxury' lodge - although there was plenty of storage. Overall though the lodge was the best we have stayed in and we are looking at going back again later in the year.

Stayed in the VIP lodge before because of the hot tub- but think this lodge (52) have a better layout. Not as fancy/modern as the VIP lodges, but more comfortable.

The only issue we had with the lodge was the fridge- wasn't cold at all (poor beers)- but the freezer was working fine. Informed management on the way out- hopefully will be sorted for the next guest.
Gill, Peterborough

Very nice lodge but a few niggles such as bathroom smelling very musty and basin plug missing. More crockery is needed so that the dishwasher does not have to be put on half empty so you have enough plates for the next meal.

Spotless and clean - Lodge 3 has spacious living accommodation and looks out onto a large, quiet open play space. It also gets a great track of sunlight onto the decking and into the front living area throughout the day. We had grandparents in our group booking, so the en-suite bedroom is perfect at the back of the chalet.

We had a lovely holiday in a clean, well equipped lodge that was in a perfect location for our three year old grandson as it overlooked the playpark. We were accompanied by our two daughters, one of their partners and his dog. If I had to nitpick at all, it would be nice to have bedside lamps as the lights had to be turned off before you got into bed and the overbed lights were very bright. That's a very small niggle and we all had a lovely time, helped by the glorious weather. There was a small shop on site selling essential items and numerous supermarkets in Penrith. There's a forest walk close by and Ullswater is within easy reach.

Absolutely worth every penny. After a long journey, we were greeted with a fabulous lodge, with jaw-dropping, uninterrupted, elevated views, and a very very clean and prestigious lodge, with flowers, champayne, chocs and lots of other lovely welcome gifts. We had stayed at some lovely lodges in the past, but this one was exceptional, particularly with the hot tub looking onto the views.. Nothing more we can add but worth every penny and absolutely spectacular.. We will definitely be returning and hopefully asking for lodge no.15 again.

Silly little fault was the bath taps being plumbed in the wrong way around. After a day of walking, I ran the bath only to have ran a bath full of cold water, a sign stating the fault would have prevented this

The Lodge was out of this world, a massive wow factor, comfy and spacious, everything there what you could wish for, didn't want to leave. :-(
S
Fantastic lodge- clean, warm and comfortable. Have stayed here for many years but certainly feel that the current overhaul has really improved our experience.
Frances
I would have preferred to find hand soap and a towel in the toilet cubicle, rather than being provided with miniature toiletries and a rubber duck. Also, I thought the quality of the toilet tissue could have been better.

Fun Days Out near Thanet Well Lodge Retreat

about 11 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
about 11 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.

This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.

Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.

Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. Seasonal activities can also be enjoyed including a spookly tea and walk on Haloween. The Farm closes for the winter on October 31st.

Here at the Wildlife Oasis you can really get up close to the animals and experience a mix of exotic wildlife and hand son displays.  See butterflies, birds and even bats flying around.  You don't have to plan your visit according to weather either with the tropical hall and butterfly house undercover.  Sunny days are ideal for some of the inhabitants however with the monkeys and Lemurs loving to sunbathe.  The mission of Lakeland's Wildlife Oasis is to engender and foster an interest and appreciation of the natural world which, in our belief underpins wildlife conservation; and, where possible to contribute and encourage contribution to the conservation of wildlife and wild places.  You know that you are helping with this mission if you choose to visit.

Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.

Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
