Warren Lodges

Warren Lodges (Formerly Herbage Country Lodges) are superbly located amidst the lush rolling landscape of the ancient Saxon County of Essex.  Nestled in 48 acres of idyllic countryside and woodland each lodge sits harmoniously alongside the tranquil natural environment. Sit back and watch as rabbits and squirrels run free and marvel at the native deer grazing on the horizon; all this and just under an hour from central London.

The local area is home to a diverse mix of stunning landscapes from green hills and picture postcard villages with pretty thatched cottages through to sandy beaches and trendy marinas; in fact nearby Burnham on Crouch is often referred to as the 'Cowes of the East' and is alive with yachts in boating season. The nearby town of Chelmsford is only 6 miles away and offers a direct train service to London in only 35 minutes.

Warren Lodges are luxurious and contemporary in design.  The Bramley lodge sleeps 4 and is a spacious modern lodge with open plan living area. The Worcester lodge also sleeps 4 and is a superb lodge with outdoor decking area and private hot tub. For larger groups the Lord Lambourne Lodge sleeps 6 and is a super luxury lodge with private outdoor hot tub and large decking area.  All of the lodges come with widescreen TVs, selected freeview channels, double glazing and central heating.

Just a 2 night break to visit family but would recommend Warren Estate and lodge to anyone wanting a well equipped rural retreat of a high standard.
Amanda, Ongar
Date of stay: 12th March 2018
The lodge is great, very comfortable, 6 adults doesn't feel small, lots of room, bedrooms very big. A few little things like TV not working in one room and a few cosmetic things as the lodge is well used, but other than that, a great lodge to rent.
Linda, Essex

Most peaceful area we have ever stayed could do with a resturant / bar open past 5.30 on site rather than 20 minute walk to find it closed at 7pm

Great size with a good modern feel. You can't hear any noise from the other properties so the only sound is nature. Kitchen is lovely and well stocked and the property comes with a large dinning table and very very comfortable sofa's. Faultless. Loved it. Want to stay again.

A lot of things were broken. Dish washer leaks water, showerhead was broken, no fridge door cover. It was no problem, but didn't looked nice and clean. The lodge was so comfort but looked a little poor
Bimal, Heston

maintenance needs attention, loose floor board in kitchen= dangerous, door missing from shower.
David, Peterborough
Date of stay: 13th June 2016
No shower door bathroom was soaked each time the shower was used. Kitchen floor was dangerous reported second day nothing done even though we had small. Children visiting. Nothing was done as we were told that the villa was sold and they were not going to spend any money on it even though we had paid full rate for the week.

Date of stay: 14th March 2016
A lovely relaxing weekend has been had by one and all, has helped recharge the batteries and come home refreshed. It was lovely to see the rabbits and small deer wondering around early in the morning. The hot tub and a glass of wine when we first arrived was extremely welcoming. We have already booked for next year.
Laura, Birmingham
Date of stay: 29th February 2016
Lovely facilities, really nice layout had eveything you could want.
Natalie, Hemel Hempstead
Date of stay: 22nd February 2016
Lovely lodge, my only moan was that in the main bedroom there was blinds but no curtains, so the sun streamed in, in the mornings whereas in the twin room there were blinds and curtains.
Rachel, Leicester
Date of stay: 19th February 2016
Lovely lodge in need of tlc. A few niggles that bring the score down. Kitchen cupboard door missing. Shower door broken (and not fixed despite request from us and previous guests), uneven floor in kitchen, distinct lack of storage facilities for in bedrooms (no coat hangers!) no hooks on doors, window blind cords unsafe for children. Crockery and pots and pans - some dirty and some needs replacing.
8 berth lodge only parking room for 1 car!
Lilou, Essex
Date of stay: 5th February 2016
This was such a lovely place to stay. As soon as we got through the door out first thoughts were: decor fresh, quality accessories and most importantly VERY clean. Good, comfy beds great bathrooms and lovely hot tub. The views were picturesque and we had great views of surrounding wildlife.
Joy, Cannock
Date of stay: 3rd January 2016

What a lovely stay we had! My third visit but with a different group. Rented at 8 berth lodge with a hot tub, and came along with adults and four of my grandchildren. They enjoyed themselves immensely! The site is lovely and clean, as the lodge itself, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely come again and recommend to my family and friends.

