Very impressed with the lodge and setting. Read some reviews that where not flattering but in all honesty it was a fantastic lodge and site. We wanted a chill out and we got that, lovely warm lodge and hot tub, clean and tidy and more than adequate for a week...we went on the coldest week but was more than comfortable in the lodge...give it a try!

Vicky, Mansfield
Date of stay: 17th December 2017
The lodge was very clean and comfortable with a good kitchen, comfy bed and good seating in the living room, although the TV is tiny. It is great if you do not intend to leave the lodge at all. The issue is where the park is situated. It is on a industrial estate with busy road noises throughout the night. Do not stay if you are a light sleeper. Also, the hot tub had terrible views and made it less relaxing.
Anne, Sheffield

Date of stay: 4th August 2017
We w/o up not recommend this site if you have children . There's nothing on site and we were on edge about the noise level of our children as there isn't a great deal of space between the lodges. Even though they are very well behaved, we felt like we were constantly nagging them to keep the noise down. Location is terrible, not the forest location we had thought we would be arriving at.

beautiful but decking needs antislip mesh as father in law slipped badly
Gillian, Lancashire
Date of stay: 14th November 2016
The lodge was lovely, clean and fully equipped with everything we needed. The fire just blew out warm air and didn't seem to help much and the heating would get to a temperature and turn off which was not warm enough for us as it was a cold weekend. The hot tub was very nice but very plain nothing around to look at plus a lot of slugs were around on the decking. The street light was right outside our bedroom which was a pain because it was to light all night long.
Sarah, Derby
Date of stay: 14th November 2016
A great weekend away, nice clean lodges and spa treatments are excellent! Looking forward to returning again soon!

Date of stay: 22nd July 2016
Thought table felt a bit dirty so wiped it down, it was clean just sticky which made it feel dirty, good hot tub, just a shame about the decking it was badly in need of staining, looked very worn and piece missing out of fence at bottom near hot tub, just little things that could easily be put right, other than that clean and comfortable.
Stephen, Aberdeen
Date of stay: 15th July 2016

Pat, Liverpool
Date of stay: 23rd May 2016
Hot tub was definitely a bonus for us.
Emily, Worthing
Date of stay: 23rd May 2016
Went for a birthday treat. Was a lovely place to stay at and the lodges are beautiful with really good sized bedrooms. Although was a shame we didn't get a tv in the master bedroom like stated before we paid and that our jacuzzi we had to walk out the front door and round the back - rather than having fenced off decking like all the others.
Michael, Aberdeen
Date of stay: 16th May 2016
A spacious lodge with two showers and a bath. One shower is walk-in, so suitable for the less able. The wrap round verandah enables you to sit in the sun at any time of day. At half the cost of two budget hotel rooms and the choice of eating in or out it is great value for money. There is also a bed settee. We were a party of three adults so were able to have a room each but remember to take a 4ft 6ins fitted sheet for the bed settee should you want to use it. Baxi Bermuda type boiler provides oodles of hot water 24/7. The washer is very useful if you are staying a while. Overall my type of holiday accommodation.
John
Date of stay: 2nd May 2016
Hot tub too small for 4 adults
Peter, Atherstone
Date of stay: 2nd May 2016

A lovely roomy lodge. A small grumble with having to walk out the front of the lodge to get to the hot tub.
This did not spoil our weekend break.
Matt, Nottingham

Couldn't fault the accommodation. The hot tub was a great extra.

Don't splash out for anything more than the woodland view executive, they have a much better more private location. Lovely
Kimberley, Nottingham
Date of stay: 22nd February 2016

Lovely cabin very clean and quiet everything you need for a relaxing weekend away
Raymond, Lincoln
Date of stay: 3rd January 2016
Our mini break was fantastic and we have already booked again for next year, the park was tidy and although there are no facilities other than a spa it was nice just to relax and go sightseeing. The lodge was fine and just as we expected, there were a few issues with light bulbs not working and not being able to replace them however this did not spoil our fun, the sofa could probably have been cleaner, it's obviously been well used but could do with replacing but this is myself being picky. All in all a brilliant break and a lovely way to see the New Year in.
Julie, Milton Keynes
Date of stay: 30th December 2015
Beautiful, clean and comfortable lodges with amazing staff that will help you with anything. We went for my husbands 40th, hot tub was amazing and plan to go again to take the children. Not a lot on site but don't have to go far to find supermarkets or restaurants.

