With Durham and Newcastle both within easy reach, these glorious lodges are set in over 40 acres of tranquil woodland with superb lakeside views. Northumberland National Park and the Cheviot Hills are just a short drive away as is the bustling market town of Morpeth with its shops and department stores, farmers' markets and lovely central park.

The castle at nearby Alnwick is well worth a visit, and a mooch around the town's independent and varied shops could end with afternoon tea in the treetop café in The Alnwick Garden. There are plenty of restaurants and pubs nearby or you could simply spend your evenings relaxing in your stylish lodge, complete with decking and private hot tub.

Bolam Lodge is a two bedroomed log lodge that comfortably sleeps six people. It has a master double bedroom, one twin and extra room in the lounge. The open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area is contemporary and spacious and there's a flat screen TV with Freeview and DVD as well as a family bathroom with rain forest shower.

Northumberland has more than 30 miles of fabulous coastline and more castles than any other county in England. You can test out your skills on the water with kite and windsurfing or take a boat trip to Farne Islands where you could spot razorbills, guillemots and even puffins!

Absolutely fantastic time in the lodges for a birthday weekend with the girls, we loved every minute!

Loved waking up to the friendly swans and ducks every morning!

The owners - Patrick and family are lush! More than helpful and made us feel immediately at home .

Already recommended to many people and we will definitely be visiting again!