We enjoyed it very much. In particular The Anchor pub. The Fish and Chips is amazing! Plenty of walks and local pubs are most inviting. Thank you!
Katie, Chelmsford
Date of stay: 13th July 2015
Only problem is its on a very steep hill with a really tight turn for cars and very gravely. This needs to be seen to asap as its nearly impossible to get the car to the lodge.
Otherwise wonderful!!
Woolverige, Meadowlands Waldon
Date of stay: 29th June 2015
Our cabin was absolutely gorgeous. Decoration and furniture lovely. Facilities ultra modern. Very homely and personal touches made it extra special. Designed by Linda Barker. Hot tub made it extra special and scenic views beautiful. Only let down outside verrander not looked after very well.
Darren, London
Date of stay: 28th June 2015

Lynnette, Norfolk
Date of stay: 5th June 2015
The accommodation itself was excellent. Just need towel rail in the ensuite shower room.
Lisa, Colchester
Date of stay: 25th May 2015
We had a few issues with the lodge itself. TV wouldn't work. Cot was broken, dining chairs were past it, as you say on them you almost fell through. Dishwasher wouldn't shut. However the lodge house keeping staff did everything to try to rectify these issues. Still a lovely place to stay. Children loved it.
Gary, Taunton
Date of stay: 1st May 2015
The accommodation was excellent. Extremely clean and equipped to a high standard. The Beautiful surroundings especially when viewed from the hot tub. We thoroughly enjoyed our mid-week break in April.
Mark, Aylesford
Date of stay: 30th March 2015
Great and peaceful break. Look forward to doing it again.
Olivia, Essex
Date of stay: 27th March 2015
We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 day stay at the lodge it was fab, my partner and I didn't want to leave as it felt like our home for the few days we were there. I would highly recommend these lodges, it was so peaceful and relaxing just what we needed and the hot tub was fantastic. The only problem we encountered was with the oven (the oven dials were positioned upside down) however when we alerted management they arranged for the handyman on site to fix it straight away.

We would definitely stay here again..it was amazing :)
Frances, Southend On Sea
Date of stay: 23rd March 2015
When we arrived at Bassetts, the toilet seat in the ensuite was broken , the light shade in the double room was missing, several light bulbs needed replacing and there were some very old, well established cob webs in the property. Additionally, the drive up to the lodge was virtually impossible to navigate due to potholes. We reported everything apart from the cobwebs when we arrived + when we left. Nothing was repaired or replaced while we were there. Bassetts is a lovely lodge and were it not for these points, we would have rated it 10/10 for all areas. However, these things let it down. A little more attention to detail needed. This said, we will definitely return.
Linda, Frinton On Sea
Date of stay: 23rd March 2015
Lodge could have been cleaned better. I moved the settees and there was food and dust underneath!
Sarah, Auckland
Date of stay: 20th March 2015
Could maybe do with a few more kitchen implements eg frying pan
Michael, Romford
Date of stay: 23rd February 2015

Hayley
Date of stay: 26th January 2015
Could've done with a collinder and a hair dryer but otherwise brilliant, loved the hot tub.
Glenn, Shoeburyness
Date of stay: 19th December 2014
Fridge was damaged and the back door had problems locking which was a pain but overall the lodge was stunning
Nicola, Kent
Date of stay: 8th December 2014
Kitchen equipment not as good in this lodge, been several times and know some lodges are better equipped than others, maybe a standard equipment standard should be applied.
Melissa, Welwyn Garden City
Date of stay: 24th November 2014
Accommodation was modern, clean, large, and really comfy. The hob didn't work in a few areas but other than that ecerything else ( apart from the hot tub issue) was great.
Wifi is very limited and signal- would be worth having a router closer or in accommodation.
Kerry
Date of stay: 10th November 2014
The lodge layout was lovely, and well equipped. Beds extremely comfortable and shower nice and powerful.