Stayed for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. Better than expectations upon arrival, very clean and everything working sufficiently. Spent most of the time in the hot tub! Would recommend it to anyone :)
Kate, Evesham
Date of stay: 20th November 2015
Me and my boyfriend needed a well deserved break away from working full time and to become closer, and I honestly think this holiday was perfect. We arrived and were suprised to see we had a hottub in the floor decking and a spare room and two bathrooms! I couldn't believe it. We had all the equipment we needed for cooking and we had such a lovely few days :) my only criticism is the location- as we did have to find something to do and all we could think about was shopping ! So we went to Derby centre and to bourton. However we loved every minute of our stay and wished we could have stayed longer. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and it was lovely :) thanks again.

Date of stay: 20th November 2015
There aren't really any words that do our lodge justice, exactly what we were looking for, and it's 10x better in person that what it looks in the pictures!
We will be staying at swainswood again and will definitely be opting for the woodland ultimate, incredible value for money :)
Melanie, Sheffield
Date of stay: 16th November 2015
Great little park and lovely lodge, unresolved maintenance issues stopped me scoring 10/10
Rebecca, Sheffield
Date of stay: 9th November 2015
Lovely place to stay, really romantic. The hot tub was ready on arrival and was lovely and hot! The only little bit of feedback I would give is just to give the radiators abit of a dust because ours looked like they hadn't been done for a while. And also I know the kitchen provides the basic essentials but there was no salt or pepper, the shakers where there but empty. Other than that it was perfect!

Me and my partner are defiantly returning and have recommended it to family and friends.
Maria, Ilkeston
Date of stay: 2nd November 2015
The lodge itself was beautiful, but we came as 3 adult friends and the second bedroom was far too small for 2 adults and the beds were too small, hence we had to leave a day early to come home and get some sleep.
Lisa, Doncaster
Date of stay: 31st October 2015

The lodge we stayed in was quite and relaxing, we have stayed at the park before in a lodge on up from the one we stayed in, we found this lodge to be of better quality and layout with the hot tub.

Lovely lodge, lovely hot tub. My only criticism is it wasn't a 'woodland view', it was right in tbe middle of the park and very overlooked!
Amanda, Lincolnshire
Date of stay: 28th September 2015
fantastic lodge, everything you need, hot tub was wonderful and very hot, ( we had to turn it down ) very secluded. we've been to quite a lot of lodges with hot tubs and this is one of the better ones.

This is the smallest lodge on site but quite adequate for 2 people. It is well equipped, has a lovely bathroom with shower over the bath. Small balcony at the front and hot tub at the back.

Lodge was nice and clean with everything you could need.
Kirsty, Bedfordshire
Date of stay: 27th July 2015
We had a Woodland Ultimate lodge which was beautiful. My only complaint would be that the rooms were smaller than some other lodges we have stayed in.

Our lodge was in the corner which overlooked countryside and no one could see our hot tub, so this was very private.

I would recommend this lodge to people.
Jean, Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire.
Date of stay: 20th July 2015
The lodge was very clean and very comfortable, the only fault (if you could call it a fault) was that as we had a teenager in our party there were not enough channels on the television and no free Wi-Fi.
Gaynor, St Helens
Date of stay: 13th July 2015
Lovely place
Staff could smile more and be a little more helpful.
Christine, Emsworth
Date of stay: 11th July 2015
The Lodge was sumptuous and generally well presented. The 3 piece suite was showing some signs of age.
It was lovely to have a Dishwasher and a Washing Machine available.
The Lodge was spotless and it was lovely to find a small supply of tea, coffee and milk sachets so that we could enjoy a welcome cup of tea.
The lodge was spacious and very comfortable. We felt spoilt with both an en suite shower and a bathroom.
We hope to stay here again in the future.
Paul, Kirknewton
Date of stay: 11th July 2015
A lovely holiday home with a hot tub, our only issue was the fridge which was not working and the one supplied for use during our stay was in the bedroom. Owners have offered a discount off our next stay due to this.

Steven, Leicester
Date of stay: 15th May 2015
I couldn't believe what the luxury. I'd never been in a holiday lodge before. To be honest I was expecting a 'glorified caravan' , but No.
High quality furniture, fixtures and fittings. Plenty of room . A fully fitted kitchen with ample appliances.
Absolute comfort.
The added touches of complimentary tea, coffee and sugar & towel bales make it homely from the start.
Highly recommended holiday.
Emma, Sheffield
Date of stay: 8th May 2015
We had a lovely stay at Swainswood, the park itself was very nice and the lodge was modern and clean. The hot tub was fantastic and we used it quite a lot while we were there. The only downfall to the park is its location. you are roughly about 15 minutes away from any shopping facilities or any bars or restaurants. other than that i would definitely recommend swainswood as we had a brilliant time.

