This was the perfect place. Peaceful, beautiful, fully kitted out, plenty of things for the kids to do onsite and off.
Helena, Morden
Date of stay: 18th August 2018
A comfy, cosy yet spacious-feeling cottage which we will definitely be returning to. If we could offer one area for development, it would be to provide more cutlery and crockery for the kitchen. That, however, is our only criticism

We were a party of 4 adults. The mattresses on the singe beds were not wonderfully comfortable. We mentioned it on leaving and Maggie was mortified and said we should have mentioned it at the beginning and they would have sorted it. You can't ask for better than that.

We felt as if it was a home away from home with all the appliances provided. It made for a very restful holiday.

The accommodation is a family run business and they are very helpful and friendly, they went out of their way to help. The apartment is very spacious and has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. There is a large front room and dining area. All the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The convenience of having a shower room and toilet downstairs as well as up stairs is very useful. It is set in the countryside and nice and quiet.

A very well looked after little piece of luxury! Extremely clean and friendly, we were made to feel most welcome. Very spacious lounge and double bedroom, everything you need in the kitchen and very well presented. Just perfectly situated a couple of miles from Kendal in one direction and Bowness and the Lake in the other. I will definitely be staying here again and have already recommended this location to others.

Date of stay: 25th January 2016
I wanted somewhere to sleep 7 and couldn't have chosen better than this well maintained site. We were made very welcome and stayed in bank view apartment which was lovely and clean with spacious rooms (2 doubles, a twin and a single). The open plan kitchen / dining / sitting area was ideal for us all to sit and chat whilst making breakfast.
It is in a great location - there is a pub just down the road and it is only a short drive down to Lake Windermere. We will definitely return. (I'm sure it will be even better following the imminent refurbishment)
June
Date of stay: 3rd January 2016
Margaret, Billy and Paul were perfect hosts, always cheery and helpful, so much so as we were coming quite a distance Margaret phoned me when lodge was ready, that's service for you, we only had a wee problem with boiler one morning, but was resolved within 10 mins of reporting it. The lodge was spacious, cosy and clean. Lovely area, quite central for other parts of the Lakes. Would certainly recommend.
Tabitha, Wigan

Great apartments.
Parents needed a hand rail to get down the 2 stairs to the lounge and dinning area.
We were slept upstairs could not fault the apartments.
TV broke whilst we were there reported it to the owner was replaced by a brand new TV that day.
Would certainly return to these apartments.
Marcia, York
Date of stay: 10th October 2015
The lodge was lovely, it was the second time I have stayed here.
Yvonne, Exeter
Date of stay: 3rd October 2015
We have previously stayed at Pound Farm in various lodges. This is the first time we have stayed in one of the apartments. Whilst our preference would be a lodge, we would have no issues with returning to the Hay Loft. Clean and comfortable.
Pitrakou, Welwyn
Date of stay: 25th September 2015
The Stable Cottage was a lovely place to stay, well furnished, clean, providing a great facility for our five day break to the Lake District. Our two dogs were also very content in this accommodation. There is the facility to be able to contain the dogs in the kitchen area by closing all the doors if need be. This is useful as a dog owner if you have wet and muddy dogs! We didn't, the weather was kind. As a location it is well placed though you do need to drive out, there is no where near enough to walk to, i.e. local pubs, etc. Also phone signal is extremely poor however this wasn't too much of a hindrance as signal can be found when out and about. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend.
Terry, Warrington
Date of stay: 19th September 2015
Lovely lodge.problem with fridge/freezer when arriving. Staff had problem sorted before even unloaded car. Cannot fault.
Louise, Liverpool
Date of stay: 12th September 2015
Lovely home from home. Welcoming staff & a good location to explore the Lake District. Pound Farm is a very peaceful site but a short car drive away from Kendal for supplies. A great base for a relaxing holiday.

Date of stay: 12th September 2015
bedding and towels included and spotlessly clean. lovely comfortable bed, overall a lovely comfortable cottage.
Helen, Halifax
Date of stay: 7th September 2015
There were plenty of room in the whole of the apartment very spacious when full with 7 of us. Fully equipped kitchen and 2 bathrooms came in useful and 2 bedrooms downstairs made it easy. Value for money was exceptional, the apartment was well worth it, especially with us filling it. The area has wonderful views and easy to access the lakes.
Stuart, Letchworth
Date of stay: 15th August 2015
The apartment was spotless and very well maintained. The view from the bedrooms was over farmland.

Very quiet location and had an allocated parking spot outside which made life easier when raining.

Will definitely go again and cannot fault the staff for helpfulness.

One thing worth pointing out is the access is via an external set of stairs so might not suit someone with younger children.
Emma, Yarm
Date of stay: 14th August 2015
Couldn't use outdoor furniture as all chairs were broken. Indoor sofas a bit worn. All other furnishings were fine. Very clean lodge.

Fun Days Out near Pound Farm

about 9 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
about 11 Miles
Here at the Wildlife Oasis you can really get up close to the animals and experience a mix of exotic wildlife and hand son displays.  See butterflies, birds and even bats flying around.  You don't have to plan your visit according to weather either with the tropical hall and butterfly house undercover.  Sunny days are ideal for some of the inhabitants however with the monkeys and Lemurs loving to sunbathe.  The mission of Lakeland's Wildlife Oasis is to engender and foster an interest and appreciation of the natural world which, in our belief underpins wildlife conservation; and, where possible to contribute and encourage contribution to the conservation of wildlife and wild places.  You know that you are helping with this mission if you choose to visit.

Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
about 14 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
about 19 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...

Head for the Bowland Wild Boar park and we don't think you will be disappointed.  A popular attraction in Preston there is so much to do for the whole family.  From picnics, walks and wildlife to experiencing feeding the animals you are sure to have a memorable day out.  Also popular is the kids tractor play area.  For rest and relaxation the cafe is ideal serving hot drinks and snacks with a lovely view over the pond and wildlife feeding station.  The Forest of Bowland has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