There were a few lights bulbs out in the lodge, and we found a few little bits from previous guests (loom bangles). Also lights on hot tub were not working. Although these did not hinder our stay would have been nice if all working.
Amy, Bexley
Date of stay: 10th November 2014
Beautiful lodge! So cosy!!
Sue, Loughton
Date of stay: 3rd November 2014
the lodge was not clean. I go away for weekends about 6 times a year often in caravans hotels and houses. This was my first time in a lodge, cover on bed was dirty had something spilt on it. bathroom floor was dirty dust in a lot of places, dirty plates in cupboard rubbish under unit. This is actually the first time i have stayed somewhere and been disappointed by the clealiness of the accomodation. You should look at the standard of other establishments caravans a lot cleaner.
Samantha, Chelmsford
Date of stay: 3rd November 2014
The lodge was fantastic
Kirsty
Date of stay: 31st October 2014

Date of stay: 24th October 2014
Wonderful lodge .miss it already
Very cosy , warm and spacious
Very clean and tidy.only kitchen blind needed a good clean
Suchj a great place to relax and not do alot.
Anita, Rushden Northants
Date of stay: 13th October 2014
Stayed in many lodges over the years but the beds in this lodge were by far the best. Well done.
John, Stalbridge
Date of stay: 13th October 2014
Very peaceful location - ideal for a relaxing get away from it all break.
Standard of accommodation was excellent. Well equipped kitchen. All rooms clean and nicely furnished and the Hot Tub was a real bonus.
Only four small niggles.
1. Bathroom and en-suite shower rooms lack a shaver point.
2. Poor positioning of cabinet in bathroom and en-suite shower rooms - you bump your head easily when bending over wash basin.
3. Both bedrooms need a mirror - preferably with a light over.
4. Noise of freezer noticeable at night in the double bedroom - light sleepers might find this an issue.
However, apart form these points, would highly recommend these lodges.
Paul, Exmouth
Date of stay: 10th October 2014
Nice holiday quiet and peaceful
note drive way really needs some attention
Elizabeth, Loughborough
Date of stay: 6th October 2014
When we used the shower in the ensuite the drain seemed to be blocked and water did not flow away. even just one person having a quick shower resulted in the shower overflowing.
Melanie, Stony Stratford
Date of stay: 6th October 2014
The lodges were beautiful and clean, with the exception of all the windows which were really smearered and ruined the lovely views and the light pull cordss in the bathroom were black and just needed a little bleach rubbed over them. other than that - really lovely.
Lee
Date of stay: 3rd October 2014
All you could ask for from a log cabin.
Mandy, Essex
Date of stay: 8th September 2014
The hot tub was not hot when we got there or the next day. It was only luke warm. Someone came to look at it but as we were only there for a weekend we did not get this fixed before we left. There was a hot tub in the health club but we had paid extra for the one at our lodge.
Alistair
Date of stay: 6th September 2014
An 8 person cabin without a proper bin. The bin was a waste paper basket not even 8L and clearly insufficient. The bathroom door didn't have a lock on it although it was fixed later in the week. The shower attachment didn't work properly. Better maintenance please.
Graham, Berkshire
Date of stay: 1st September 2014
lodge was lovely and very comfortable, everything we needed was there and the setting was just right.would have liked the hot tub ready for us when we arived as this was one of the main reasons for going.
Craig, Bedworth
Date of stay: 16th August 2014
Beautiful cabin, best we've ever stayed in. Fantastic facilities, couldn't ask for anymore. Slightly disappointed with hot tub - couldn't adjust temperature (even staff couldn't) and was uncomfortably hot for all adults in our party. Plus head rests in hot tub needed replacing. But it was plenty big enough for everyone and had wonderful views.
Anne, West Yorkshire
Date of stay: 16th August 2014
Ours was a dog friendly lodge. We brought our Chihuahua. If gates were installed at each entrance to the decking from outside it would have been really useful to allow our little dog and us to have more freedom and fresh air via the patio doors. Otherwise a very well laid out lodge with everything where you would expect it to be. Could be improved slightly by having more crockery, especially when there is a dishwasher there. We had to keep washing up to re-use plates etc.
Jocelyn, Newmarket
Date of stay: 16th August 2014
hot tub problems completely spoilt the otherwise lovely lodge and reduced the value of the holiday. There was also some issues around a door, shower and ceiling leaking which I reported to staff. If the hot tub had been working all week (we only had it fixed on the Wed) the holiday would have been much better value for money and scored much higher.
P
Date of stay: 9th August 2014
Had three log cabins as part of a family holiday. 2 cookers were very slow. Hot tubs great.
Linda, Reading
Date of stay: 8th August 2014
Beautiful lodge, wonderful views.
David, Ayr
Date of stay: 2nd August 2014
Very good accommodation though prices increased for school break
Claire, Whitley Bay
Date of stay: 26th July 2014
Lovely lodge, very clean, comfortable & modern which is always nice.
One thing which was missing was the optional use of air con or fans, know there was a heat wave while we were there but it was so uncomfortably hot within the lodge, luckily we have a family member who lives in Maldon & was able to bring us a couple of fans.. We did ask at reception to see if any they had any available but apparently have never been asked for them.
Other than that though it is a lovely lodge!
However this would NOT prevent us from returning.. :)
Sarah, Essex
Date of stay: 11th July 2014
I have stayed in many lodges/cottages, but this is particular lodge is the nicest for England.
The lodge was spotless on arrival, the hot tub temp was perfect after a couple of hours.
The position of the lodge was very private, some parks position their lodges too close alloying no privacy.
We will definatly be returning.
Waitrose deliver too, which is an added bonus!
Stefanie, Braintree
Date of stay: 7th July 2014
The lodge was very nice, clean and well maintained.
Jane, Lowestoft
Date of stay: 30th June 2014