Fantastic location! This lodge was beautiful and the children enjoyed it very much, only down fall was the twin room was very tight, we struggled to say goodnight together..it had to be one at a time. But overall a lovely stay and would definitely go again.

Lovely lodge. Lovley decor. Near main road so was a little noisey. X
Derek, Sheffield
Date of stay: 9th March 2015
Facilities were mostly great. We did have difficulty using the combi microwave and could have done with the instruction book. Next time we would bring our own king size quilt as the double provided was only just big enough providing neither of us moved. The hot tub was great but only big enough for two adults and a couple of children.
Lauren, South Yorkshire
Date of stay: 9th March 2015
great place to stop, very relaxing and only a short drive from some pubs, shops and twycross zoo, would defiantly reccomend. thinking about returning later on in the years as it was a great holiday and we really enjoyed it.

WE HAD A REALLY NICE STAY HERE FOR THE WEEKEND OF MY BIRTHDAY, GREAT LOCATION!
Rebecca, Doncaster
Date of stay: 2nd March 2015
Really enjoyed my stay at Swainswood. Log cabin was extremely clean. Seen a few complaints about the deposit on arrival, for me this is standard procedure and I expected it anyway so can't complain about that. Also read a complaint about the sofas which I agree with and is my only complaint, could do with bigger sofas or at least a foot stool :-) but apart from that it was a Really relaxing enjoyable stay. Would definatly go back again and highly recommend staying here!

Excellent lodge lots of towels provided, washing up liquid shower gel dishwasher tablets, t.cloth all these little things help, beds were made up good phone reception, may be a little noisy at night in the summer as the road can be busy we were right on the road but it was winter.
Emma, Hailsham
Date of stay: 20th February 2015
Lodge was very clean and full of appliances. Maybe only comment would be the bedrooms were tight, but did not spoil our stay at all
Abigail, Coventry
Date of stay: 16th February 2015
We had trouble with the central heating however this was quickly resolved. The sofas were a little small but perfect for 2 of you. Loved the secure gates and it was in such a beautiful place. Would definitely stay again as it was very good value for money compared to competitors. The location was perfect for us as it was only an hours drive. In a very secluded area but local shops just 5 mins drive away.

Kay, Sheffield
Date of stay: 9th February 2015
Nice cabin, adequetely furnished and provided for. Only downside to this one, is as it is so close to the woods we paid for the wifi for our stay but barely got coverage. This was refunded by the company, however, with not a lot else to do on the site particularly for my 11 & 12 year old, this was slightly off putting.
Jenny, Worksop

Date of stay: 17th October 2014
Would have liked more if we weren't near to the road and if the hot tub was more private. When booking we were also told that by paying for a deluxe lodge we would get a 20ft wide cabin, what we were given was a 14ft wide one.
Sajjad, Milton Keynes
Date of stay: 13th October 2014
I was in Lodge 24 and it was quite secluded from others. This was an executive lodge and everything was just perfect. The hot tub was the highlight of the stay. The staffs were extremely helpful and would definitely recommend.

Date of stay: 6th October 2014
Only let down is you had to pay for wi fi which I didn't think was right, should be free nowadays.
Was a 4 berth lodge only had four plates, bowls etc. if you did a roast dinner you'd have crib out of serving plates and bowls, likewise if you had visitors around for the evening there would be no spare cutlery or plates for them to eat off.

Date of stay: 26th September 2014
When we arrived at the accommodation we found the fridge had not been cleaned from previous occupants and there were food wrappers pushed down the back of the furniture which also suggests that the lodge had not been cleaned thoroughly prior to our arrival.....although the accommodation decor and facilities were first class and cleanliness of hot tub was of a very high standard this could not be faulted.
Linda, Birmingham
Date of stay: 22nd September 2014

Date of stay: 1st September 2014
The lodge was immaculate the cleanest place I've ever stayed. The site is obviously well cared for grounds etc. the shower was lovely and there little touches like toiletries and cleaning stuff was useful tea coffee just enough till you unpack was very nice. The exact number of plates cutlery etc per person was a little limiting as I kept washing stuff from dishwasher was a little annoying but I'm being stupidly picky. This really was a lovely place to stay the hot tub was really nice clean and well cared for. Overall 9/10.