Date of stay: 30th June 2014
The Lodge was faultless, really impressive.
Lisa, Colchester
Date of stay: 16th June 2014
Our bathroom toilet was broken when we arrived to the lodge which we reported straight away. It was never fixed for the whole of our stay. Lucky we had the ensuite and were a group of girls used to sharing one loo.
Donna, Leatherhead
Date of stay: 9th June 2014
We were impressed with the facilities - the lodges were fully equipped - even down to a pizza cutter. The hot tub was clean and made for a perfect evening. Whilst close to other lodges, we didn't feel overlooked. The lodges are spacious and with 6 adults - we didn't feel overcrowded. Although we were advised there was no WIFI - we were pleasantly surprised to find there was when we arrived.
Suzanne, Rayleigh
Date of stay: 7th June 2014
We had the 4 bedroomed lodge as we were a party of 7 adults. Bedrooms were a little tight but the lounge/dining/kitchen area was very spacious for all of us. One ensuite shower room with double shower but quite compact to use the loo. One other main bathroom. Really could have done with an extra shower room for 7 adults or maybe 2 bathrooms and not the ensuite on hindsight. Lovely well maintained hot tub outside. Very peaceful location right at the top of the hill in a corner. Lots of wildlife around. Perfect for a chilled get together with friends and the odd glass of something!
Charlene, Bedfordshire
Date of stay: 2nd June 2014
Almost everything was perfect, however, the lighting around the side of the lodge was not working and visibility was almost non-existent at night, which unfortunately caused one of my guests to fall down the stairs and badly injure her knee.
Laura, Bournemouth
Date of stay: 19th May 2014
Absolutely loved the lodges. Hot tub was amazing+lodge was very comfy. Had absolutely everything we wanted. Could do with extra parking next to the lodges though

Date of stay: 28th April 2014
Accommodation was outstanding ,very clean , very impressed with the lodge .Staff very helpful and polite.
Paul, Sheffield
Date of stay: 26th April 2014

A super place to stay, we really enjoyed it. Very high spec accommodation.

The only issue was 4 plates, bowls knives forks glasses cups etc. may be the right number for 4 people staying but this is very impractical. I would recommend that eight of each would be much better, for good self catering functionality.
Katie, Nottingham
Date of stay: 18th April 2014
Perfect couldn't have asked for any better.
Jenny, Great Yarmouth
Date of stay: 18th April 2014
Well equipped comfortable lodge with hot tub. Just what we needed!
Sharon, Norwich
Date of stay: 14th April 2014
Lovely lodge, as you would expect being only a year old.
Double duvet only just covered the bed so a King or Queen size duvet would help keep you covered!
Hair dryer would also be good if included in fittings.
Pauline, Norwich
Date of stay: 11th April 2014
Few cobwebs and a few minor faults that could easily have been fixed.
Bee, Chelmsford
Date of stay: 5th April 2014
No complaints all round about the Turnberry once we dealt with the lack of cleaning issue then it was fine...but eight weeks was enough. Most staff were very friendly.
Angela, Brighton
Date of stay: 5th April 2014

Date of stay: 17th March 2014
It's our second visit and we will definitely be back - we can't fault it! Lovely, modern, spotlessly clean, well equipped lodges. The hot tub was perfect. Great extra facilities like the swimming pool, helpful & friendly staff, spacious, pretty natural surroundings. Easy & efficient booking system.
Sam, Barking
Date of stay: 17th March 2014
It was lovely and peaceful. The only downside was you needed a car to go anywhere. The hot tub was amazing!
Sarah, Norwich
Date of stay: 17th March 2014
Could do with a few more cups and glasses otherwise feel like you are washing up a lot
Iain, Mansfield
Date of stay: 14th March 2014
Small problem with washing machine filter blocked. Sorted out quickly by maintenance man. Other than that everything A1.
Jenny, Wheathampstead
Date of stay: 3rd March 2014
Fantastic accommodation - I would move in full time if I could. Clean, child friendly, and very well equipped. The Hot Tub was also amazing!
Carla, Brentwood
Date of stay: 28th February 2014
Good place to stay for a peaceful break. Loved having the hot tub and pool and great if you like golf. The lodge was nicely decorated and clean. There was a slight issue of a strange smell coming from one of the bathrooms but I raised this with staff and a maintenance person sorted the problem out straight away.
Clare
Date of stay: 24th February 2014
The lodge was very nice and well fitted out. There was quite a bit of hair in the shower and bath though...!
Amanda, Aylesbury
Date of stay: 24th February 2014
Lovely villa and hot tub. We unfortunately must have had the villa with the worst/lack of view though. A map to see where the villas are so you can choose when booking would be helpful; especially as they sell themselves as villas with a great view.
Colin, Newton Aycliffe
Date of stay: 14th February 2014
the accommodation was just about brand new.and it was spotless.we were a bit worried about heating becouse it was in feb when we stayed but the central heating was spot on and so easy to use. we would recomend this lodge to anyone no matter what time of year.
Allan, Wrexham
Date of stay: 14th February 2014

The lodge was wonderful. Had lots of room and very comfortable furnishings! Kitchen was well equipped and everything easy to find. Particularly liked the added extra of the Christmas tree!

Lots of space between cottages. Parking for 2 cars. Few more small saucepans needed and number on cottages would be handy. Could not find any user guides for appliances, which is unusual. Stainless steel appliances a nightmare to keep looking clean. Also place settings for 4 people but no spares to cook with.

Cream carpets not the best choice and a few small housekeeping issues.
Adam, North Yorks

Lodge was excellent. Very reasonable for 4 people. But that was for a weekend at the end of November! It was comfortable, warm, well equipped. The dishwasher was broken but the staff offered to wash up for us, which we took them up on when we left. We'd definitely stay in the lodge again.

Accommodation was beautiful, look very new.
Absolutely spotless, couldn't fault the cleanliness at all.
Hot tub in the perfect location, views up to the hill are beautiful.
Beds very comfy, and there is no way you can be cold in here, you get full control of the thermostat! Loved it.

This is our second visit to warren lodges, it’s in a fantastic location and the lodge with the hot tub was perfect
Joanne
We loved our stay here. So clean, well equipped and we all loved the hot tub which again was clean and well maintained. Handy having the secure decking area for our dog to spend time outside with us. Even the boys survived without WiFi.
Amanda
The lodge is great, very comfortable, 6 adults doesn't feel small, lots of room, bedrooms very big. A few little things like TV not working in one room and a few cosmetic things as the lodge is well used, but other than that, a great lodge to rent.
Linda

This amazing owl sanctuary located in the Stowmarket area of Suffolk should be high on your list of places to visit in the area.  The attraction is also a registered charity and carries out important work in the care & rehabilitation of owls from the region.  The sanctuary also raises awareness of owl conservation throughout the UK.  Between April and the end of September there are two superb flying displays each day so you should try and make your visit coincide with one of these displays if you can.