Lovely place
Tony, Leighton Buzzard
Date of stay: 29th August 2014
We found the accommodation lovely but we had a boiler engineer work on the heating for over an hour during our stay as we did not have heating for the first day. The lights on the decking area did not work so we had to request these be fixed. As well as paying for the hirer of a cot bed not being in the cabin on arrive and having to request this.

We found that the maintenance men were extremely helpful and polite but on arrive found the receptionist uninterested and rude. The spa was never manned and therefore did not book any treatments.

Our overall stay was pleasant but could of done without having to stay in waiting to the engineer to fix the heating.
Vishnu, Stockport
Date of stay: 25th August 2014
The lodges are pristine and in excellent condition-like brand new. Furniture and fittings are very modern and top class. But the best part was the hot tub in the balcony which was simply out if this world! Even on a cold night, you would want to just lie in the hot tub and relax. Would definitely go back again, at least for a dip in the tub!
Nicola, North Yorkshire
Date of stay: 1st August 2014
Only down side but not much of a problem was there was only place settings for 4 people.
Sylvia, Blyth, Northumberland
Date of stay: 25th July 2014
We had a great holiday, lodge was beautiful, we were lucky the weather was red hot so could visit places outside the park ( Drayton Manor etc) Swainswood park is beautiful but feel there should be something for children eg. Park, play area etc, having said that if weather good there is plenty to do on the outside.
Susan, Yorkshire
Date of stay: 18th July 2014
We stayed in Woodland View 2, the lodge was very clean, modern and well equipped. We had a small veranda at the front with access through french doors and had sun on most of the day. Our hot tub, which was brilliant (warm with plenty of bubbles if you wanted them) was located at the back quite near to the trees and you had to step into it as it was not built into the decking like most others, access to it was through side door and walk round to it, it was not a problem for us and very private once you were there.
Heather, Worsley, Manchester

Date of stay: 23rd June 2014
The lodge was lovely and had everything needed. However, outside on the steps and on decking area there were cobwebs everywhere. I think these should have been cleaned up. I have a 9 month old baby and she was grabbing them. We also paid extra for a high chair and it was dirty.

Date of stay: 3rd March 2014
location was great to explore the area ,only downfall was the busy road nearby used by hgv and the industrial units outside the main gates
Paul, Peterborough
Date of stay: 3rd March 2014
Couples lodge excellent. our only criticism, we felt the fencing around the hot tube area ought to have been higher as everyone could your access & rear patio until you were in the tube and slightly higher fencing would offer better wind shelter.

Trudi, Edinburgh
Date of stay: 10th February 2014
Everything you needed was there. Accommodation was spotlessly clean. Much bigger log cabin than we thought. Hot tub was great, but felt the one at Ash Lodge wasn't quite as private as others and could be seen from road and opposite cabin.

Only problem was, the fire would not work.
Also the fridge froze all of our meat/drinks we had in them. Was dissapointed as we could not eat a lot of the meals we took with us.
Melanie
Had a great relaxing weekend
Heather
We came to this park for an Easter break for 4 nights, we have a family of 2 girls ( 4 year old and 23 months). We were very impressed with the quality of the lodges and good value for money. All the facilities within the lodge were exceptional plus tins, oven clothes, tea bags and sugar, plenty for our stay. We enjoyed the hot tub, which was checked everyday.
Sophia
Amazing trip away and so peaceful and the staff were great
Claire
We had a lovely time. The lady in the spa was Fabulous and would say it’s the best massage my husband and I have had. My only criticism would be the instructions on working the hot tub weren’t clear and we only figured it out by chance, maybe a demonstration would be useful. Would definitely recommend though
Louisa
An awesome place to stay. Fully equipped, and much larger than we expected. Would definitely come back!
Alan
Really enjoyed the break ,overall very happy with quiet location & facilities ,
Michael

This is a really unique opportunity to see the fantastic work going on at this centre.  The purpose of the British Wildlife Rescue Centre is to treat and care for injured wildlife which cannot be released into the wild.  Many of the animals are brought to the centre by members of the public or the RSPCA.  Visit their website to see the picture gallery and to find out how to help if this is something which interests you.  There are also regular fundraising events such as the Sponsered Leg Wax.

This unique attraction combines an array of activities.  If you have a look on their website there are some good video clips which give an even better idea of what this attraction is all about.  Some of the highlights include the Cable Car system which is actually Britain's first alpine style cable car system.  You are transported from the valley floor right up above where you can enjoy superb Dewent Valley Views.  You can also stroll around 60 acres of wooded hillside on foot to see an array of birds and wildlife.
